I finally finished Cradle! This game is a trip. Very surreal feel. You play a 18-year old boy in the Mongolian desert, all alone except for the robot girl in his yurt and a traveling merchant, also a robot. Oh, and an eagle. It sounds really interesting but if the controls are that hard I'd ended up breaking something or having a cardiac arrest in frustration!!!!!! I didn't listen to all of it but I really like what I heard of the music. Hey Unicephalon 40-D thought you might like this game and music? Hm I will have to check this out, thanks for heads up!

Unpopular opinion: SteamPunk games are much better than Cyberpunk. I prefer that 19th century Victorian fancy clothings and tech to futuristic dystopian cyborgian Cyberpunk.

It sounds really interesting but if the controls are that hard I'd ended up breaking something or having a cardiac arrest in frustration!!!!!! If you're OK with mouse and keyboard the controls are fine. I mean, clunky like a late 90s game with Bethesda-like physics but functional. The main issue is that the gameplay isn't any fun. The devs even knew that the cube puzzles suck because when you fail them, you get the option to skip them. But it might take up to 20min to fail one. So that's not much use either.
I really want to like this game but it's just not good in the end. And the narrative is not THAT great to justify putting up with the gameplay. The story is more complex than it seems at first but what good is that when you're not having fun?
If you're into an Alan Wake sort of confusing narrative that requires you to ponder the ending for an hour before you get it, this might be worth buying. But even then it's too short. Everything is just hinted at. So what you're left with is just dull running back and forth between two locations. The interesting part is not on screen. It's the background leading up to where you are now.
This game would have worked much better as a pure walking simulator or a movie.

No interest in playing any games, hard as I try. This is my problem atm as well, been steamrolling through a series of at least 9 books (up to 6) and so Odyssey has taken a back seat. Also have a cold and that makes game playing harder but book reading easier!!!!!

Played some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Mutant Nightmare (Xbox 2005) coop, almost finished it and had some mild fun (level 13 is the end amirite?!). Could have been much better and it had a lot of potentials with more enemies, level design and gameplay. 5.5/10 imo And there's been mostly peace in my Portugal Civilization playthrough for 30 turn so I can upgrade my indfrastructure and military for the next war.

Played Fallout 76 yesterday, I was in the airport doing missions until I got a message from the game that an event was starting. It was then that a horde Scorched appeared out of nowhere howling for my blood. Part of me wanted to run and hide until the event was over, I was level 6 and had weak guns while the Scorched in this event were not only numerous but armed with weapons with special perks on them. However, drawn to the possibility of good loot I pressed forth and fought back. 8 Stimpacks and loads of wasted ammo later I survived the horde attack and received some decent armor and ammo for my troubles.

GOG is having a sale so of course I had to buy stuff. Obduction is free until June 1. I had bought it on Steam and then refunded it because I thought it was making me nauseous, but I think something else was making me sick. Even still, it was free so I couldn't pass it up. I bought Thronebreaker at 50% off, Syberia 3, an add-on for Everspace, and Metro 2033 to try out. It's FP so I may hate it immediately but the series sounds interesting so thought I'd give it shot. Now I just need time and motivation to play.....something. I bought Thronebreaker in the sale, I did a bit of the tutorial before deciding I wasn't in the mood to learn a new game, so I'm back in Thedas with Merrill as the Hero of Ferelden. i.imgur.com/KylRKNS.jpg

Normally I play Civ V when I have the flu. It works well when you have to sit up to be able to keep your airways free, and the hours pass quickly while you're getting past the worst of it.
This time I played something new though. Egypt: Predynastic and Egypt: Old Kingdom (from GOG). They're simple in some ways (essentially 2D), but very polished and gameplay is solid and well tested. Unlike Civ, the maps are static, and progress of history fairly static, so repeat-ability will eventually peter out.
I purchased them because I previously bought three books on ancient Egypt, to get a clearer and more complete picture of the history of ancient Egypt. And I have to say the games have a fair educational value.
I like these games, and hopefully there will be more installments in this series, because 'Old Kingdom' only covers the earliest period, and 'Predynastic' is before even that.

