Element Zero Thanks for the offer but I'm on PC. Is the Dead Kings expansion fun story wise? And is the sword the lightning sword? Or something else? And if it isn't does the lightning sword ever return? phoray Not sure if it helps, but you could try remapping the Turn Right/Left controls to the Right/Left arrow and then you can look around the x-axis using the arrow keys. No idea how you'd go around getting the arrows to look up or down, but it's something. --- As for the main topic, may or may not have enjoyed swooning over LaCroix. And managed to squeeze two more questions out of the character creator. What do ya do when someone punches you in the theater? (Punch 'em back and make them lick the floor) and Favored Martial Art? (Fisticuffs, but Kendo also sounds nice.) You will see that sword again, but that wasn’t the one to which I was referring. Dead Kings was good. If you end up liking the main game, you should like it. It’s set in Saint Denis (then Franciade), which used to be miles outside of Paris. The atmosphere is dark and rainy, which can be oppressive. You spend time exploring the royal crypts, though, it’s not always an issue. The Eagle of Suger is the sword attained by solving a pretty elaborate investigation puzzle. It’s an artifact weapon with a 25% chance to flash and blind targets on each swing. It’s crazy powerful.

ATLAS After chatting with the group I usually hang out with, I decided to stay a while longer. They went out to tame a rhino and brought it back. Basically, like Dark and Light, tamed animals become pack animals and gatherers. Rhinos can gather a lot of stone. A bull can gather fibers / thatch. A bear can gather a lot of vegetables, berries and fibers. Lions and wolves are just pack animals and good guard dogs around the base. A horse does not gather but it has speed and agility. I was bemused when I asked captain what happens when an avatar aged to 100 years old. Player avatars age in the game. Mine is already 53 years old. I know they will die at 100 but what happens after that? Does the player restart a new avatar? Does that avatar come with all the skills already learned? It turns out the avatar will die at 100 years of age and the new avatar does not acquire all the skills of the old one. So it's square one again. He then let dropped that male and female avatars can mate and produce a child which one of the players can take over once they reach 100 years old. I thought he was pulling my leg. He said he wasn't and suggested I looked it up. Sure enough, it was stated as such. There's also an alternative; find a fountain of youth and drink from it. This particular game mechanic (mating) is available to the animals though I don't think it's available to the avatars yet. I didn't ask him about it because my avatar is one of two female avatars in the company. Nope, I don't want to know! I tried riding the rhino and found it's hard to move him around. He's big and heavy. I also tried the bear which is slightly less heavy but moves in a lumbering way. The wolf and lioness are faster. The latter particularly has a long leap. The rhino has a nice colour to it. It came to a point when there was only two of us left in game. I hung on because there was nowhere to park the rhino safely and we couldn't improve the barn because neither of us have admin rights. One player popped in and I handed the rhino over to him after making sure he could get it to follow him and stay where he wants it to. I should have made sure they knew the commands better because I logged in to find that the rhino was dead. They put it on passive flee which is the most stupid thing to do. Passive flee means the animal just runs away from danger and will keep running if chased. If there's no one around, it's effectively dead which was what happened. It ran away from a lion and went off a cliff. They said it was an alpha lion so there was no saving it. True. But there's a chance they could save it if all of them attacked the lion while it was busy with the rhino. Instead, they lost control and could do nothing because the rhino just kept running. Oh well. Spent a couple of hours chasing and taming a horse for the captain who lost his to a lion or was it a wolf. Whatever. It was tiring; chasing a horse from one end to the other. Dark and Light did this slightly better because of the snare arrows. In Atlas, you have to use a lion to latch onto the horse and try to move it to the taming enclosure. However, the latch on is not permanent so the horse keeps running off when freed. He talked of getting a female horse to mate with the male horse but by then, the four of us were heartily tired. So that's for another day.

More Edith Finch. I've decided that, more than anything, the house is claustrophobic. That everything is in disarray doesn't help, but even if stuff was where it should be, it still feels too closed in. It's also giving me flashbacks to a recurring dream I used to have about sneaking my way through secret passages in my house, only to not be able to use them the next time I had the dream since I'd grown and no longer fit. Apparently some people are appalled by the fact that Edith is 22 wks pregnant but only 17 yrs old. I just shrug and say, shit happens.

