Guy in the vid explains it's not the X-Bone controller creatng too much dead zone, but the actual games themselves. So far I only have tried MEA with a Dual Shock 4 and the amount of dead zone is bad, very bad. Will soon buy an X-Bone, or better yet X-Bone elite controller, to try on my upcoming via mail CronosMaxPlus for play on PS4 for a personal comparison. But if it is mostly on BioWare's fault, I think we should complain loud enough and see if BioWare even cares to fix it.

Why? Deadzone make you less accurate.

I am somewhat confused on what's going on. I did try my ps4 controller while playing the game on my PC, and my god the pin point accuracy is awful. When zoomed in moving it feels like cement. I don't think that is the dead zone though.

You should want less not more. Large deadzones makes it hard to aim, currently the deadzones are too large.

I watched the video. It seems each one basically moved when he moved the joy stick, so I still don't understand.

It's how much you have to move the analog stick until it actually even begins to respond on screen. The more you have to move an analog stick to even begin moving, the bigger the dead zone. That's why it's called a dead zone, because nothing happens in game within a certain range of analog stick motion. And this dead zone issue is why it's so much harder to aim in MEA VS ME3.
I hear the X-Bone Elite controller has a dead zone adjuster, but I don't think that will work on my PS4. And I honestly have zero hopes for BioWare fixing this issue, so... I might just have to buy an X-Bone tomorrow and start all over in MEAmp. Buying a PS4 over X-Bone for MEA was a big mistake I'm constantly reminded of, and this is the final straw that broke me. If I can't aim at my best in MEA, then what's the point of even playing MEA.

If only my current rig could handle MEA, but I would still play it with a controller. Mouse and key aiming will never be my thing. Why it took until ME3mp got a controller mod for me to finally switch over to pc.

Seems like the X-Bone had a firmware update to allow dead zone calibration (unless just for Elite controller). More proof that Microsoft has gamers working for them, while Sony has only suits working for them. So dead zone calibrations, players met that actually works and not left to dev hands (which is why it don't work for MEAmp on PS4), elite controller option on top of better default controller, overall better online UI and community, and whatever else I'm forgetting. MEAmp is best experienced on X-Bone despite the lower screen resolution (900p VS 1080p) and lower console install base (which affects total online player base). So pick your poison.

I do own a x-bone controller as well. I may give it a shot because I get tired sometimes of always having my hand on mouse and keyboard. Sometimes I prefer them on my lap with a controller.

I cant say ive had a problem on PS4, but I guess I have just adapted to the controls. Ive had a few friends say that the controls "felt a little off" but couldnt place why - the deadzone issue is is likely the reason.
In a twitch shooter it would be much more of a problem, but I tend to be slower and more methodical in mass effect - line up shots whilst still behind cover etc.

This is most likely why I have lost my ability to quick snap headshots with snipers like I could in ME3. I went back and played a game in ME3 and could still land every headshot instantly even while dragging my aimer across the screen.
Switched back to MEA and was shooting too early nearly every time. The deadzones would explain that, well that and the headshots not counting off host but thats a whole other topic.

I can aim fine in ME3mp (in particular with X-Box 360 controller. Never reached same aiming levels with Sony ones), but with MEAmp it's like I've just started playing shooter videogames for the first time.

Its not only bad for controllers. We PC users can't disable mouse acceleration and that makes aiming a real pain in the ass.

Well not enough people are complaining about it, so we better get used to it or look to other solutions (X-Bone Elite controller for me. I'm sure someone will come with a mod fix for pc players).

If I can't aim at my best in MEA, then what's the point of even playing MEA. Dead zone is not a reason to buy a shit X-box with hardly any good exclusive games. Lets not start a console war, we will both lose to the PC master race! Its like arguing over whose farts smell the nicest. If its a software issue, then surely the change in peripherals wont make a difference? Unless xbox ones mass effect got a patch to incorporate it, adjusting the deadzone will only affect your input into the game, which still might not affect how the game interprets it. On other games on the PS4 for example, there is no deadzone issue, you can improve its sensitivity perhaps on those games due to the way they handle input. For example, using your xbox elite controller can improve deadzone on call of duty, because the game doesnt limit what you input other than trigger pull ROF. It seems to me that in a game which actually feels like your input is lagging slightly because it limits your responsiveness - the other controller can only improve the information sent to the game, not what your game does with it. I could be wrong.

Alright, I found a temp solution for helping make the dead zones less noticeable. Don't play it wireless. Especially on Dual Shock 4 because they're still off bluetooth, so more input delay then on what X-Bone uses.

Can't stand the PS4 controller for sniping. Horrible. It comes down to the game. Destiny and several other FPS games were great with a PS4 controller.