So a couple of days ago did the Lost Tale The Prodigal Brothers Return (?) and yesterday I finally had enough energy to put a couple of hours in to AC Odyssey and faffed around a bit and then did the Lost Tale for Athena "A Test of Judgement" or whatever its called. I don't mind it but I hate how most of these damn tales manage be in an areas without travel points nearby, just drags the damn things out. Anyway Kassandra rebuffed both brothers as both have at least one annoying point but enjoyed killing the bad guy at the end. Kassandra enjoyed the meal but was a bit pissed off at having to go out and kill the moose so no after dinner delights for you!!!! Thanks for the sparring practice but that's as far as that goes cause you are bit of a strange Malaka!!!! AC Odyssey does have to some good enemies who really deserve to die, this guy only made a short appearance but Kass was happy to kill him anyway. Yeah, NO, you are both a couple of Kangaroos short of a top paddock!!!! So then on to Athena well not literally, maybe the younger version on The Adrestia and anyway those god types are tricksy but I digress!!!! I'll keep this short, ran around and solved some riddles, found a guy who was dressed like a Lion and was sick, found him some medicine, he stopped his Lion "Brothers" attacking people, retrieved a key, explored a tomb in a volcano and brought a helmet back to Athena. Definitely a resemblance Little Lion Man Glowing "Tomb Raider" Thanks Athena

I finished Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines with ClanQuestMod with my Sabbat playthrough. I did choose a Toreador for that, because they are creepy as hell and the mod really did deliver. I don't know, if the dialogue is Torrie specific, but you can have a nice chat with Andrei the Tzimisce about his 'art'. My Torrie was smitten by it and as a reward for her praise, he fleshformed her, so that she had more strength and stamina - that really did come in handy. The Sabbat storyline was quite cool, the new characters are fun and Andrei has a lot more scenes (they did find a voice actor, that sounded similar to his original voice). I did find the anarchs a bit out of character though in the mod, but it was still fun. The Sabbat ending can be a good or bad one, depending on how you acted towards Andrei and your group throughout the game and based on some stats (won't get into detail, to not spoil it). I've gotten the good ending and it was really nice.
Now I have still my gentleman Nosferatu Mycroft Holmes and Hannah P. Lovecraft, my Malkavian. I think, Mycroft will go with the Camarilla ending (not Lacroix), because his clan is in the Camarilla. Hannah will probably do the anarch or the loner ending, both with good decisions and high humanity (ok, every character of mine helps Pisha, simply for the Odious Chalice, which is so useful, so not only good decisions).
I really can't stop playing VTMB at the moment, I just love that game so much, despite it's many faults. This time, I had a bug during the Sheriffs fight and had to cheat a bit in order to finish the fight. But still, even with all it's bugs, its one of the best rpgs imo.

Party(ed) Hard. Pretty normal for parties I attend. Arrive, be socially awkward, get judged for my dancing, murder everyone, leave. Well minus the dancing, I don't dance. Haha. Had seen the first 4 levels on youtube and not sure if he stopped playing or I lost interest but hadn't seen any more of the game. Game looked too hard so never was too interested in trying on my own, but it was cheap on GOG today so decided to give it a try.
And it was pretty good. Finished the main story. Game was fairly tricky, mostly because I have no patience, but not that frustrating and a fairly decent brain teaser. Story was fun, not the hardest to guess but still nice. Not sure if I'll bother with the achivo's or extra levels though. Mostly because I'm rubbish at the game and there doesn't seem to be extra stories with the other levels. But maybe if I feel in the mood to jam to the music, which I did quite like.
Pathfinder is on ice until June 6th, since my moral dilemma on Halimar's morals have intensified. And figure I might wait a bit before trying someone else. And may have ended up restarting another character concept like 5 times without ever being pleased...
So tried out Mafia. Another game I've seen a youtuber (CallMeKevin) have a go at. He actually doesn't really do series, so little chance of seeing the full game from him. Hilarious though. Didn't play to much, so still just doing the parts he played. So spent the session being a taxi driver. Did like 5 tasks and got arrested at least once in every single one of them. So far just speeding. And one of the passenger objected to me running over a pedestrian. Which is so different from the last taxi game I played where fast was encouraged and fatalities were just parts of getting there on the correct time. So that was fun. Stopped the game when the story asked the character to get out of the car, since I had no idea how and honestly had come to believe that he was glued to the car with the force that only cutscene magic could break. But supposedly it's the right mouse button, twice. So notes for later.
But otherwise, had a great time. Almost criminally so. Heh.

