I don't agree with buying Basic Packs first. I'd skip straight to Advanced Packs or Expert Packs. Why? I don't see why you wouldn't want to max the characters out ASAP? It's really quick and easy to get the commons out of the way and the character bonuses are super useful. 1 Gold Game = 10 Basic Packs It didn't take long at all to get all the commons. I don't see why you would put off getting them out of the way. Just play an asari adept or vanguard to 20 and you should be good to go for Advanced and Expert's. Also helps you stock up on consumables and the consumable bonuses.

Dunno, it's faster to get a good vanquisher/piranha then go max out the commons, then the other way around. removing the commons out of the loot table also doesn't really work because consumables are also considered as commons

Dunno, it's faster to get a good vanquisher/piranha then go max out the commons, then the other way around. It's more about the character cards and weapon upgrades. It took less than 20 gold completions to get all the commons out of the way. That's like 20 expert crates...not really getting you that far ahead.

Gold level? What is that? I might have to get proto and snakebite to carry me in gold once I get a bit more up to speed, oh the horror!

Good stuff, gonna go buy the second strike team :)
Folks, are there any thoughts on what order to try the basic Human classes in? It seems that there are bonuses for leveling each class there, so I was wondering if there was like in ME3MP any order of trying them up. I started with Adept and he seems pretty good. I was wondering if I should go with Vanguard or Engineer next, and if H!Sentinel was Okay here?

Vanguard. Go for barrier and charge first. Make sure to snag +shield when using melee = easy.

When you say "snag" what do you mean by it? Snag: to take Slang I use when I think something's a steal/bargain. Are you an Aussie? Google points out they have an odd meaning for the word.

Heh, no, I am a Canadian early riser. Anyway, I will go for a Vanguard after Adept hits 20, was my fav class in ME3MP.

I don't agree with buying Basic Packs first. I'd skip straight to Advanced Packs or Expert Packs. Advanced packs are totally obsolete imo. No reason to ever buy them. I bought some the pricier packs first and sort of regretted that (though not entirely) and went back and stocked up on the cheaper packs. But note also that advanced packs are where you get your pistol and shotgun melee optimizers (+29% melee damage for rank X pistol, +33% for rank X shotgun). If you are playing a melee character, or if you want to unlock any of the Asari Adept, Asari Sentinel, Krogan Engineer, Krogan Vanguard, Salarian Infiltrator or Turian Soldier, you will want to burn a lot of gold missions on unlocking those advanced packs. ---- I also made some notes when I was watching the video here: 1. Another distinction between bronze / silver / gold missions is how much you get healed for between each wave. Bronze heals you back to full health on each wave. Silver heals you 1/3 of full health and gold heals you 1/6 of full health. (But all missions revive you at the end of each wave and give you full health from that.) 2. You get five extra levels from getting to rank X on a character (each even rank is a level, each odd rank is a customization unlock). I thought I should mention this since I remember hearing someone say that rank X was like 10 extra levels, but you really only get five (still... five levels helps a lot - and maybe matters when considering that they recommend being level 10+ for silver missions and level 18+ for gold) 6. Upload and even hack mission on higher difficulties (especially gold kett wave 6) from people drawing aggro away from the objective - sort of like a device wave? 10. You should not be using a revive in wave 1. Each subsequent wave will be harder and if you use up your revives early you are just being a burden on everyone else. ---- Maybe this will help someone?

lol Constructive criticism isn't supposed to be politically correct. Im actually really surprised to hear youre using a yeti... it sounds like a headset mic. Maybe try adjusting the sensitivity if thats possible? It most certainly sounds like a Yeti... With really poor acoustics. The Blue Yeti is a decent mic, but for some people it's a bit too good because it picks up too much extra sound. In this case, the tinny sound that makes it sound bad is because he is too far away from the mic and the mic is poorly positioned to it's picking up subtle echo from the room around him. My advice to Mobius Y: Position the mic against a wall or in a corner, ensuring that you are positioned between the mic and the rest of the room (you'll absorb some of the echo from the wall behind you). The closer to the wall, the less noticeable echo you will hear. Then get a pop filter and swallow the bloody mic. Not literally, of course. Orient the pop filter about 6 inches from the mic, then get your face right against the filter. Turn the gain on the mic up to max, then lower the volume in Windows. Talk in a normal tone. The Yeti has a lagless monitor built in, so plug your headphones into the 3.5mm jack on mic so you can hear yourself. In Audacity, avoid altering bass, treble, or pitch since those all can greatly distort your voice. Also, the compressor is a great effect to add depth to your VO. Good luck dude, always happy to see other ME:A youtubers around here. That all said, I completely agree with this. Cheers and welcome!