It’s not appalling, it just makes some doors a hell of a lot tougher to open. Like you said, things happen. No reason games shouldn’t depict unwise or flawed characters.

I hope it's ok to put this in here. I decided to catalogue my Skyrim VR journey in a journal, written by my character. Not sure if I'll be able to keep it up all the way but for now, it's fun. The first entry also explains a lot of the background story, so it's a tad long (hence the spoiler tags). Check out the last page for what the actual playin experience was like.
6th Journal of Thoralyon of Silverbrook
Knight Guardian of the Imperial Dragon
Shadow Ward of his Majesty Emperor Titus Mede II of Tamriel
Preface: Dear Reader,
Should you find this book on a warrior's corpse and should you be a loyal subject of the Empire, I bestow upon you this most urgent and holy quest: Bring this record of my deeds to the White City of Cyrodil and gain entry into the Imperial Palace by the grace of Akatosh. To do so, invoke my name, Thoralyon of Silverbrook and place this journal in the hands of the castle steward Equintus Arentis or his successor, should he have passed. Do not dare to read further as the accounts recorded in this tome are for the eyes of those, chosen by Arkay to live as kings and emperors, imbued with the wisdom of Julianos and graced by the favor of Akatosh, the Dragon of Time. Consider it your patriotic duty to do so good citizen and know that your reward for a task faithfully carried out will be grand indeed.
Should you however be a miscreant, subversive scoundrel, out to destroy civilization and peace as we have known for the ages at the benevolent rule of the Empire, leave your hands of this text or be cursed by the fury of all the Divine. May lightning strike you down on this earth and the fires of Oblivion consume the darkness of your soul.
Thus is my will by the power of a life lived in holy purity and virtue to the best of my abilities faithful and resolute. For the Empire!
First Entry: 17th Last Seed 4E 201, Riverwood, Whiterun Hold, Skyrim
Finally, I am free! I have arrived in Skyrim and am now ready to begin my mission. However, before I do so, I will have to detail the circumstances under which I did arrive in Skyrim, if only to explain why my journey here took almost an entire year. After all, I left the Imperial City early in the months of Morning Star. My journey to the border town of Bruma was fairly uneventful and took less than two weeks. From there, I made my way to border when one night, I spotted the shimmer of camp fires just off the road. I stowed most of my equipment under some rocks and approached the fires silently. Even in the dim light, I could make out the blue cloaks of the Sons of Skyrim. I had found my quarry sooner than anticipated and I decided to scout them out. Unfortunately, as I lay there in the dark, taking mental notes of the routine of the Nord soldiers, an imperial contingent, probably sent from one of the border outposts started a surprise attack. I tried to make a silent exit but three of the imperial soldiers stumbled upon me in the dark. I did not want to fight loyal soldiers of the Empire, so I surrendered, hoping to be able to reason with their commander later. After all, I had an encoded letter of safe conduct in my bag. But when the commander sent men to the site I specified to them the next morning, they reported that nothing was found under the rocks where my pack had been hidden. I do not know if it was stolen by thieves, if the soldiers were scoundrels and kept the loot for themselves or if some other devious power had their hands in this, in the end, it matters not, my pack and my letter were gone.
Without evidence to the contrary, the commander obviously assumed me to be part of the enemy force they had just crushed. After all, I wore no emblems, nor rings or insignia that would show me to be a loyal agent of the Empire and the Stormcloaks had been known to recruit outlander scouts from time to time. So I was chained and thrown in a dungeon to rot for half a year.Occasionally, they would beat me or use other means of torture to see if I held any secrets. Even a mage (or rather some young fellow, I believe to be an apprentice at best) showed up one day to extract information directly from my mind but all he managed was to make me dizzy and rattle my thoughts. I am ashamed to report that this imprisonment cost me much of both my physical and mental strength but make no mistake, I am determined to win both back in order to accomplish my mission. The soldiers and guards, even the torturers, I bear no ill will, they just did their duty and acted as they should have.
When they finally dragged me out into daylight and shoved my onto a crude cart yesterday, I heard rumors among my guards that Ulfric Stormcloak himself, the leader of the Sons of Skyrim and the sole cause for all our troubles had been captured and sure enough, we weren't even on the road longer than a few hours when our cart stopped and a patrol dragged three more prisoners onto the wooden benches, Ulfric among them. When we finally arrived in the village of Helgen, I knew we were going to our deaths but I was content to know that the civil war would be over and my mission was a success even if I myself had nothing to do with the outcome.
But things should turn out differently. When my head was already lying on the block and the executioner was hauling up his axe, the unthinkable happened. Stormclouds formed at impossible speed, swirling up in the sky in an unnatural vortex, the whole village was plunged into an ominous twilight and then a DRAGON flew just overhead. I swear by the beauty of Dibella, I saw it with my own eyes. The dragon set down on a nearby tower and shouted words of immense power. Fireballs reigned from the sky, buildings collapsed and people screamed. The executioner was hauled off his feet and everyone ran for cover. Determined not to loose sight on Ulfric, I followed the Nords into a tower but my hands were still bound, there was nothing I could do and the dragon proceeded to engulf our shabby cover in flames. I had no choice bu to jump through a whole in the wall and I ended up back on the ground near a young imperial soldier. Together, we made our way into the keep from which we escaped Helgen though some caves, leading out into the mountains from the cellars of the guard barracks.
When we emerged, the dragon had flown off. Helgen lay in ruins. However, there was no sight of the Stormcloak prisoners. We had killed a few of them in the caves but I had to assume that Ulfric escaped. Thus, my mission remains as crucial and as urgent as it was when I left Cyrodil to come into this frozen haunted wasteland. And I will not fail my Emperor. I will end this war.
But now, another mystery, just as urgent remains to be solved. Where did the dragon come from? What is it's intention and what does this mean for the entirety of the Empire, for Tamriel, by Stendarr maybe even for Nirn itself? I have to investigate this appearance further. I know his Majesty would want me to do this and thus I shall obey the unspoken command of my liege.
The young soldier, a Nord who goes by the name of Hadvar turned out to be a good lad. He accompanied me to the nearby village of Riverwood, where his uncle is the local blacksmith. The village itself is no more then a few meager huts and a sawmill along the river but it is a welcome shelter at the end of such an eventful day. The blacksmith allowed me to stay. In return I promised to take my message of the dragon's appearance to the local Jarl in the city of Whiterun and ask for help for the village. A small price to pay, considering that this was my plan anyway. Before the light of day gave out I also stopped by the small shop in the village, where I walked in on an argument between the shopkeeper and his sister about some stolen property. The villagers are decent people and I cannot abide lawless scum that would steal from honest working folk, so before I head off to Whiterun I plan to seek out the bandit's lair in the mountains on the morrow, return the shopkeeper's goods and teach those rogues a lesson. It will also be a good test of my skills. I still feel the weakness in my aching muscles but a few lowly thieves should not be a challenge for my years of training as a holy warrior of the realm, even if I am not at my peak.
For now though, the embers of the blacksmith's fires grow dim and the moon is already high in the sky. I shall rest easy this night without shackles and enjoy my newly regained freedom.