So yesterday Kass knocked over A Poets legacy and The Image o Faith, I find the first a bit painful except for the woman who fixes the Lyre, she's a cracker. The second one I quite enjoy, I just wish at the end you could exact some rather violent justice on the perpetrators rather than just the poor Bear. Pic's A very enjoyable exchange The Celestial Horse looks great at night, its main sort of flows like smoke as does its tail: Scenery Origins did some great quests with/for kids. I wish Odyssey had more, I enjoyed helping the hunter and his daughter All hail Kassandra!!!

Over the last couple of days I have been playing Odyssey myself and unfortunately I haven't been getting into as much as I would have hoped. Going to give it a bit more time since I am only level 6 at the moment and still on the starter island. It did feel good to finally dispatch that Mercenary after he chased me on a small island for an annoying part of time.

I have oficially tried to refund my first game on Steam. Turns out it needs to be done within 14 days so it was denied. No big deal, it was only 1,19 but even that seemed like a waste of money. CALIGO Do not buy this game! I gave up after 25min of the worst voice acting I've come across in the past 20 years. Felt like I'm playing something two students put together for class. Walk straight ahead in snail speed and wait for boring wanna-be philosophical drivel to play. And that's not even taking into account that controller support was broken. Again. Camera moving by itself, character walking on his own (sometimes backwards!). First Cradle, now this game. Beginning to wonder if my controller is broken... but in other games it's fine. Odd. There was no button mapping for the menu at all lol. So you can't leave the game unless you hit the exit key! I should have read the negative reviews more carefully. Overall Steam reviews were mostly positive. My ass! Then I tried to finally play TWD New Frontier only to realize that I re-installed season 2 by accident instead. I was royally annoyed with the evening by this point, decided, fuck it all, and fired up FO4 the first time since December. I'm still not in the right mindset to continue my raider race track (victim of my own expectations, crumbling under the pressure to build something amazing, lol). Sooo I teleported to the site I marked for a Children Of Atom settlement, up by the Decayed Reactor Site in the Glowing Sea. Almost got killed by the mythic deathclaw that lives there. Jeez, it's been a while...
I figured I needed to ease myself back into the building mindset with something less ambitious. Been wanting to do a Children Of Atom settlement for ages. So that sounded like a good idea. After much aimless walking around the area trying to figure out how to get started I decided to begin at the big puddle and sort of copy the vanilla Crater of Atom style with the wooden walkways and metal shacks, only hopefully bigger and better. Took 2 hours just to place the walkway and three small shacks. Couldn't decide on a good look, swapped parts around a hundred times, ugh.
The idea is to have the village around the radioactive pond and convert the two broken reactor domes into a temple. There's a nice slope leading up there. Going to put lots of yellow bottles and light bulbs everywhere, maybe make an archway with the decontanimation arcs and roleplay them spraying irradiated water... I THINK settlers can't die, so radiation shouldn't be a problem there. If it is, I will have to use the fog condensers to purge the settlement of radiation. That would look bad but better than dead settlers. Useful device for building mode in any case so that *I* don't have to use a bazillion RadAway while I'm there! *g*

