So I've noticed that a not a lot of people are talking about the Angaran Insurgent. But I love this guy, he's my most played character and he feels really powerful to me. I decided to do a gold run solo for a challenge and to show off how good he can be. It took a couple of attempts, allthough the hardest part was arguably avoiding upload or devices as the objective
. Keep in mind that this is on xbox so sorry for the lack of master race preciscion aim. Not really showing this to brag, I mostly wanna show off how good the insurgent is.

For equipment I used a power recharge 1 mod and incendiary ammo 1, gun is the Talon X.
Now, on to the build! This is for a level x character, if you don't have many unlocks for him save offensive tech unlocks for later.
Shield Boost: 4b, 5a, 6b.
I pick more shields over radius on rank 4 because there won't always be teammates near me to boost, often I'll be on my own and then the radius is wasted. For rank 5 recharge is nice because it reduces the cooldown to only 10 seconds. I then pick duration on rank 6, combined with offensive tech rank 4 this gives shield boost a 6 second duration. So basically you can technically have shield boost active 60% of the time. This works great.
Turret: 1 point.
Trip mine: 4a, 5a, 6b.
I pick radius because I feel it makes them more reliable and easier to detonate, this also means I can just throw them on the ground and don't need to put them on walls. Rank 5 damage, the radius is allready very large. Rank 6 stun is great, the other option is trash.
Offensive tech: 4a, 5b, 6a.
4a makes your shield boost last longer and boosts tripmine damage. 5 is optional really but I like the armor damage. 6 weapon boost is nice for helping the team output more damage, his carry capacity is allready high so the other perk is not that needed imo.
Bioelectric defence: 4b, 5a, 6a.
Rank 4 is optional but I like the health regen. Rank 5 a for extra tripmines. Rank 6 is a key to why this guy is so great. This perk basically gives you and your nearby allies 80 damage reduction (around 45%) for 5 seconds every 15 seconds. This is great for supporting your team, and combined with shield boost it makes this guy tankier than pretty much any class other than the krogan vanguard. You can play very reckless with little fear of dying. You can revive teammates in front of a hydra with no problem (as long as you pop shield boost). Bioelectric ward is great, and it makes the angaras really good
I like to skip turret and max out everything else. Turret isn't worth it compared to the other skills he has in my opinion, even at level 1 it's an ok distraction though.
As for the playstyle, tripmines are obviously a huge source or damage and they can either be used to nuke spawns or placed in choke points as enemies funnel in. Their radius is very large and it's easy to get 3-4 kills at a time with them especially with the stun upgrade. The stun is very good, makes it very easy for you and your teammates to line up free headshots on enemies like berserkers, and it sets targets up for a tech burst as well.
He is a very good ''team player'' character, since he can support his team with ward, shield boost and damage boost from rank 6 offensive tech. He is super good on objective rounds, both for keeping his team alive and from preventing enemies from swarming the objectives with stun tripmines.
I like to use talon on him, but any ''good'' weapon would work. I'm sure vanquisher on pc with the stun mines would be pretty ridiculous, free headshots all day. Equalizer, hurricane, piranha, falcon, scorpion are other decent options.
Overall a really great class, I think people are sleeping on him a bit so hopefully this will motivate some of you to check him out!