Moar Assassin's Creed Unity. Lots of Main Questing today, so summery is going to be pretty spoilery. Non-spoiler/TL:DR Made it to sequence 10, did a few side missions and found all the view points. Yay.
Yes Arno, you could have planned this a bit better. As in, torch the place AFTER you are outside. But it was a funny goof since it wasn't fatal, so it's good.
Next big assassination was again, fair fun. Finally figured out what Cover Kill meant. Hehe. Yeah. So used to it meaning hay stack killing, so didn't connect that there is a literal Cover function which you can shank people from.
The reaction the mentors had to that kill was also funny. And made me ponder a bit. This is the first time since the first game that you are connected to a proper Assassin house. Ezio was pretty much solo in the first game, then the boss in the other two. Connor was pretty much riding solo with some minor guidance. Aveline was mostly working for that crazy swamp man. Edward was just a pirate. Adewalé was on a detour. Shay went rogue. So it was fun to go Ahhh yes, should be asking for permission like they pretty much tried to beat into you in the first game.
Hotel visit was fun. As observant as the guards were in the beginning, rat man seemed a bit dense. Unless it was all according to plan I guess. Since like, I was in plain sight like twice. But then again someone spotted a spy, so.
Did not expect bad guy to be a bad guy. Granted I had my suspicion about his eyes being highlighted like that, but still.
Did not figure out the killer until the reveal either. Was dead set on the first suspect and expecting a very dramatic run about. But at least it was dramatic. And a bit sad. But it made me kinda think there could be more banter between Arno and the NPCs. To get to know them better so it hurts more when something happens.
Said Hi to Napoleon. Where he was pointing that gun did nothing good for my mind. But so far he's quite nice. Got real miffed at the next kill, since I didn't see the Cover Kill challenge until I had killed most of the peeps available for that sort of fun >:C Do not like the trend of challenges silently popping up in the corner and then mocking me because I had no idea they should have been done. >:C Extra annoying since I accidentally shanked the target while trying to squeeze out a few more cover kills out of the guards. Got so mad. Chasing boats was okay, but the party was fun. Am getting incredibly sloppy, so it's good that as the game goes on the guards sight seems to worsen. The target kill was hilarious because Arno flipped them over his shoulder and slammed them into the floor. So he really knows how to kill a lady. And also YES. Finally. Evil Wimmen. Final mission in Sequence 9 was kinda fun, but mostly liked the sweet cutscene in the end. As for side quests, solved three murder mysteries, one had hot chocolate, one was enjoying a bath and the final seemed to have lost his head. Good times. Then escorted a grieving mother and dueled 5 people. And both quest gave me the sight of fancy dresses being awesome. So good times. Will probably go picking chests next session, since I've finally maxed out his lockpicking. All your treasures are belong to us.

