...Absolutely heretical. I could ship that. Though, when I was younger, I was pretty fond of Ares / Xena. My next one: Adama and Roslin from Battlestar Gallactica. Completely different from one another, absolutely perfect for each other.

I actually haven't watched much lately, so I don't have any ships that come to mind immediately from tv and stuff. But I definitely ship E-Ro with Gaston . Absolutely haram.

Haven't played Witcher yet so I can't say... (damn, I barely recognize any of the ships in this thread) This ship is based solely on the book, but I will include a pic from one of the movie versions: This is Percy and Marguerite Blakeney from the novel The Scarlet Pimpernel. I love them as a couple because they had sort of a reverse love-story (instead of falling in love, facing and overcoming issues and getting married they got married, faced and overcame issues, then fell in love). Their story tells us the dangers of blindly overlooking flaws in a person and putting them on a pedestal and that to really love a person you have to see and accept them, flaws and all. The movie version from 1934 is superb (if not 100% like the book), I recommend it if you happen to like old movies!

I know this is not really a fandom, but I ship actress Jessica Henwick and myself. Whoa, whoa can we do that? I think if I was allowed to ship myself with various celebrities or fictional characters this thread would get way weird Otherwise here's a few from the "it needed to fucking happen, you pricks!!" category: And of course I would be remiss if I didn't include: Probably not; however, I wanted to break the possible rule. Also... nearly everyone you shipped, is nearly everyone I shipped.

There's one I've recently had in mind:
Thorin Oakenshield and Bilbo Baggins because by the end of it, I wound up considering a romantic interpretation of their relationship to be just as valid as a platonic interpretation of their relationship. It might have been unintentional on the part of the filmmakers but damn, it's shippable due to some scenes and I've always been fond of tragic and unspoken love. I wasn't even planning on shipping it, it just happened over the course of the films.
This only applies to the films, though, since I've heard a number of the scenes are not quite or at all the same in the book.

& The Cullen/Inquisitor romance was cute, but if I could choose any character to romance Cullen with it would be Inarra Serra. He's so duty driven, oblivious to his attractiveness and a sweetie, she's graceful, experienced and understanding. It would be a romance I'd love to see happen.

And yes, Ivanhoe and Rebecca is such a great pair, I never really understood his attraction to Rowena (she is very pretty, but also... bland). In case you didn't know, Anthony Andrews played Sir Percy in a version of the Scarlet Pimpernel from 1982 (same year as Ivanhoe!) and he was amazing in it!

I think people focus too much on shipping.
I mean, don't get me wrong. I like shipping too. I like sinking ships.
I sink so many ships they call me the U-boat captain.

Oh, you can never focus too much on shipping! The emotion, the romance the awkward positions! ....unless you meant shipping...with actual sea vessels...and you weren't trying to be punny... ....then yeah...you're right... cause boats and ships are nowhere near as attention worthy as helecopters and jets.

I'm speaking in double-entendre, but yes I think too many people focus on romance in fiction. Not emotion, but logic. Awkwardness? Why relive my high school and early college years? Since more or less setting romantic desires aside and ignoring them, I find the world to be a much clearer place. Relationships aren't cute because they're awkward. They work because the partners fit, and work as a team, and have strong communications, and are able to function within and without their other half. We need more 'adult' relationships in fiction.
Ideally though, we should focus more on solving problems and story, not on some stupid biological urge to procreate.
As for shipping, I still say the most important implement of war in the Second World War was submarine warfare.

Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, totally ship it. Odo and Kira
