Singleplayer games aren't difficult anymore. 20 years ago completing a game was a feat, an accomplishment, a true "achievement". Now they gotta dumb it down and make it easy enough that even the dumbest rockhead can finish it and feel good about himself. Have you played Dark Souls? Dark Souls is not hard. There is a difference between a punishing game, which is what Dark Souls is, and a hard game.

No. You have an access to the internet now. THAT made things much easier. Try finishing any game without anh walkthroughs builds or tutorials. Enjoy. Didn't need any walkthrough builds for ME:A to make a monster character, and I am sure most passionate people about this game on this forum didn't either. I don't know wtf you're talking about, this game isn't something like Path Of Exile with its million pages of theory crafting and a skill tree that gives you seizures. SalMasRac , I don't agree entirely with your language though. I don't believe that's a fault for anyone that they want to "complete" a video game. I am of the opinion that everyone should be able to enjoy it and BW games especially attract many people that have more interest in playing through the story vs experiencing the challenging combat of a life time. Those people aren't "dumb", they just have different priorities. That's why there should be a narrative difficulty. However, one would wonder why they didn't make Insanity more difficult. I remember that ME1's Insanity was really brutal compared to this (or even ME3's Insanity). P.S. The hardest thing about ME:A's hard modes is that your life support goes down soooo fast. In one of the vaults, I had to literally reset the puzzle a hundred times until I got all the goodies (which wasn't hard, just terribly annoying). I still love Mass Effect 1 and its no joke on Insanity, if your not a Adept or had Wrex, Kaiden, or Liara in your squad 24/7 on Insanity you was gunna have a bad time. ME1 was only hard though because nearly every enemy had Master Immunity on higher difficulties which made high levels of CC and Warp mandatory skills, which made Adept's the superior choice for Insanity. Otherwise enemies got put down fairly easily even on Insanity. ME2 everything was just a f***ing damage sponge that insta killed you so Soldier was the clear winner as you had every ammo type minus Warp Rounds and Adrenalin Rush which in ME2 was OP AF. Infiltrators were a close second but they lack survivability, something the Soldier had tons of. ME3 Insanity was a joke and if you wanted to laugh your way through insanity I found Sentinel wih Tech Armor, Reave, and Warp as your only abilities needed(Pretty much permanent 80% Damage Mitigation + Insane Debuffs and crazy high combo damage), weapons don't really matter as you can just spam abilities through most engagements with enemies. Aside from that little fact, everything was about as viable on Insanity albeit somewhat more challenging. Andromeda on the other hand is hard because on Insanity/Gold everything is a f***ing tank that can eat hundreds of bullets and two handfuls of abilities to be put down, getting put down yourself on the other hand however must be equally as frustrating to the enemy.

Terminator keeps telling me it's really good, maybe I'll pick it up sometime on a Steam sale. You can get them so cheap on steam, I ended up getting 1 for 5 bucks and 2 for 12. I played Bloodborne on PS4 also, and that was phenomenal.

Yeah, Dark souls is a masochists game. If you run around like a chicken with it's head cut off, sure. If you actually use all the tools at your disposal, it's no harder than any other ARPG.

Going back to ME3 after ME3MP was like that, too. MP makes you wickedly OP for single player.

No but I did beat Ninja Gaiden II on Xbox 360, which is braggable. One of my most favorite games ever. We played this so much, even the crappy PS3 Sigma2 version which was hard in many other cheap ways due to memory limitations (not as many enemies but each one was tougher and getting grabbed was insta-death and such bullshit). When I played NG2 for the first time on the easiest mode I was like "how the fuck am I supposed to beat this". Then the same feeling on the next difficulty and the next and the last one. And to this day I have never felt so much hate and love for a game at the same time than I did while fighting through Master Ninja mode. Climbing up in difficulties seemed impossible at first but then you get better in all regards... and you really need to. Know enemy trigger points, time your on-landing-charges perfectly, make clever use of the various techniques that grant you some iframes and get the timing right, know the most useful combos and possibilities of each weapon, know which item is in which box so you can plan ahead better and track back to old save statues to keep the health regen of the new one for after the upcoming battle and such. It still amazes me to see gameplay videos of some asian dudes doing no damage runs or not using UTs and Ninpo. You think Rocket Troopers in ME3MP spam too much... they are like sweet little kittens compared to the incendiary shuriken ninjas and the overall (offscreen) projectile spam in NG2... I also played NG1 (Black) and NG1 (Sigma) and they were at times even much harder but in a different way that felt more frustrating and not as much fun at the same time. Still awesome game(s). NG2 was often very frustrating as well but also more fun at the same time. What I liked about the first game was that you sometimes even encountered completely new enemy types on higher difficulties that were not even part of the game on the lower ones. It wasn't just "we buff every enemy 50 or 100% to make the game harder" but actually introducing new enemies or variations with different attacks. Too bad they totally fucked up NG3 and even the improved version Razor's Edge was still crap. I wish we could get NG1 and NG2 in a remastered version on PC... I'd start throwing money at my monitor right away if that would help make it happen. Here's a nice compilation of some fights in NG2. It looks easy at times... but it's really not.

Dark Souls is at least 'doable'.
Anyone tried Shadow of the Beast 2 back in the day? Even WITH asking for ten pints it's still pretty much impossible...
Oh yeah didn't grow up with 'Nintendo'

Tomonobu Itagaki left Tecmo after Dead or Alive 4. They made NG3 without him and it shows I know, they had some disagreements even before about bringing NG1 to PS3 as NG Sigma. And after he left they made NG Sigma 2 and totally butchered NG2 instead of just bringing the 360 version to PS3. Everything went totally downhill from that point on, resulting in that awful game that is NG3 and this other NG game with zombies that totally flopped. And unfortunately Itagaki's game also turned out to be total crap. I liked the part where you stabbed the headless guy in the chest It's not my gameplay. Never bothered recording console games with a capture card. I actually hardly bother doing it with PC games which is even easier. I just like the fights so I added the video. But I liked to do some silly stuff as well... like overkilling enemies from time to time and messing with the last guy standing

Devs are just caring about your money nowadays. Not just in the obvious way, but also to safe you money as well. Think about it: How many gamepads or tvs have been saved from being destroyed by players throwing them into one another or on the floor/through the window/at the wall because of being frustrated by the game screwing you over and over?

Yeah SP on insanity is easy now after playing a lot of mp. At first I was using a soldier/weapn damage build with a sniper rifle. Got bored and used shotties and pistols, still felt easy. Now I use a melee+biotic (annihilation lance charge) build just to have a very active playstyle so I won't get bored. I use the same build for remnant architects and just carry long range weapons if I feel the need to. With fiends and other boss type enemies I intentionally fight them up close. It's fun trying to weave in and out with charge/lance/shotty/melee/detonations while trying to avoid getting sync killed lol
