Well here is a little bit of history on fairy tales (original endings)
Its rather interesting, also i've read somewhere that in some french version of red riding hood, the girl gets raped by the wolf... not very child friendly to say the least.

TIL that the guy who wrote the US Pledge of Allegiance was a socialist, and wanted to include "equality and fraternity" but omitted them because the, "state superintendents of education on his committee were against equality for everyone (i.e. women and non-whites)."

The positive you perceive in this case being the avoidance of the words "equality and fraternity" or the down vote of someone with socialist opinions?

The positive you perceive in this case being the avoidance of the words "equality and fraternity" or the down vote of someone with socialist opinions? Both? Equality in a society is something of a running modern first world gag and socialism is evil.

I've been driving all of Vietnam on motorcycle for the last month and still have 2 weeks to go.
It's crazy to think that so many battles and death took place in this absolutely gorgeous country. Visited a couple of places where you can still see the scars/leftovers of the damage, especially when I was in Hue where one of the bloodiest battles took place where 80% of the city was reportedly destroyed in the fighting.
It's amazing to see how the Vietnamese have literally risen from the ashes. Easily some of the nicest people I have ever met and the little kids are so cool and are so interested in the outside world. I was talking to my friends I am doing the trip with about how Vietnam will be/look like in 15-20 years from now. Here more than anywhere I have ever been I can safely say that children are the future of a nation.

It's amazing to see how the Vietnamese have literally risen from the ashes. If they have its been in spite of the one party communist dictatorship which if I recall correctly is still in power. That war should have never ended, Americans lose their spine for war too quickly and the lefties back at home were their undoing in this fight against the evilest ideology to ever crawl of the shitholes of Europe.

There are a few buildings currently in use on military bases in Hawaii, that still bear the scars from strafing aircraft. The walls were left deliberately unrepaired.

The eighth. Technically the day Japan declared war on the US.
Due to the time zone shift, the war declaration actually happened on the 8th Japanese time, but still before the attack.

I think after 20 years and 50,000 casualties the fact that we were no closer to ending the war was probably a sign that we were getting nowhere. I don't think spine has anything to do with it. How many 18 year olds should have to die in the mud thousands of miles away from home for a country that didn't even want us there?

How many 18 year olds should have to die in the mud thousands of miles away from home for a country that didn't even want us there? Seven years actually. 68-75. It's twenty only if you count the bit players back in the fifties. The French and everyone else's war just as one long one. Back to the point. Don't want us there? Oh there were a few groups (they're in mass graves now) that desperately wanted us there. You want to talk about war as if it's something that you can approach haphazardly. It's the same thing in Iraq and Afghanistan. If you want to fight a war I'd advise you fight it to win, that means sadly having the resolve to possibly people to it. Apart from that? It's the American responsibility for the defense of that state, and they gave up, they pulled back and well, the body counts are on the Americans head, because it was their responsibility to protect it against that. I recommend reading: The Black Book of Communism if you labor under some illusion we did them a favor by leaving. Also, the fact that in hindsight America was tactically and strategically winning the war when they pulled out. Yeah, this appeal to moralistic thinking sort of blew up in your face yeah? It's why I try to avoid that line in discussing war, sad as it is, people die in war. That they die for someone else's right to live free of communism ultimately shouldn't have mattered, both ideologically and morally