Mic's practically up my nose whenever I'm speaking into it. Or more accurately, my tongue is licking the pop filter. I'll try your other suggestions for post-game commentary, much appreciated.

I'll try your other suggestions for post-game commentary, much appreciated. Just make sure the pop filter isn't up against the mic though... It needs space to flex and absorb plosives. But yeah, if that's all good then you are picking up echo from somewhere else and might have the gain too low on the mic. I've been using the Yeti for somewhere around 2-3 years now and have never had my voice sound that tinny unless I was yelling at it from 5 feet away, but I'll concede that the same thing could happen if the back of the mic is facing an open room (e.g. you're sitting with your back into the corner). I did have an issue where I was picking up a lot of subtle white noise behind my voice, essentially EMI. I thought that there was something wrong somewhere until I realised that the mic had a pre-amp and the gain was set at like 25%. I maxed it out and then turned my input volume in Windows down to like 50%. Cleaned the white noise right up. EDIT: Also, didn't think of it before... Your Yeti is set to cardioid mode, yes?

I don't know how worthwhile it is maxing all your common guns and kits first since alot of them are terrible, but its definitely worthwhile getting up to the 5 consumable/game cap if nothing else- I got all mine out of Basic Packs, and all within the first few days of playing multiplayer.

The content of what you are saying is good, but thats as far as it goes for praise from me, as both a content creator and a viewer. Your mic sucks. Get a proper one(im assuming youre using a headset) and never use the one you used on this video ever again. Had i not been watching to review your video, id have clicked off after a second. I got to about 2 minutes in and i just got bored listening to the monotone voice over. Put some emotion into what you are saying, pretend like you actually care about the things you are trying to teach. Production value is poor, no transitions between clips and the whole thing looks like it was made in windows movie maker. Your gameplay is bad too. Dont know if it was gold or not (didnt look like it) but personally i wouldnt take anybody whos gameplay looks that sloppy seriously. And lastly the title. Its clearly click bait, thats probably why you chose it. But any video which starts as 'top 10' signifies that the creator is in this for clicks and views, not for good quality community focussed content, at least to me. You could have easily made the same video without 'top 10' and just put the same points in. If your justification is that its easy to digest, then you need to seriously shorten your video length by at least half, because almost 15 minutes is far too long. As i said though, the content was good, very helpful to new players. Feels like im blasting you a bit, but ive tried to be as honest as possible here. You do you though, youve got a lot of subs so somethings working for your audience, i just wont be adding to that total. Yeah I have to agree with PenguinFencing's post, as he is a Reddit™ mod after all and knows what he is talking about. If you want to see some examples of super awesome production and gameplay, you should check out some of his Mass Effect Montage videos where he really showcases his awesome gameplay skills against the AI as well as super high production quality. I know that's the standard that I use whenever I'm making a video

Okay, I missed this thread from before apparently, hadn't seen it but I've now seen your video Mobius and I've got to say that I disagree with those who say that you're mic and sound isn't good. I had NO problem at all with understanding you or your English and both your sound and video was very nice. This was a really good video, especially for a scrub like me. I have tons of friends who teaches me how to play but still, it's nice to get tips from those who plays differently from my close friends and also it's just a good idea in general that you made such a video for other new players. So I've got nothing but praise to you.

A very good video for people starting the game. Not too long, covers the basic stuff very nicely and with friendly manner. I would recommend to everybody starting the game.

Superfluous comment, but just wanted to reiterate my nod of approval. Thanks for taking the time to make this. My sister is a big mass effect fan, just finished her finals and is looking to start Multiplayer. I will throw this vid to her, as it covers everything needed in a much less rambling, jumbled manner in which I would explain it xD

If that's the one where it records mostly from one direction, yes. Yup, that's the one. Just curious. If you had it set to omni-directional or bi-directional, that would also create the issue. Nevermind that then. I completely agree with this comment and everything you've stated. He makes really decent videos. He's even doing a series on ME1 right now, he's on the ilos bit with vigil. But I digress. It's coming mostly from us other content creators that are very critical of sound when it comes to VO work. As Penguin said, it's not to demean the content provided, but rather as constructive criticism on how to improve. No one does everything perfect, and I don't know about you, but I relish in the opportunity to get tips on how to perfect my craft.