Got a flamethrower thing for my ship in AC: Odyssey
That's like the best thing anyone could ever give me. Just simply wonderful!
I quickly used it to set fires to everything and everyone that got within a few miles of me. The world will burn in my coming!

Got a flamethrower thing for my ship in AC: Odyssey Flamethrowers should be a thing in every game with combat. I loved playing a Vorcha in ME3MP with a flamethrower, and using it in MEA is loads of fun too. I think that was the thing I was most excited about when watching the gameplay previews.

The Cleaners in The division were actually quite scary, I am talking doing combat and my hands are shaking cause this guy with this huge damn Flame thrower is trying to melt me scary!!!!! They were also just plain psycho's as well as evidenced in game by some of the shit they did.

I am still in the very early stages of Skyrim, but one spell you have from the getgo is "Flames", which is ... you guessed it, a magical flamethower.
Except when it the enemies using them against you!!!!!! Aw man, Garrus recruitment mission in ME2, the left corridor when you clean out the basement. Those frigging Flamethrower Vorcha behind the corner and you don't even have time to just wait them out.

Those particular vorcha are the most dangerous foes in the entire game on Insanity. I rarely die while playing any of the ME games; by when I do, it’s by vorcha flamethrower. (Stay thirsty, my friends) Curious Crow , I’m glad you’re enjoying Unity. Your recap brings so many great moments back to my mind. I loved Unity’s black box assassination missions. People talk like its story was badly under-cooked, but I thought it was pretty solid. They definitely should’ve cut the fluff and beefed up the main content even more, but what was present was good. I enjoyed the big mystery of the main plot; the lesser but important one within the Brotherhood; and the side mysteries that were just fun to solve. A few of the game’s foes were pretty clever. I also loved the Marquis de Sade. I’m not sure if his VA is the same as Alkibiades’ in Odyssey (it sure sounds like it); but they share more similarities than just the voice. Those little blue (teal?) icons are always super short tasks and give easy money. It’s a good way to get rich quickly in the early going. (I should’ve mentioned that in my early game advice.) By the stage you’ve reached, its better to run a few high-level heists. You can make enough livre in 10 minutes to buy a few legendary pieces. Now that your lockpicking is maxed, you can access all of the skill points hidden in the CoOp missions. Speaking of Unity’s lockpicking, it’s the best I’ve ever experienced in any game. It’s the perfect blend of player skill and character skill. Many a time I opened a tier-3 door while under pressure during a CoOp mission. Those were so fun.

One of my projects this year is to finish a few games and series that I've started but never completed. First up was Gabriel Knight: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned which took me about two weeks to finish.
On the whole I thought it had some problems that made it not quite as good as the first two games, not least the fact that it's a complete pain in the arse to make it run on a modern PC, even if you buy it from GOG who are usually great about comparability issues. That said, the story is excellent once you actually get into it. A shame that it was the last instalment.

Aw man, Garrus recruitment mission in ME2, the left corridor when you clean out the basement. Those frigging Flamethrower Vorcha behind the corner and you don't even have time to just wait them out. Took me sooooo many times on insanity to get past those guys!
A shame that it was the last instalment. Yeah, still waiting for episode 4.

