Anyway, carrying on from the BSN Prime thread by sH0tgUn jUliA.
What things doesn't make sense in the Mass Effect trilogy? I've already made two rants on another thread today about the completly idiotic writing of everyone's favourite Mary Sue organisation, Cerberus.
Therefore someone else can start us off for this one...

Oh my.....where do I start? So many things are nonsensical.
OK, let's start with Shepard's confrontative behavior towards the Council in ME3. We're forced to speak as if it was only natural for them to let everything go and come to defend Earth. That makes no sense.
And then the nonsensically stupid behaviour of some people in power in ME3, unless they're military. Starting with the people we meet in the prologue and not ending with the insanity of the quarian leaders to start a war against the geth in the middle of a Reaper invasion.
Oh, and Shepard themselves. Between "The Citadel? The fight's here" and the false drama after Thessia, where they act as if Thessia's fall could've been prevented. Shepard is perhaps the greatest source of stupidity in ME3.

- Shepard walking towards the tube while shooting it. Why not shoot it from a distance? - Vendetta saying the catalyst is the Citadel and then learning the catalyst is the one in control of the reapers. Why did the Protheans call the Citadel catalyst? Everyone that the player encounters including Javik, the two vi's on Ilos, Sovereign call the Citadel, Citadel. Did the group that was building the crucible use the secret code word catalyst to call the Citadel? Or was it just coincidence? - the beam run. Did the destroyer have to be destroyed? Why not send a squad to sneak past it? Or does that sound to easy? Or maybe it was done to have only Anderson and Shepard on the Citadel for the touchy-feely scene? - Why Shepard wouldn't ask Leviathan about the catalyst? - Thane not shooting Leng right away. Wait a minute. That whole scene didn't make sense and was crap. - Why did Anderson mention Shepard's vision's to the council in ME1? Did he really expect them to believe that? - Having Ashley/Kaidan, Liara and Tali in the c**kpit just before the Mako is dropped off on Ilos. What purpose was there having them there? - The what-the-crap evac scene? If the Normandy can be in front of the beam with no problem, why not do that from the beginning? Or at least have Steve fly the shuttle to the beam to drop off Shepard and squad? That's right. Anderson was needed to have that touchy-feely scene - How did Steve get back on the Normandy? - Every ME2 squadmate having a QEC at their location? It was funny having the qec yellow pages guy have no problem paging the characters. I guess Jack is the only human in the galaxy named Jack - The goodbyes at the fob? Why not have them on the Normandy as it flies to Earth? It was funny hearing Shepard tell Anderson that every minute wasted is time for the reapers to gather strength. Yeah right. The goodbyes wasted how many minutes?
that's enough for now. I will post more later

I haven't done that mission since before ME3 was released Shepard has been in the military for over 10 years. He/she would have a good idea the effective range of the weapon. It must've been Shepard's stunt double that did that just like the other crap that my Shepard would never of done in the game. I would like to hear what Bioware has to say if I give them a handgun of their choice and tell them to shoot at explosives while walking towards it. I'm sure they would look at me like I'm crazy. I'm sure their answer as to why Shepard did that would have them looking left and right hoping someone else would give them an answer to tell me or they would shrug their shoulders knowing they don't have an answer. If they wanted to have Shepard killed, that could've happened even when shooting at the tube from a distance. A piece of debris hits Shepard killing him/her. Yeah I know. That makes sense.

Personally, just to tie it in with that other thread here, about Shep having doubts about being human or not. I like to interpret Shep walking into the fire for this reason. He's just saying screw it, if he's not even human. I feel like ME3 is a story that slowly eats away at your resolve and morale. He has a little bit of doubt, but not enough to totally take the other two choices. But that's also what makes the breath scene cool, if you get it. It's the truest meaning of the word "crucible". edit: I should add though that if they're so hellbent on Shepard dying and scattering about gestures and symbols of death everywhere, then they should have called it the crucifix. Not the crucible. But this is my take on it at least.

- Why is there medigel on the geth dreadnought? - How does medigel "heal" edi and Legion? - Why is Shepard the only one that had his/her armor blown off his/her body, after being shot by Harbinger, but the other bodies in the same area still have their armor on? - Why didn't Tali or Raan, if Tali isn't in ME3, make any effort to stop the geth from uploading the code, if Shepard sides with the geth? If Shepard sides with the quarians, the geth and geth vi attack Shepard. I guess that means that Raan and Tali never cared about their species. - Why wasn't Shepard able to ask questions in the trilogy especially in ME2? - Why didn't Hackett give Shepard a heads up that he/she may encounter Cerberus on Mars? He did say, after Mars, that he thought Cerberus would try something. - If Liara found the plans to the device, why didn't she forward them to Hackett while still keeping a copy for herself to continue to look for more clues? - What was the purpose of having Liara show up after the first two dreams? After the first one she tells Shepard the same thing the player alreadys knew. Was she trying out to be an NFL referee for instant replay? After the second dream she tells Shepard about the salarian councilor wanting to talk. Was it quicker to come up to the cabin to tell Shepard that instead of using the intercom? Why couldn't edi or Traynor tell Shepard? - Why did Udina have to be killed? Why not shoot him in the arm or shoulder? I would be curious to herar the explaination of why he did what he did. - If Garrus isn't recruited in ME1 and Liara isn't rescued until after Virmire, how do both know Kirrahe, if alive, when seen on Sur'Kesh? - Why does Liara mention Garrus' name on Menae if he was never recruited in ME1 and never went to Illium? That means they never met. - Why is there two different explanations of Liara giving back Shepard's dogtags in the broker dlc?

Mac Walters was apparently unable to write intelligent characters, so he had to make Shepard stupid instead. It's not giving me high hopes for MEA.

Councilor Sparatus: When presented with witness statements that Saren killed Nihilus, he basically accuses the witness to be hallucinating. When presented some random voice recording originating not even anywhere close to the incident, it becomes 'irrefutable evidence.' Anderson in ME3: "Shepard, I need you and these Thanix missiles. So I send you both to where the resistance is heaviest!"

Is it normal for diplomats to act like Udina has for the first two games? I'd have thought diplomats were supposed to be less...grumpy.
How did Liara, an archaeologist who's admitted to poor social skills, gain enough competence as an information broker in less than two years?
For that matter, why did she never tell Kaidan or Ashley about Shepard being alive? Especially if they were romanced?
Why is Jack punching Shepard after repeatedly telling her in the past that they never trusted Cerberus?
Why didn't the Dalatrass preempt everyone on the genophage cure by pretending to send specialists to cure it (but really sabotage it) then feign ignorance and say the cure must have just failed?
Why didn't the Geth leave Rannoch if they were cleaning it up in preparation for the Quarians?
Why did the Geth let the Heretics go kill other races when they themselves fought a war to prevent that to themselves?
Why is Kai Leng taunting a Vanguard Shep about being slow?
Why couldn't Shepard just leave the Rachni queen in the tank? Why did it have to be kill or release?
What happens to the Rachni in the hot labs if you leave without blowing them up?

I do recall finishing everything except the hot labs and when I finished killing the Rachni Queen as a renegade. I remember deliberately getting on the tram to see if there'd be consequences for ignoring the hot labs and the warning label came up checking to see if you really wanted to leave without blowing up the labs. I left and...nothing references it afterwards.

Why is Jack punching Shepard after repeatedly telling her in the past that they never trusted Cerberus? Because you're supposed to romance her. Then it all makes sense No seriously, there's things throughout the series that probably would make more sense if this was true. Like Liara's behavior especially. They didn't spend much time on alternate scenes or animations.
