Yeah the sound thing is pretty persistent, never played without it happening yet; usually just the announcer goes silent so it's kind of nice, actually.
I would try borderless but it cuts my framerate in literal half as if I was streaming or tabbed out.

What I am doing for now, well I had a week without crashing so far. After starting the game I tab out and back in.

I would try borderless but it cuts my framerate in literal half as if I was streaming or tabbed out. Too bad. I tried borderless and it actually felt smoother for me. So far no crashes. Dared to try a mission with level 3 boosters (disruptor and power recharge), still no crash (fingers crossed). Thanks for the heads up, klgchaos!

I also didn't have any crashes to Desktop after 1.05 (except for one but the host was super laggy and I think it was because of this). Although I don't know if the new nvidia driver 381.65 that came around the same time as the patch also had any impact. I also switched virtual memory to letting windows handle it, before I had it set to 2GB because I have an SSD (many SSD tweak-tools will also limit the virtual memory) and thought 16GB of RAM would be enough anyhow but that didn't fix the CTD.
I still get the occasional DirectX Memory crash in single player, but it's been getting less and less after I close all my background programs (especially Chrome which eats memory like nothing else) and switched from Ultra to a mix of Ultra/High (Shadows and Textures on high instead of Ultra) on a GTX 780 in 1080p. Game still uses up to 8GB of RAM though, especially on Eos, before it could peak to 10GB. I guess the game still has a memory leak somewhere. Strangely enough, GPU memory usage never goes beyond 2GB, most the time it uses 1-1.5GB, even though my GPU has 3GB.

There's a memory leak with Origin enabled that I don't think they've fixed or at least they haven't said they've fixed in the Origin patch notes. They have released a new version of origin today, but it doesn't mention anything other than getting certain games to launch.

As others have said, I think it has something to do with Origin overlay and full screen, so going windowed or disabling the overlay may be what remedies the problem for most people.

Thanks for the info, never thought it'd be Origin since I didn't have that error in other Origin games, but it's been a while since I played an Origin game (except for the BF 1 beta).

Had crashes with the overlay enabled and disabled. Even the DirectX memory crashes in Single Player? Or do you mean the Crash to Desktop in Multiplayer (which I believe is a different crash to the DirectX crash)

When I was running the game with the 780 I had every setting put to low because it seemed whenever there was a really flashy effect on screen it would be the moment the game shit itself. I know from experience a 780 can just not handle it period (which is why I upgraded). I'm running on one SSD and about 6 SHDDs, with the game installed on one of those. Maybe I don't have issues with overlay/ game crashes because it's not on the main hard drive? Not sure.

Maybe I don't have issues with overlay/ game crashes because it's not on the main hard drive? Not sure. I made a different experience with my GTX 780 (overclocked to 1075MHz). I can run the game with almost everything cranked up to ultra (except for Shadows and Textures on high) and get around 40 fps on average in Single Player with rare drops into high 30s in 1080p. Totally fine for me, I don't need 100+ fps in a cover based PvE shooter, plus I still have higher fps than on console. Multiplayer is a non-issue fps-wise. I'm running 16GB RAM, 4770k CPU and the game is installed on a separate Sandisk Ultra II 960GB SSD (OS is on a Samsung 830). Crashes to Desktop in MP have basically stopped after 1.05 and nvidia 381.65 drivers, Direct X memory errors in Single Player are rare after I started closing background applications (like the memory hog Chrome) and refrain from Alt-tabbing out of the game in Fullscreen mode.

^ Frames & watching a show at the same time matter to me with much REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE on the 780
Thusly why I turned everything to low, and even then it was meh.
First world problems I suppose,

That advice is definitely worth following. If your virtual memory is insufficient you're in a world of hurt regardless of how much free physical RAM you have.
Sadly, my MP CTDs don't seem to be attributable to insufficient memory issues. Gonna try disabling Origin overlay, thanks for that tip.
