John Epler @eplerjc Folks, I'll happily talk to anyone who has genuine questions or concerns, but I'm not here to listen to abuse. As a caveat - there are a lot of questions I can't answer, either because we don't know the answer yet, or it's still far too early to say anything about it. Largely this means - I can't answer anything specific about the game. This includes features, characters, plots, etc. I would prefer if my twitter profile not read 'formerly @bioware'
Calwyne @calwynlavellan I would love to ask if one can still take lore and theories from things like the original elven statues in DAO? And tapestries in the temple of sacred ashes? Hugs and try not to be overwhelmed. A reply is a privilege and a prize, not something you owe people.
John Epler @eplerjc As with all DA lore, it's as accurate as its in game source. Some of it is true, some of it is lies, and some of it is in between.

Forgive the ProBoards-newbish question, but why do some of Hrungr's posts end in [HASH]DAT? I just picture them snapping their fingers in a music video and ending a song with it. The hastag is used to mark tweets/news, and it creates a link to a page that will only show posts with that hashtag. There's one for Anthem and Mass Effect as well.

Writers/narrative designers are not something we hire a ton of, largely because we have a bunch who've been here a long time. But I would suggest - build a portfolio of writing, particularly in things like Twine. Tribbleofdoom @dropdeaddoeeyesGreat advice, thank you! Out of curiosity; do you ever look at TV samples when you're looking for writers or strictly game samples? John Epler @eplerjcTV writing experience is actually pretty relevant, in that we tend to structure things more closely to a television season than a movie. I knew there was a reason I've been unable to stop myself from mapping out every BioWare game in what-if television season format. ...besides me being crazy, of course.

I think the real title is going to be more concise that #TheDreadWolfRises They might not even have a final title at the moment though I'm not a betting (wo)man, but I'd put money on it end up as Uprising, or some such, especially if one of the troubles plaguing Tevinter is slave rebellions (Which is likely, given who the antagonist is and how many elves tend to be slaves.). It'd follow the theme naming that the series has followed thus far (Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age: Awakening, Dragon Age: Uprising.) and it'd gel with the whole #DreadWolfRises thing (Which itself seems to be a reference to Sandal's prophecy from DA2.)
But who knows? Maybe Bioware wants black-sheep names for every even-numbered game in the series. Looking at you, DA2. What were you even supposed to be.

Still open-ended in design, but with smaller environments that are tightly focused with a high density of interest points (Rather than Inquisition's big and pretty but empty and unimportant level designs.) and interspersed with more frequent character talks and banter.
Or imo, at least, that's what made Trespasser good. The levels were more focused, with less sprawling, aimless exploration that places like the Hinterlands necessitated. What we did see was immediately relevant to the main plot (As opposed to Inquisition, where a good majority of the various areas were irrelevant to the story, beyond the throwaway recruitment quest or rendezvous that took place in them. Most of the main plot took place in "offshoot" levels like the Fade or Halamshiral that stood separate from the open-world proper.) We touched base with our companions and advisors with more frequency, and companion banter was more immediately accessible. In Inquisition, it felt a little bit like the companions didn't have much to do with the main quest (Even for characters who should've, like Vivienne participating in Halamshiral, or Blackwall with Adamant. imo more of the companions should've gotten the treatment that Dorian received with Redcliffe. The quest-specific characters like Clarel and Fiona especially suffered from this lack of character focus.) Trespasser improved on a lot of them, and I hope that's what they take cues from going forward.

I find this an interesting piece of news given A. the trends of the industry and B. the trend of BioWare. I mean DA 4s long development time coupled with both Inquisition and Andromeda plus Anthem tends to indicate BioWare is going to want to do large games with large worlds, either multi zone like Inquisition or Open World like Assassin's Creed remains to be seen. So...it'll be curious to see what they'll do. On the face of it the only problem you have doing multi zone games with exploratory sections and story sections is you risk having the side quests and story quests isolated as their own seperate thing, like with Inquisition. But then with Andromeda there was seperate story areas but also each of the plannets, pretty much, also had some story connection so everything was integrated, we'll just have to see.

According to the devs, DA2 was going to be Dragon Age: Exodus. Ever since I first heard this it's been Dragon Age Exodus in my head. I don't refer to it that way publicly, of course, because then people would be terribly confused.

Also - lots of investigative work Oh, and traveling way farther and faster than we ever did (hence the possibility of more varied maps) now that we have an active network of teleportation devices...

I am wondering if the next game will feature a massive city hub, like minrathous, but have us complete more linear adventures elsewhere. Also I'm glad Epler and other devs can be communicated with on Twitter and listen to fans, but that can be bad if overdone. The old football saying that if you listen to the people in the stands too much, you will soon find yourself among them. They should make the game they think needs to be made.
Also negativity Epler gets in replies, and BW in general, I think is from a fairly small crowd. They just cry the loudest. And most likely live in Russia. Throw in a few dumb Americans and Canadians for good measure of course.