More Pillars of Eternity, ended up starting over as my earlier time with the game was feeling out to see what I wanted my first Watcher to be. Settled on a female Moutain Dwarf Paladin (Kind Wayfarers). Made a little bit of quest progress, picked up some party members (as well as hired a couple, Wood Elf Cipher and Human Priest).

Fort Defiance is found but to reach the upper floors in janette needs a valid military ID. Her recruitment at Ft McClintock doesn't seem to be enough. Defiance happens to be an old asylum. Well, to get the ID she had to go to the Charleston DMV. A lovely excursion into robotic bureaucracy later she has her valid military grade ID. So scrounging Charleston led her once again up to Wade city airport. Claim it says pip-boy. Sure, Janette clears out the enemies and postpones the claiming for some killing of straggling super mutants. Then some other player claims the workshop. Well, no problem really BUT the door up the tower is locked and in a weak moment Janette picks the lock. And gets wanted for breaking and entering! 10 caps. Time to turn pacifist off then I guess. Played some Stellaris today, for the first time with the new UI layout. Still learning where everything is now. I'm playing the Human Empire, I forget the exact name. But it doesn't matter, I am the empire. All non-humans will submit to my clear superiority. Today, I got as much territory as I could under my belt, had someone delcare war on me, took a planet from them, and made friends with another neighbor who is alien and opposed to me in almost every way you can think of. Spoilers for the explination: so the war was pretty funny. They declared war on me, with the goal is forcing me to remove my xenophobia, and changing my leadership. So I built up my starbase along the only route they could get to me, put 2 weapon mounts on it. Then they sent their fleet in, it was a close fight too. My starbase took out half the attacking ships before they flipped it, and ran back home for repairs. Then my fleet showed up, took it back with almost no casualties, and hung around. We were able to repair at the starbase.
Then their fleet tried to just skip right past the star system. My fleet caught the now half strength fleet, and wiped the floor with them. Then I waited for the next fleet, next to the starbase. All the while, watching my peoples war fatigue climb higher then the enemies.
So, not wanting to have to admit defeat, I hoped by taking a planet, my people would be happy and lose some fatigue. So I went into their nearest populated world, took out the starbase, started orbitaly bombarding them while I traied up some armies, and took it. The moment that planet was under my control, the enemy asked if we could return to the status quo. Where I keep my currently controlled territory, and they keep theirs. I had to say yes, as my war fatigue was getting too high. So now I have their people enslaved.
I'd like to free them, and see if they try anything. Something to try when I get home.
And my freinds that are simply oposed to me in every other way is pretty simple. They are currently adversaries with 2 empires. I declared those same empires adversaries of mine, and opened my borders to the friends. Now we've got a trade treaty going, we've got a research agreement, and we've got a non-agression pact. We'll see how long this lasts, after all, my empire is xeno-phobic. but maybe they'll be good enough to become a vassal of mine. Then I could integrate them into my empire as subjects.

My time as outlaw didn't go to well. At first i made it to sutton station, unloaded my junk, did some scrapping and then I had to go shopping with my wife. So when I logged in a couple of hours later I barely got my bearings, opened pip-boy, to look over status effects, and replenish fluids. Then BLAM. Covered in some yellow plasma goo or something. Dead. Short but sweet? Everything back to normal in Appalachia.

I've played as them and against them many a time during my various Stellaris campaigns.

