Would it work? Will it be better or worse than 3rd Person? What will be your take on it?Why? All opinions are welcome, it's just for a fun discussion!

Would hate it. My stomach can't handle those movements. I'd never be able to play ME again.

Eh, it is best left as a third person game. If it went first person, it would be like Planet Side 2. Plus, third person allows you to see more of the battlefield and the cool ass gun and armor you have on.

Not with all the plat forming you have to do. Hahaha, good point! I didn't even think of that, however, the Far Cry series made it work with all the climbing and jumping.

I prefer third person to first person, but I'd still play it regardless.

Make ME games first person and I'd never be able to play one again, this would vex me greatly. Damn motion sickness.

It just wouldn't be Mass Effect. I do play FPS games as well, but ME has always been 3rd person and I enjoy playing it that way.

I'm strictly mouse and keyboard (no controller ever), and I find this works best on first person games. So I prefer first person and will select that option when there's a choice. In fact, I don't like the majority of third person games, because I usually don't find M&KB to be a satisfying way of doing the control. Witcher 3 is an example of this: great game, but the control feels off to me. For some reason, with Mass Effect, I've always felt I have good control despite the third person perspective, so I'm not really missing first person.

Not with all the plat forming you have to do. Actually, platforming can be done in first person, but the ledge grabbing doesn't lend itself well there, unless you want Mirror's Effect. In any case, nuts to FPS Mass Effect. I love seeing my character dodge and duck and weave in combat, not to mention those little transitions between cutscene and player control gameplay.

I prefer 3rd person view. I don't play too many exclusively 1st person games anymore tbh so my interest would greatly decrease. Though if they had made the gameplay like the cancelled prey 2 would have been, maybe I would be interested. That said Mass Effect is better off being 3rd person imo.

I think the different gameplay styles of Mass Effect (biotics, tech powers, guns, melee, plus squadmates) work best as third-person, and first-person platforming sucks too.
Also, while I highly enjoy high-movement gameplay, Andromeda's gunfights can get even more nervous than DOOM's thanks to the jetpacks and Charge and all that jazz. It could get annoying as a first-person game, not to mention nauseating for those with motion sickness.

Creating my character is a big part of my enjoyment in these games. A FPS would just be staring at hands the whole time. I'd also be a lot less forgiving of it's flaws because when it comes to exploring Vaults in a FPS RPG setting then it's all about Borderlands. For me, that's a comparison ME would come away badly from.

For powers like nova, charge and such, it would probably zoom out to third person view so you can see what you're doing, but with being able to spam these powers it'd probably be nauseating.

The combat and gameplay is by and large very good in MEA. It does need some balance, but fundamentally it is a strength of the game. Lots of things should be changed in the future, but I think changing this would be misplaced.

One day we'll have games with good interchangeable first person and third person perspectives. But I don't think it would work for Mass Effect just yet. Now, that would be something huh?

I really don't like fps games in general, I do have exceptions for halo, borderlands, destiny, and ehh, that's about it. I genuinely don't like fps games and at heart I prefer third person views. Gears being a big one and mass effect/dragon age for story elements.
That doesn't mean mass effect couldn't make it work though, fps are very popular, arguably they are the top of the market. The issue however is would mass effect be able to stand out as the fps is bloated with TONS of games and franchisescopying/borrowing off each other. Mass effect wouldn't be the only fps rpg with choices if it was put out there. It'd need to do something to stand out if they were to ever do that. "If" they do that, they need to still keep people making the third person games cuz as I said from the start, I genuinely don't like fps for the most part.

I'd be sad that one of my favorite RPG series transitioned fully into a first person shooter.
I like a good FPS every now and then, but there are so many of them. If you walked into a GameStop and counted the games on the shelves by genre, I bet FPS would probably account for more than half of all games on the shelves. There's no need to convert one of the few RPG series into yet another shooter.

What about a dual mode a la Fallout 4?
Where you can switch to 3rd or 1st person when ever you like?
Would you actually use the function then, if at all?
