Disagree. Exception being the explorer class because biotic blink moves through cover youre trying to get behind. But what I love about that is that it works in the opposite direction potentially to your benefit. I've sometimes NOPE'd my way out of fire by blinking backwards. You can use it to go through and then up walls sometimes. Guy at the top? Bink into the wall and wind up on top next to him. Bit iffy but it works sometimes. |

Automatic cover was definitely a good idea for the style of combat they were going for and I haven't had issues with it yet.

This cover system feels more fluid and natural.
I hate sticky cover like in the older games, if it want to dash out of cover I don't want to have to unsnap from it before.

I for the most part haven't had an issues with it, when I was concerned about how good it would be before hand.
The one issue I have had is that a few things that should have been cover my Ryder didn't duck behind when I walked up to it and considering they were the waist high kind of cover, that made it pretty damn useless.
It's extremely rare that it happens, though.

Combat in this game is one of my two biggest gripes with MEA. ME2/3 was just more fun and precise. I'm probably the only one who didn't mind the 1 button for everything and I wish I had it back  I really don't miss the one-button-for-everything functionality of ME3's combat. Overall the combat system was great, but I feel that sprint and grab cover should have been entirely separate. It was super annoying when I'd press sprint but I was just close enough to a cover point that I'd snap behind it instead. Here, I have greater control over what I want to hide behind without suddenly being put on rails along that spot. Yeah well, I barely ever had this issue, but I've heard a lot of stories. And I feel entirely different about having more control now. |

I think it works well, especially in conjunction with our newfound agility. If you had to button press into and out of cover it would really hamper our ability to jump and dash around the battlefield.

I was concerned with it on the first mission as it confused me quite a bit, but once you nailed it, its awesome. I like how fluid the combat feels overall on the game, there is an open space to play around with. Also enjoy that my squad is actually being really helpful (Specially Drack), instead of the normal useless teammate AIs I encounter on other games.

There has neen a few times it said take cover or die and I just stood there beside cover and absorbed a bunch of bullets. I know to stop aiming and firing and I still just stood there and died.
Yeah, if its auto cover then thats definately the time it should take cover.
I guess its just another bug.

Me and MEA cover system were meant for each other, I loved it. Certainly prefer it to any other ME cover system. It's easy, you can adjust after one or two battles, there is no need for additional button clicks - perfection.

It's one of the few things I actually see as a downgrade for the combat. I preferred ME3 where you could slide over to the other side of a door way, or slide crate to crate, etc etc. this one will force you into cover even if you're not wanting to. It's not awful and I can tolerate it, but I preferred the original cover system. It gave more options than this one does.

Agree? Disagree? I found myself having more fun in ME2 and ME3 with that cover system while in ME:A, it feels ineffective. I recall in ME2 and ME3, you automatically switched angles when aiming your adversaries, while in this game, everything is done manually. What are your thoughts on the Cover System? I disagree I have zero problems with it and works fine, because you see if anything is waist high then it registers and to me in my opinion the cover system is 100 times better than the cover system in 2-3 |

I prefer the greater mobility that the auto-cover and ME3MP inspired side dashing provides(along with the jet packing) vs the pop a mole sticky cover and gameplay of ME2 and 3.

I think it's really great, actually. Makes the combat feel much more dynamic when I can take cover behind pretty much anything, and the need for intrusive, blatantly obvious chest-high walls has been eliminated.

It's not perfect but I like it more than sticky cover. In particular I wish I could manually crouch out of cover or stand when in cover.

It's the best cover system in the series, as far as I'm concerned.
Not having to worry about hitting a button to take cover only to have it hop over said cover, or to revive a teammate only to get stuck in a corner while they bleed out is absolutely an improvement.
As well, adding int he handedness switch, and the ability to blind fire, and evading, makes MEA's cover system my favorite - not only in the Mass Effect series, but in any of the cover based shooters I've played.