Another entry in the ongoing journal of my Skyrim VR character Thoralyon: Second entry: 18th Last Seed 4E 201, Honningbrew Meadery, Whiterun Hold, Skyrim
In the morning I asked the maiden Camilla to show me the way to the bandits hideout. It was an old Nord ruin, up in the mountains north of the village of Riverwood. The climb up was not long but the steep rocky road was slippery from the wet snow and mud. As I ascended further, snowfall set in, the wind picked up and its icy touch reminded me of where I was in the world. Though I spent most of my life traveling the imperial provinces or at the court of the White City, it is times like this that I wish myself back to the dry deserts of my ancestral homelands in Hammerfell or to the milder climate of the Illiac Bay.
But there is no honor in whining about the hardships that a righteous cause may bring with it, so on I went, undeterred. A forward force of the scoundrels I sought had made themselves at home in an abandoned imperial watchtower. They were better equiped than I was but their skills in the art of combat were pathetic. I dispatched them easily and took possession of their ill-gotten goods. One of the fiends had been wearing crude but heavy iron armor. Nothing befitting a warrior of my standing but better than the rags and bits of leather that I had scrounged together in the caves under Helgen the day before. Despite the low quality leather straps and the rust on the iron, it felt good to wear heavy plates on the chest and arms again.
I believe I surprised the rest of the thieves at the entrance to the ruins. There were four of them but I had an advantage they could not match. I tapped into the age old holy art of summoning arcane powers to me by thebenevolent will of the Divines that watch over me. Once I was a master of the art of combat magic, able to bring the wrath of the heavens itself down upon my enemies. After my imprisonment however, I was barely able to summon a petty flame from my finger tips. Still, this and my sword was enough to defeat my foes.
When I checked the bodies, to my dismay, I did not find the golden claw, the the merchant in Riverwood had been going on about. Maybe there was more bandit scum held up deeper within the burial chambers. Sure enough, I did find one more bandit trapped in a spider web. The rascal tried to flee as soon as I cut him down and freed him. I ran after him, not knowing what horro should await me beyond the next corner of the dark caves. There stood the bandit, in the midst of one of the burial chambers his face white as the snow, covering the mountain peak above us. As I followed h his gaze, I saw the cause of his fright. The dead mummified bodies, that were laid to rest in the alcoves of the chamber ages past ... they moved. I had seen undead before, while fighting necromancers and other unholy abusers of the magic arts, yet, one never gets used to seeing corpses rise from their eternal sleep. The thief raised his weapon in defense but one of the undead - the Nords call these poor cursed souls Draugrs, I believe - stepped up behind him, raised an ancient looking rusty blade and drove so deep in his neck that the bloody tip exited in the front of his throat. In death, the boy never lost his expression of shock and horror. I went into a fighting stance, preparing to defend myself against the creatures. In the narrow corridors, their numbers did not work to their advantage and my magical fire proved very effective against these linen wrapped corpses. I sent them back to the rest they deserved in death.
Upon the thieves body, I found the golden claw but before he died, the lad had spoken of a secret within these ruins, that the claw would reveal. I was intrigued and I wanted to find out about the draugr curse, possibly end it, lest they'd start terrorizing the local countryside if they ever should leave their mountain tomb. And so I labored on, deeper into the catacombs, fighting more of the undead along the way. The claw turned out to be key for a hidden doorway, beyond which I happened upon a wall, decorated in strange glyphs. The writing seemed to glow and as I approached I almost felt like the wall itself took a hold on me, burning the glyph and the sound of a word in a strange alien tongue into my mind. Even know, I can see it before my inner eye, clear as day, hear that voice within me. It is puzzling and I cannot make sense of what happened, yet I cannot shake the feeling that coming upon this wall and the word, though not fulfilling any obvious purpose, was the most significant event of my adventure today. As soon as I read the glyph, a large sarcophagus in the middle of the chamber opened and I stood face to face with the tallest draugr I had seen yet. The fight was swift but brutal. In the end, I managed to farce the fiend onto his knees. I raised up my blade and brought it down with such force, the steel buried itself in the rotten flesh from neck to groin.
The draugr menace of Bleakfalls Barrow was banished. Yet I still wonder, was it the strange glyph that brought this curse upon the ruins? Was it perhaps the dragon that woke up the dead with it's screams the day before? Only one thing, I can say for certain, there are signs and portents in this land and they do not bode well for the future. Hard times are ahead, dangerous times. But as servant of the Empire and by the right of virtue and all that is divine, I shall stand against this tide with all my might, and be it at the cost of my life. This I swear! The shopkeeper back in Riverwood was overjoyed when I returned his trinket but I would not be kept with pleasantries. The day grew late and I wanted to yet get some leagues of road behind me on the way to Whiterun. When dusk fell upon the plains of the hold, I reached the compound of the famed Honningbrew Meadery. I was hoping to find some pleasant company inside and maybe a bed for the night. Surely such a large house in the middle of the countryside would double as an inn to weary travelers. Alas, the occupants of the place seemed rather abrasive. If I didn't want to buy mead - and best yet in larger quantities, this was not a simple liquor shop after all - It would be best if I left as they were about to close for the night and they were not entertaining guests at late hours, I was told rather directly and shown to the door. To make matters worse, as I stepped back out into the grass, rain started to set in and a storm seems to be brewing in the night. I can see the lights of Whiterun somewhere in the distance to the northeast but I will never find my way in the dark. So now I am writing these lines, huddled under a small roof overhang in the back of the meadery, wrapped in a damp raggedy blanket. I won't find much rest tonight, that is for certain. But well, who said the life of an adventurer was always to be glorious. I will take comfort in the prospect of reaching Whiterun soon after dawn tomorrow. The city will offer all the comforts and distraction one could ask for and in my case, as well as for the sake of my mission, it will hopefully also provide some answers.

