Damn, it's been more than two years now since DA:I and nothing at all about DA4... Am I the only one hoping that they are secretly working hard on DA4 and that in a year or so from now they will be like



and we will be able to buy the game a month or two later?

To tell the truth, I think this may happen... but to Secret IP. Doubt we're getting DA4 before it.

Almost certainly Secret IP. Though -- given the comment to the "CEO" that Secret IP was more done than expected ... that theory may not hold water. But that begs bigger questions as well. How can something that is theoretically short-staffed be further along than expected? Is the scope of Secret IP very, very modest? Or is the "more done" just a very early milestone? Like, it's fully storyboarded, but not a scrap of production code or art asset has been done yet.

I think it's more a matter of "throw us a bone, Bioware!". Even if we're comfortably confident that they're working on next game, it's unsurprising that people who like the franchise crave something new. It doesn't even have to be game info - just something DA-related with which we can have fun with, both with searching for new (story-wise or game-wise) information, speculation, fan creations and so on. We do know there's comic book coming... but it's half a year from now :/

The Secret IP has been in the works for a long time now. We knew they were working on it back in 2012 and we've seen concept video back in E3 2014. So I could conceivably see this game being out by late 2017/early 2018 (if that makes more sense timing-wise).

But yeah, I don't expect to see DA4 until late 2019, if they plan on putting in ~2.5 or so years of full production. DAI for example had 3 years full production, 1 year pre-production.

To clarify, it's "throw us a bone."

"Throw us some bone" has other connotations.

1. I was under the impression there are 2-3 locations of Bioware. And even if one location is helping another location, not ALL of the Dragon Age group are going to completely stop what they're doing to help Adromeda.

2. I have yet to see anything but speculation about this Secret IP, and until there is more than one tweeted question (posted over a year ago?) I do not believe in it's existence. I DO believe in the existence of a DA4, however.

3.  I have read very good arguments that the next game would go a bit faster because they have the Frostbite Engine figured out and running well.

4. I have read very good arguments that the story is already pretty much written for DA4.

My assumptions of all the above are that they are working on DA4 at a moderate pace and considering how much I liked DA2, despite everyone's misplaced hatred of it, DA4 being released in early 2018, or at the latest, Summer 2018 would not alarm me as I was tongue in cheek about a Christmas 2017 release.  That's 3.5 years after release of base Inquisition, and 2.5 years after Trespasser. DA2 got 18 months, DAI got 3 ish with all the work of a NEW engine being broke in.

Sad, but true.

They do have some DA comics in the works, so there's that. We also know that the cryptic chess piece tweets are Dragon Age related, and it seems way too early to start trolling us about DA4 proper, so some sort of game, whether it be a dragon age chess set, something like that-Fallen-London-thing-I'm-forgetting-the-name-of or a tactics spinoff, seem to exist.
