floratheelf ; Christ, it took a second for my brain to parse that there's two people in that photo and your head wasn't somehow upside-down. XD Might be time for a drink. Hehe the fault is definitely mine with that one! My super tired morning brain didn't think about how weird that would look to the public maybe make that a double?

Y'know what this thread's lacking? TACTICOOL PERSONNEL. (Yeah, in case you were wondering, I am just as crazy as some of my posts suggest.) Bitch please, you got nothing on crazy. I can't tell by the sight if it's closed or open, so I don't know if it's an Eastern make or Eastern-bloc make. It looks open, so I'm guessing it's Russian or Russian-styled copy. With the muzzle-brake, I'm calling it a 74 model. The plastic mag also indicates the same. But correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not a huge enthusiast, nor do I know much about AK's and their clones. My tactical pic. This was an ROTC unit I was with, but right after my first deployment, so they let me wear my patch, and I simply wore my sew rank PC everywhere so they didn't make me wear the bullshit Cadet ranks. They didn't let me keep any of my gear. Still, they were so cheap that they couldn't afford rubber ducks, so that's a real, if ancient A2 right there. They even made us practice with empty magazines. Can you believe that shit? Like I needed any practice on my weapon. But you want to get the rank, you gotta play the game. Yeah, it's meant to be an AK-74N. Unfortunately, it's just a Cyma, since I do milsim. Would like to shoot an actual AK-74 one day, but as it happens, the Vz 58 is that much closer to home. They're both Category A weapons, meaning strictly illegal, however. The one in the picture, however, falls into Cat D. Legal from the age of eighteen, no checks required. That said, I have fired small arms before (9x19mm), and my studies are the only thing keeping me from buying a weapon of my own. (They're really kind of expensive... but you can't put a price on survival in these troubled times. If I had the money, I would not hesitate to get my license.) Plus I did choose college instead of military. It's not a choice I regret, but then again, there were no bad choices there. Oh, and... I never mentioned (and never will - if I do not enlist) being military - that's Stolen Valor, and I don't do that shit. Just a hobby here! And M16A2s are still M16s. I'm not sure what the major differences from the A4 are, but I'd wager reliability. The M16A1 served in Vietnam, M16A2 was intended to serve in an European war, and A4 is a modern rifle that serves in the desert environments of Iraq and Afghanistan. RIS don't matter, because today you can mount them on basically anything. Even AKs, which actually have a choice of a RIS front handguard, or the standart eastern scope rail mount. Western weapons instead go the intergrated way, and the 16A4s have what, 22 inches of pure RIS rail?

But if people are just doing it so they don't clog up the pages then I don't think they should worry about it. I don't think anyone would mind they didn't use spoiler tags. Oh, right. Ah man, you're fine, I didn't think you were faking in any way The stuffs all commercial anyway, you can buy it everywhere. If the military wants to actually cut down on the Stolen Valor claims, they should stop making the gear so easy to access. And believe me, it's just as much of a problem in the military as it is outside of it: You wouldn't believe the number of assholes who claim decorations, patches/tabs, or qualifications that they aren't authorized to wear. Fun fact, even Chris Kyle (American Sniper) has been shown to have falsified elements of his military record. It doesn't make it right, but what I'm saying is that you're not claiming anything and that's fine. I know of people who should know a lot, LOT better who do. Try ROTC (you get 2 years with no commitment or obligation of service, and its technically equivalent to Basic Training anyway). I got the best of both worlds. In fact, I enlisted partly (mostly) for the money, and once I finished my 4 year (in 2 and a half years, since you get a lot of down time with nothing else to do but take classes, along with the generous number of credits you get for being in the military), I commissioned as an Officer anyway, and used a lot of that money to pay for more school! Yep, that's the M16 family for you. I don't know the specs for the A4 (the Marines play with that one a lot more than the Army does) so I couldn't tell you there. My weapon of issue on deployment was predominantly the M4, the M16's little brother. My favorite toy though was the M14 EBR-RI.

