Learned to avoid DA:I's mistakes? Good!
If anything, quests need to be game related, either to the character(s) or game objectives. I hope Bio hooks and encourages the player when exploring. Easier said than done but avoiding time sink fetch quests or irrelevant NPC 's "help me get my daughter's doll back" is a starting point. I don't like this "it's easy to get lost". Exploring vast surface areas and getting lost is a time sink no matter how you couch it. Exploring cave tunnels that can re-arrange themselves when returning to the surface is interesting but can become an exercise in frustration if not done right.
Learned from ME1-3 mistakes?
Let's hope the Bio writers avoid painting themselves into a corner with plot devices that will bite them in the azz when writing game 2-3 of Mass Effect Andromeda.

I read pretty much every interview so far and have the feeling that they take as much inspiration from The Witcher III as from DA:I (if not more). So far I'm pretty optimistic that they take the best from various sources of inspiration, combine it with so much stuff that was awesome in the original trilogy and will deliver one of the most epic and immersive games ever. In theory a game built on the strengths of DA:I and TW3 could be especially good. Both had their issues but were good games, it would be interesting to find out what they mean by that. Which parts of the witcher have they taken inspiration from? I'm hoping they mean side missions, in terms of returning cinematic's and giving them depth or even consequence. And of course Novigrad. But would still be looking for that Mass Effect feel and I hope Inquisition is less of an influence than it appears atm with so little known. Which is likely the case. I feel like the picture is getting clearer and i just want to see something of the characters. If this game is in fact a spiritual successor to Mass Effect 1 (which is the vibe we're getting.) this is great news. I'm happy to hear it. Almost every side quest was well written, important and awesome in TW3. I hope that they are aiming for side quests like that and not the type of Shepard heard something and now he needs to scan that planet. That type of side quest is

I hope there is a walking option. Traveling long distances with the Mako is cool but sometimes you may lose some details on the map if you do that. Witcher 3 offers a lot of rewards to players who explore the map not only by horse but on foot too. could you/someone expand a bit on that if you don't mind? it sounds good and I'm considering getting TW3. on the thread topic, it's nice to see official confirmation (pretty much) of the Pathfinder thing.

I mean you can easily miss things like quests or points of interest if you go to all places galloping on your horse.
I usually only use the horses in a few quests or after i have explored a lot some area on foot.

Like I wrote in the op: it's what the journalist writes, not a quote by BioWare. I think the journalist is just copy pasting stuff and had no idea this would be 'news'.
