I'm not sure if Bloodborne is the best entry into the Soulsborne universe, but it is a good game. Be prepared to die, a lot. The games are hard, but (mostly) fair. And death is a punishment for you failing to learn the lessons the game is teaching you. When you do learn, you become much better, and your reward is the sound of you cleaving the skulls of your enemies asunder.

I am with you. The Darksoul and Bloodborne series are those made for masochists. I don't like dying in video games and doing the same thing over and over again to get it right.

I will maintain, as I have for a long time, that the difficulty of the Souls games is somewhat overblown (not entirely, but somewhat).  Mostly they require patience and attention, which is rare enough in games now people perceive them as being more difficult than they are because they try to rush them.  But I'm also one of the souls nerds who did shit like make theme builds that were intentionally gimped in some fashion, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. 

I think RE7 is another great example of this kind of design.  There are some definite difficulty spikes, but mostly if you're paying attention to all the cues around you, it's not nearly as hard as it looks. 

I don't have patience anymore for games like that. I am the type of player that would rather rush in and start killing everything on site then think carefully and pay attention to every little detail. Which is quite funny since I am the opposite in real life.
