I have to say that Tomb Raider with Lara Croft from 1996 until now looks better and better with every new game but that's obvious of course.

I'm kinda out of the loop - there is so many tomb raider games. I never was a fan of the platformy early stuff and voyeuresque tendency of seeing a big-boobed, scantily clad character choke to death or get pummeled to death brutally. But I played the one before the last incarnation. I'm really not a fan of QTEs but I strangely got along and finished a playthrough. I liked the Hunter style usage of bow and stealth most.

The only thing I'm not liking very much is that it seems that the tombs will be dangerous. I just wanted a peace :srs:ful time figuring out some nice complex puzzles.

She's enough of an accomplished killer to take out special forces teams singlehandedly and with seemingly little effort, yet she somehow also has serious misgivings about killing to the point where she's disgusted with herself? *rolls eyes*

To be honest, I'm starting to get tired of seeing Lara constantly second guessing herself. Maybe it's time for her to accept for good that being a treasure hunter will require for her to kill people, and stop feeling bad about it.

I'm 'loving' some of the quotes on the steam discussions:
Topic: Why are Lara's boobs so small compared to the classic games ???
This brightened me up a bit though:
Honestly. What is it with people.

I have been enjoying the reboot...this is one of those rare occasions where i feel the reboot is actually better than the original...i an also say that for RE-Make...... I did like Rise of the Tomb Raider, but i wasn't really a fan of it's open world. the tasks was a bit redundant and it watered down the overall main storyline which was bit on the weak side.
For me it seems like the story gets away from itself when they incorporate these game designs. I'm sure it works for GTA and other platforms, but for me it kinda fell a bit flat in the 2nd game, of course those side missions are optional, but i do believe that you gain some substantial perks from quite a few of them making them hard to pass up....i liked the first game much more that focused on a more linear path that was more focused on the story itself.....
I guess in theory and on paper that a game like Tomb Raider should be open world, but eh, i find the experience for me is just more satisfying and the story itself is more interesting when it is more linear in nature. I'm still going to pick this up tho...the quality and production values are incredibly solid and the visuals/ art deisgn and scope in parts of both games thus far has been stunning.

Of course the game mechanics for Tomb Raider and God of War are very similar.
Fairly linear zones with some light task-content in hub areas.

A lot better than the initial trailer; hope the potential of splendid tomb raiding comes about. There's some reminiscence on the Dagger of Xan though obviously, it's a different dagger. Mayan sacrificial dagger? Lara looks more like herself. Needless to say, this is one title that will be bought without question. ***** Out of curiosity, how did everyone get into TR? I was introduced to it by my student. Well, not exactly introduced. We were having lessons one morning back then in '97 and I saw a game disc in the jacket sitting on the table. I picked it up and it was TR II. I asked her if she played PC games. She said no. Somebody in the family bought it and then apparently, not touched it. I borrowed it and that started me off.

Mine started out with the reboot game, and I quickly fell in love with the character and the story and the game mechanics (especially the bow combat). I never had any interest in the more campy looking (to me) version that proceeded this one so I am hoping the continue with this iteration in the future, and don't cut it off here and go back to the old Lara.

I saw it was made by the studio that made the recent Deus Ex games and it was on sale so I figured I would try it. Sure enough I really enjoyed it and its sequel. Which is why I'm sad that I can't enjoy this one due to what they are doing with Lara's character.
