Well thought out review. I finished my game in 80 hours (with 93% completion, couldnt bring myself to finish the tasks). I agree with the uninspired aliens. Kinda wish for something with 4 arms or something. Angaran cultuure was somewhat interesting, but you really had to dig through the codex. Also agree that the story was a bit weak. In recent bioware games I have found that the main stories and villians have been somewhat lacking, with a few stellar moments here and there (DA:I being the most recent). Have to disagree on the combat with you. I loved it and it was by far the saving grace of the game for me, along with the Nomad. Didn't mind so much being able to not change my weapons on the fly as I never used anything I found around the map. Anything I could make was so much better than anything I found. Crafting at the beginning was a little confusing, but after the first few projects was pretty easy. Characters and romances were a bit meh. Romances would be on pause until something in the story happened, so it was annoying to me that besides peebee, I couldn't really flirt willy nilly whenever I wanted too. I was aiming for Cora and Peebee at the same time and the only "fight/complaint" was from Cora and all she said was "Peebee, really?" and then switched back to normal conversations... I wanted a fight ala Miranda vs Jack or even a disagreement between Liara and Ashley! But we get nothing... Liam was pretty annoying, outside of his interactions with Jaal, which I gotta say really enjoyed as a character. The rest were allright. Overall I'd give it a 7.5. Waiting for the patches to play my new game +! Regarding combat, I'm not sure if it was me you were disagreeing with, but the combat was (largely) the saving grace of the game for me as well. And trying out different builds was a good way to stay invested when the characters & story didn't reel me in. The Nomad was generally fun, but I found it still didn't handle that great though. Wasn't all that keen on the 4wd/6wd busywork either, but on the whole it wasn't that annoying. One thing I did really like was the ability to seamlessly transition from the KB&M (for regular gameplay) to controller (which I used for the Nomad). And after you upgrade it, it's both sturdy and quick to get around the planets.

Bummed for ya, Hrungr.
I don't think Andromeda is that bad (7/10 for me), but my expectations were low. Ever since ME2 I've been disappointed with the SP/writing and I find the SP fanbase of the game to be reprehensible in most cases. This means I look at the SP forums very rarely.
Your work here is one of the few reasons to visit the SP forums. You've always been level-headed and provided us with useful coverage of the game's development. I normally don't care that Bioware/EA let down their fans, but this sucks.
Here's hoping the game is supported enough that you get your money's worth.
