Did she do it by hand? Otherwise, she drew it and programmed it into an embroidery machine. Which is still skilled effort, I'm not saying otherwise, but it ain't sewing.   *says someone who sews.*

Ah, nah, I'm just being a know it all. It's very unlikely she did it by hand, it'd be ridiculously time consuming, (that is some tight stitches) hence why we humans created programmable embroidery machines. I've never purchased one, because the machines usually aren't useful for much else other than being a computer that puts thread into fabric in a certain shape, whereas I just want to put fabric together into a certain shape. ^^ Still, it's not like the machine came with that programmed in, so she had to draw it (or take an image off the internet) and fiddle with it on her computer in the software program the machine came with before uploading it to the machine.

Well, as someone who's spent a decade on a horse's back I have to say - judging from DAI model, Thedosian horses are MASSIVE. Like, about the size of a Shire horse if not bigger, judging from relative height of a rider. Even Iron Bull barely reaches their withers.

As for the animation - they're not bad per se, but I don't understand the visible wind streaks when we're galloping; it is wholly unnecessary and stands at odds with game's realistic graphics. The FOV trick and 'whoosh' sound is enough to give impression of speeding through the landscape.

As a horse lover in real life, I loved the introduction of the horses into DAI. The annoying part was that people didn't talk while you were on the horse and covering ground quicker meant it was less likely that companion conversations would trigger. Worse was when I first played the game it seemed as though the companions had been talking while I was riding because I was forever dismounting to hear the end of a conversation. (Must have been a bug as it didn't happen after the first few fixes). I really appreciated the horse in the Hissing Wastes; it took for ever to travel around it on horseback but on foot it drove me mad (and much of the time the wretched companion banter still didn't trigger or if it did, then instantly we were attacked by something).

The chestnut/bay thing irritated me too but at least now we know it wasn't ignorance but lack of continuity between graphics and VO. I really went overboard on acquiring mounts once I discovered you could have more than one and bought every horse breed available to me in the basic game. It was a pity they were only differentiated by colour rather than actual size and build but I was grateful for even that amount of attention to detail, plus the breed description that went with each.

Then by accident, I found out that riding the horses wasn't just restricted to the Inquisitor. So I had a bit of fun matching the horse to the rider in terms of colour and where it was meant to originate from. Dorian was my favourite for this. Dress him in black, mount him on the black horse and he becomes Zorro. Change him to white and stick him on the white (correct term grey) horse, which I seem to recall was also the Imperial War blood, and he was the Lone Ranger or simply the "Redeemer" on the white horse. I know, little things please little minds.

Aside from the horses, I found it annoying that they had all those deer mounts but no halla mount (elves only), considering much is made of the fact that the Emerald Knights used to ride them. Then you see the actual halla on the Exalted Plains and I could understand why elves no longer rode them since they appeared to have regressed badly from the time of the Dales, yet World of Thedas says they are meant to be larger than regular deer. So it would seem that once again the graphics department were not informed of an important detail of the world they are illustrating. Worst aspect of the tiny halla was when I tried rounding up the Golden Halla from the back of my horse, it suddenly changed direction, running across me, and my horse knocked it over and trampled it. A real deer wouldn't have been so stupid and a real horse wouldn't have trampled it; just saying.