dazk I knew about the corner kills and stuff in the other games. Just had it in my head that Cover kill meant killing in a safe spot, like haybale or dressing booth. Had been avoiding the cover function like the plague, since the first mission I tried it Arno kept gluing himself to the wrong sides and refusing to leave. And I couldn't for the life of me move around corner without him deciding to fling himself into the room instead, at which point he'd be spotted and escorted out. So decided to stay as far away from cover as possible. Then when Arno got knives, I didn't really bother with hiding spots, since he can't whistle, so had (in my mind) no way to lure anybody to my location. Granted now I've learned about the cherry bombs, but when they come to investigate they never move close enough to the spot for them to be useful. So mostly use cover kills if I get lucky with placement or to thin out fools who dare follow me past corners, heh. No idea how to make him move around corners though.
Element Zero Heh I'm actually not a fan of Unity's lock-picking, but it is sooo much less glitchier than the one in AC3 for me, so at least it's not making me want to smash my head in. I almost cheered when I started Black Flag and saw Edward just kick the damn chest open. But I am enjoying the game. Have quite enjoyed the main story so far and the fluff is nice as well (but there is sooo much of it). --- On the subject of flamethrower Vorchas, I do love that you can explode them with overload if you manage to peel off their armor. ---- So there comes a time in every mans life where he must break into houses and cause mayhem. Which is mostly what happened in Assassin's Creed Unity today. Thinned out the map marks on the upper side of the river. Many a red garbed man was slain for standing to close to their valuable chests. Also did a few Paris Story Missions. The guillotine bit one can go in a hole though. Did the first bit then one of the moron that needed defending decided to charge away from the other fool, deep into enemy lines. And of course he died. But instead of popping me next to a checkpoint it said I had to redo the quest. And hahaha, not today. The Crimson Rose quests on the other hand were okay. Desiree's quest were just weird. Did like the flirtatious banter though, alluring ankles and muscular thighs are quite intriguing. But the end was kinda weird.
Also did some murder investigation. A spooky ghost, spiky wine and golden teeth.
Found a little background story while opening the chests. Seems one of the brutes had killed their friend and he was being eaten by two cats! And there was blood on the cats! Gross! Too bad I couldn't pet the cats. Also think I saw one of the brutes petting a kitty. I like to believe he was that sole survivor of the group he was in. Oh and got one of those shadow invites for the first time. Scared the heck out of me. Didn't take it because shy, so hope they got someone else to bite. But damn, spooked.
Also did a few more main quests and the opening line above still fits. Went to a party and had a grand old time. Botched a poisoning opportunity by spooking the target by killing all his men. Oops. But they tried to keep me away from the bar and that is a capital offence! Then went on to an execution party and also had a grand time. Added some more deaths to the event, so I feel like Arno did his part as an entertainment. Next up, updating the boss people and then a private party! Whooop. He does seem to seek the drink when things go wrong, so I guess we are kindred spirits in that manner. (Jk I drink all the time). Relived the procurement of wine and then continued the revelations in another palace. Cute stuff happened and then finally, Rat Man was dealt with. Still no acid and botched both the unique kill things, but managed to slam him on his face with a kind of wrestling move, so that was nice. If I understand his memory bit, then I do feel a bit sorry for him. But you've gone too far!
So now there is just the final Sequence left and then the Kingly Crypts I guess. Will probably need to look up how to activate them. Not sure if I can be bothered with the lower part of the map. Like if this was the end of the road I might, since I do like the stories and the city is nice. But I've tasted the forbidden fruit of flight and gosh darn it I can't wait to be a bird. And there are two games in the way. One if you can be the bird in Origins.
