I'm pretty sure he means "writing" when he uses the word dentistry. Witness this exchange (click on it to see the whole thread of tweets between Mark and Patrick):
I'm guessing that writing is like pulling teeth for Mark. I think he is doing NaNoWriMo and "seeing 2/50 patients" is code for having written 2000 words out of 50,000, so far.
Thanks for finding this - things to ponder! Patrick does say this in the thread though, so it may not be writing per se...
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes It's more of a hobby. I just love teeth, you know? Really wanna get into it after I retire. I have so many ideas.
And AFAIK, Mark doesn't have a writing background - he was a programmer. Not to say it's ever too late to start, but I have a feeling it might be something else. What other hobbies does Patrick have...?

I had assumed from the start he meant he was doing a side writing project, once he started asking Patrick for advice as a "dentist". Not only does Patrick write novels on the side, but in fanficcing circles, "dentistry" is a code word for using a second account to sign up or nominate for a fanfiction exchange twice. Ie, inviting your "dentist" to join in on the exchange. So, I thought it was something writing-related he was doing under a pseud.

Not only that...it makes Blackwall look like a skinny lady when he wears that armour.
Not a fan.

Courtney @courtkneesc thought you would get a kick out of this 😂 I know I did. Some laughs for this sick girl.
<LOL>
Freddie Prinze Jr @realfpjr What the hell?!?! @mike_Laidlaw Dude ... what did yall do to me???
Mike Laidlaw @mike_Laidlaw Huh. Must swap his model to the default Qunari, which loses, if you will, some of the "girth."
Oh, Freddie... If you only knew what I've done to Bull during two separate PTs...
I made him wear Calpernia's armor twice and Battlemaster armor tinted pink and purple with matching pink weapons!
The "pink", Bull wouldn't mind. He has a fun little banter with Varric about the best metals. He brings up Dawnstone.... Varric: "Dawnstone?!? But it's pink!" Bull: " IT'S. PRETTY."
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Heyyyyyy toolset, just throwing up errors about how you're not crashing YET, but you're THINKING about it and COULD at any time? Cool, cool.
Sylvf @sylvf1 Y'know I've always pictured the toolset responding to any of our pleas or curses with the Nazgul scream from Jackson's LOTR.
Aaryn Flynn aarynflynn Get @biomarkdarrah to do his impression of working on the old BG tools. It is performance art meets slam poetry
Clearly it's been a while since I visited the twitter thread, but this post about Mark Darrah and the BG tools reminded me of something. A few months ago, I played through Baldur's Gate 1 again, and I decided to watch the whole end credits to see if I recognized any names of the Bioware employees. I really didn't know who any of them were until I started following this thread. I only recognized two: Lukas Kristjanson (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong, but he was one of the writers even way back then) and Mark Darrah (who I believe was one of the QA testers). Some of the employees had nicknames listed in addition to their real names, and Darrah's was Mark "Sailor Moon is My Bitch" Darrah (or something to that effect, it's been a while). This both amuses and confuses me, and if I was one of those twitter folks I might have even asked him where on earth that came from. I think it's really cool, though, that there are some Bioware folks who have been with the company for so long making such great games.
Hopefully that wasn't too off-topic. Back to the impatient waiting for DA4 news!

Bull. Ya big softie.
Ummm.. That was Blackwall, not Varric.
Yup, you are right. I rarely have those two in a party together, so I forgot that it was Blackwall. Just pointing out Bull's thoughts on "pink" being pretty.
L.winged @lwinged_ @patrickweekes,@mike_Laidlaw @bioware team, thank you for the amazing world you created, that I try to bring up to life with cosplay
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes There aren't nearly enough starfish monsters in mythology. Somebody needs to get on that.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Don't worry. everyone. I'm on it.
David Gaider @davidgaider I think @sylvf1 would be up for that.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes I mean I guess the fact that starfish aren't actually dangerous to people works against them, but they're scary if you think about it.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes "How does this thing feed?" "Oh, it pries open the clam slowly and inexorably, then extrudes its own guts to digest prey externally." "Oh."
