it's doable. Cheese strats/clever use of "map environment" (i.e. camping in a zone where enemies can't close for melee or flush you out) isn't necessarily required, but it speeds it up by quite a bit. Objective waves suck more and require a lot of kiting, though. I did it with the Turian Soldier a few days ago, because Turians. 

Its the best weapon in the entire game and I see no reason why you shouldn't use it on every kit in the game. Im 100% serious. Its light enough to use with ability focused kits, and it hits hard enough to use with weapons platforms. Im struggling to see any downsides really.
