So here we are with empty manifests, and silver-difficulty raiders taking 3 shots in the head from a viper sniper rifle until they die.
What's the best plan for building profiles from the ground up? What difficulties to tackle, and what packs to buy?

Regarding packs: it's best to stick with the basic packs in order to max out your low level stuff first before moving onto the expensive ones. I'm still learning the ropes on just about everything else.

Just use any melee build and profit. Human vanguard, asari adept, most krogans, can easily do gold with crap guns as long as you have the right build and the juggernaut shield. From fairly low levels too, on the vanguards just max charge and fitness and you are ready to go. Don't even need max charge tbh.

Kinda hate the 3rd objective wave(used to be wave 10) being cut from the game. Now we're only earning about 55% of what we used to have in Gold but each match is shorter at the same time I guess. Currently kinda stuck with those 20k packs becuz there are a shit ton of common and uncommon gear and character cards to unlock comparing to last time.

I can understand BUT it took most people around 800 hrs of ME3 to max their manifest. I have a friend that already has everything with no real money spent on packs. Progression should be buying packs progressively as you max common, uncommon, and rare BUT I can understand throwing a few shots at getting a weapon like the Thokin, vanquisher, equalizer, falcon, piranha, etc. Even at low levels they can make farming easier but generally stick to basic packs until commons are maxed then advanced until uncommons cap and so on.

I'm maxing out commons then uncommons and so forth. Haven't quite got all the commons yet but I've unlocked every uncommon char and a few guns from basic packs. Have Asari Sentinel V, Kroguard II, Carnifex II, etc. Makes it a lot cheaper than trying to go from top to bottom.

Not the way I see it though. There are most certainly some common and uncommon gears you'll never use in MP so there is no point in drowning yourself in the very last of them before moving on to the next tier. I'm aware that the lower tier stuff will get in the way of the more expensive packs but as far as I can tell the chance of getting an upper tier gear is independent, if the formula from the ME3 MP packs still applies.

Max commons. Get kits silverready ( depending on weapon, between level 6 to level 9 at the mom ). After that max uncommons. Go gold. Then Rares. Hopefully plat is released by then, if I can go it ofc. And last but not least, URs. All the while complaining about incompetent and in most cases even competent pugs ( because they outscorewhore me ).

I concentrated on basic 5k packs until my commons were getting close to max then switched to the advanced 20k. The advanced packs usually give me a common along with an uncommon so they will still get maxed.
In fact I only need 5 weapon mods to max my common items. I love seeing Xs next to everything. Next will be the uncommon. I'm being fairly methodical but occasionally indulging in an expert pack which usually disappoints. I don't think I have any ultra rare items yet.
I am playing my biotic boom Asari Adept IX on gold with the Raptor. She holds her own just fine and can even carry against Outlaws so getting credits is not a big problem.

I don't think maxing commons and uncommon is the way to go anymore. I maxed commons while levelling both female and male soldiers on bronze and silver. If I had to do it again, I would have spent the time levelling melee builds on silver and gold and buying advanced and premium packs. After 20 premium packs, then I'd farm gold and go back to maxing commons a bit but then going back to premium packs. You seem to get a lot of commons and uncommon items in the advanced and premium packs anyway (without affecting the guaranteed drop).
Common weapons are so bad that it doesn't make sense to max them so early in the game. You want to get some rare and ultra rare items asap.

Not doing much in MP for now, waiting to see what bioware does to it or plans to do with it. I've been playing the SP in the meantime, keeping mission funds running so I can buy stuff from the item store, just to kinda-sorta keep up.

Not a plan I put a lot of thought into but same as ME3, max out commons and work my way up with packs, as for kits level 6 to silver level 12 to 15 for gold, when at 20 I start back in bronze with a new kit. Bought packs when I started and have the UR/N7's that I like in weapons, rest will wait until I play gold every day, save up for DLC's.

I agree that buying a fair amount of Expert or Premium packs fairly early is a good option. Getting a few viable guns helps out a lot in the early game, but I would suggest going back to the bronze and silver packs sooner rather than later. It's not about the weapons trash; it's about getting those common character cards maxed out. There's a world of difference between a level I and a level X character, and having a nice filled out build will make it so much easier to farm gold.

I jst want to unlock the [...] charger smg Don't get too excited, though, it's pretty bad... It's gotten to the point where I charge an enemy (playing Shockguard) and then just walk over and melee them to death* because it's faster than using the weapon (it'd take more than an entire clip with the charger) . And that's vs. the lowest mooks like the Chosen (or whatever they're called) and such. If you meet an armored or shielded guy, you could just as well try to tickle them to death... I feel like this game is geared towards maxed-out characters and equipment so much so that it just becomes tedious playing with anything less than that. Also, boosters. * We're just going to ignore the fact that you actually need to melee lowest level enemies several times** after a charge and triggering a biotic combo on silver to kill them... ** And that's with most of the melee evolutions and the jugg shield...

In terms of packs maxing basics isn't a bad idea, but mix in some higher tier packs (50 or 100k) as well for a chance at some not trash guns I'd say since those are gonna be at least gold and well it's just a bit more fun to buy basics if you occasionally mix in one of those packs as well. (vanq or talon for example). It's a good idea since you'll get a lot of consumables to do gold with, a lot of x tier mods and level x classes with many points to spend. Not a must though especially not if you don't fancy the common classes but a pretty good idea.
After you max basics for your own sake plz move on to 50 or 100k packs, literally no reason to max out uncommon stuff unless you really want an uncommon class or a certain uncommon weapon mod to x. It certainly won't make you get more gold cards from the expensive packs, you'll get 1 or 2 regardless of if you have maxed uncommons or not, if you have them maxed you'll just get extra consumables. Also you'll get a lot of uncommons from the higher tier packs anyway so chances are you'll max them out before your gold cards by doing this even if you skip advanced packs.

snakebite, good point. It doesn't take long to max some of the common characters. Get some rare and ultra rare items, then max your characters then go back to getting rare and ultra rare items.

Doing exactly the same, for exactly the same reasons. I also feel like the 5k packs are actually a very good deal as I frequently drop an uncommon in it. I didn't write down the stat and realize now it was a mistake, because I feel like 4 of those 5k packs yiels a much better result overall than a single 20k pack. For the next step though (20k instead of 50k packs) it is less clear. That's why I now mix both 20k and 50k packs. As someone else mentionned, one should anyway move to the following pack tier before fully maxing a specific tier as you still drop the missing ones in higher packs. Starting with low cost packs is a very appreciable kick for the manifest though, and helps to get some stuff before going to gold (didn't tried out the novaguard yet, which might invalidate my point as someone else also mentionned)

What difficulties to tackle, and what packs to buy? I don't know about others, but I'm going to continue to farm gold like a noob with melee female vanguard (because im a female girl in real life as my avatar clearly shows). As long as I continue on my current trajectory, I should have all my rares maxed out within a month or maybe less, and then the real fun begins - the hunt for the remaining ultra rares. Can't wait til all my rares are maxed out! Looking forward to using the equaliser 10 with max level mods eeeeek. In terms of packs, buy only basic packs til you max out all of your commons. This took me just three days roughly. Then after that, move straight to premium packs, don't even bother with advanced packs or expert packs, unless you really need to get one/some of your uncommon characters to level X as fast as possible. Avoid expert packs completely.

Just because you drop 10 items instead of 5. The only reason to buy 100k pack over the 50k would be if the UR drop in them is beyond by a factor of at least 2. I am writing down the total numbers of 50k and 100k packs I buy and the UR drops to check this out but it will be ridiculously long to get a decent stat out of it.
