Until someone at Bioware 'fesses up to it, I regard the second one as a QA problem. I can't believe anyone wrote that; it makes no sense. More likely, it's a transcription error, the actor read it out without questioning it, and no when else picked it up before release.

I've seen the first one often quoted as an example of 'dreadful' writing, including by so-called critics. Sure it's a bit of a mediocre attempt at humour, but it's hardly 'dreadful', particularly in the context of the vast amount of writing in MEA, some of which is genuinely funny (well, imo, but I do have a pretty cheesy sense of humour). If we're going to set the bar that high, we can chuck most of what gets written nowadays in the waste bin.