My weapon of issue on deployment was predominantly the M4, the M16's little brother. My favorite toy though was the M14 EBR-RI. I'm not fond of liars, to be honest (And to be honest, I think there is a difference between dressing up as a soldier for an event, but telling the truth that you're not if someone asks... and claiming false facts). As for the gear's availability, well... I can't say I mind too much. It's not really about the stuff being available, it's about the people being jerks. Plus anyone could tell me apart, I'm sure of that - MultiCam, AOR2 and Coyote don't exactly go together well. Plus the hoodie is clearly civilian. Someone actually told me I look more like a terrorist than an operator. While I suppose getting RIS instead of the wood furniture might change the balance more towards operator, I just love how the wood on AKs looks. And I'm not an American, so ROTC is not an option for me. Instead, I could join the reserves, since our military is strictly professional. Yes, they actually removed compulsory service several years ago - enough for me to not have any actual military training. Now that there are debates of reintroducting the thing, of course it would miss my year of birth. And while I would jump at compulsory service, I'm not keen on signing up, since I intend to start working in my field right out of college. Unfortunate, really. So many gelled up idiots who think they're the boss could really use the two years of military life that it was before. Me included, though not for the exact same reasons. And the M4 does seem generally more used in the Army. Not that I have personal experience... It might be interesting to know why the Army opted for a carbine instead of a full-length assault rifle. I don't even know the difference between the two aside from theory, and I'm not about to assume that I know it because I got my hands on some replicas.

This is me about a month and a half ago climbing Angel's Landing in Zion National Park. I went on a camping/hiking/adventure trip through the Rockies and Mountainous West. I hit 11 National Parks in all. Here's Bryce Canyon. And the last one for now, at Delicate Arch in Arches National Park Reposting this, because apparently they didn't actually go through the first time. They should work this time. And because I'm that vain.

I don't even know the difference between the two aside from theory, and I'm not about to assume that I know it because I got my hands on some replicas. Ah, that might explain a bit. Here in the States, military uniforms are available everywhere. And most people mix and match their stuff anyway when in the civilian world. I assumed you were just a guy wearing the ball cap and neck gaiter with other stuff. More than just used more; The Army exclusively issues the M4, while the Marines due about a 70/30 split in favor of the A4. The reason that the Army selected the M4 was because way back during the invasion, occupation, and insurgency in Iraq, the powers-that-be got together in a committee and reviewed combat data and information, and found that the wide majority of all engagements were at a distance of under 100 meters. Functionally, they're the same weapon, with the same firing mechanism and chambered for the same cartridge. Everything on the main body (receivers, bolt catch, trigger, pistol grip, selector lever, etc.) is the same from M4 to M16, as is the delta ring and forward sight. The handguard and barrel are shortened, but otherwise the same, and the stock is the plastic/metal retractable-style rather than the old plastic/wood. The M4 is unquestionably better for short-range, CQC, and especially CQB (room-clearing), while having both a shorter point-target and area-target range (military speak for effective range and maximum range, respectively). This was considered an acceptable trade-off to the longer-range and slightly more powerful (though so miniscule that I have no idea how they measured it) attributes of the full-sized rifle. All-in-all, they both make FREEDOM HAPPEN!

Yeah, I'm familiar with those terms. It's just like when, at the end of WWII, they replaced the old-fashioned full-length, full-caliber rifles (M1 Garand, Mosin Nagant, Lee Enfield, Kar 98k, Arisaka...) with assault rifles, because the excessive range of them was not required (and these calibers would remain only with designated marksmen and snipers), and faster firing was more required (only the Garand was actually capable of firing... "quickly", being semi). That's when the Sturmgewehr (literally Assault Rifle) was born. It had overwhelming firepower, which was especially noted on the eastern front, where it could fire faster than a Mosin, and further than a Pepesha. Germans could maintain absolute fire superiority... as long as they had ammo, and were not simply overwhelmed. Some higher-ranking officer even claimed that the rifle had one fault: There were not enough of them to equip everyone.
As for being "less effective", I think it's about the M4s shorter barrel. The muzzle velocity decreases, and the 5.56 gets less spin or something. I don't exactly understand that, either, but it should then not fragment properly at lower velocities, or something.

I dont know... im not saying its logical haha... most of my feelings arent still cant help but feel them though... im a maaasssiiiiveeee introvert and im kinda quiet and shy... its just who I am I'm always struggling with self doubt. It's always there, in the back of my mind, ready to take advantage of a moment of weakness to make me feel bad about myself. But I've learned that if I don't put yourself out there, I'll never know what people really think of me. I'll only know what the big scary monster inside my head wants me to know.

Let me tell you something man. People are insecure. Like, really insecure. And they're more worried about how they look to you than how you look to them.
I guarantee your ugly monster in your head is what thinks the worst about you. If it's not, then you did something to deserve the crap you get.