I'd advise watching several minutes or an hour of true gameplay in order to judge whether a game is worth buying. ***** I'm still on the books though I flipper about on Twitch to see if there's anything new. Caught a trailer of a EVE online expansion (I think) and I . As usual, the well worn tread of stupidity in space come into play. Three spaceships exploring, they see something flashy, hear something flashy, one pilot voiced his qualms in moving towards that strange area, the others called him a wuss. Really. Really? They did not learn the lesson that space is an unforgiving place. It does not cooperate. It is a persistent hostile expanding zone. So of course they'll head straight in, happy heroes, mighty explorers. They never heard of probes or exploration devices, I believe. "Ohhhh, that is a lot of ships," one pilot cooed. And the three dumbos only start moving away after the ships started on them. I quit watching after that.

Reviews are subjective and a small window into a game. I'd advise watching several minutes or an hour of true gameplay in order to judge whether a game is worth buying. I figured I couldn't really go wrong with a walking simulator at that price tag. When it comes to indie games I just look at the screenshost and the trailer on Steam. Maybe browse a couple of comments. That's usually sufficient. I've played a couple of mediocre ones but most of them were nice enough. Even Cradle had some kind of appeal and I didn't really regret spending about 4 bucks on it. But Caligo is just straight up bad imo. First game I quit in under 30min. I don't buy a lot of games. Not the kind of compulsive shovelware on sale Steam buyer at all. Had Caligo on my wishlist for ages in the 'could be good but not sure' category. Then finally pullged the trigger when it was basically free. I usually pick carefully. Rarely truly disappointed. Well, 1,19 is not really a loss. Just a waste of time.

Played a bit of Mafia today. Did get out of the car this time around and did a spectacular performance with a molotov and a car. That is I did twice manage to knock the protag on his ass while tossing the cocktails at the car. Did get a chuckle out of it. Then a bit more driving, this time not getting pulled over by the cops once! Did spent quite some time at the wrong side of the road and may have knocked a fence down, but at least I was within the speed limit. Was disappointing that the protag did not manage to immolate himself by his smoking at the gas station. Because flipping cig ashes near a barrel with a flame symbol on it should warrant some sort of burning discipline... Then there was an action scene. And oof that was quite something. The man cannot shoot a dog at point blank range with a pistol. Well he can do grazing shots but I figure three bullets should be enough to put a dog out of commission. Can't control him much either, since I think he decides to do barrel rolls once in a while. Which is cool, but not so much when there are three guys at point blank range unloading their pistols at you. Did get to a cutscene, then was taken down. By a fat guy in a stained wife beater. Which I SHOT at point blank range a few moments ago. And then he's capable of taking FIVE SHOTS to his GUTS without even being fazed. And then I have to do the whole mess again. So it was a prime moment to flip the table and get the heck out of there. Getting gud will have to wait for tomorrow. When I'm less drunk. Or maybe more. Actually more sounds better. But the driving was kinda nice so the session has that going for it.
Huzzah venting helped. Rebound jump from Numpad 0 to Spacebar and Crouching from gods know what to CTRL. Then moved a bit more slowly. First attempt was a bust, since he got mowed down in the staircase or something. Second try got to the cutscene, but we both ran out of bullets at round 2 and protag is no hand-to-hand specialist and eventually got pummeled to death. Third try was the charm, since I learned how to loot the bodies and their weapons, so once round two hit, I had a nice shower of Tommy Gun bullets for Mr Stanky shirt. Hehehe. Revenge is...okay I guess. Then there was an exciting car chase. Wow much action. Very excite. That took like 5 or more tries, three were just complete busts with protag flipping the car, loosing sight of the other car and other hijinks. Then some other fails. But eventually got lucky and the guy got blocked off by two other cars so protag could just get out of the car and shower the man in the wet warmth of Tommy Gun rain aftermath. Then a nice long story cutscene and now I'm supposed to drive a car fast without the cops stopping me or the car crashing. And hahaha that probably aint happening anytime soon. But the vented run was pretty amusing, so that was good.
