My god this Raiders/Chargers game. What a slaughter. Staley is going to get canned after this debacle.

They took way too long to fire Staley. The Chargers almost feel cursed. They also fired Tom Telesco, their long-time GM. On the one hand, he's built some very talented rosters. On the other, those rosters are always poorly coached and plagued with injuries. I'm assuming he hired these successive coaching staffs who have failed. I'm not liking anything Nick Sirianni has been saying, of late. I'm hoping that he's just protecting his guys, and that he doesn't truly believe that the Eagles' high school football schemes on each side of the ball are actually sufficient. Even with the best talent, you aren't going to win in this league when you make no effort to put your players into positions to succeed. We'll see if they've found their will to play on Monday night when they play frosted's Seahawks. I really don't know what to expect. A season of mostly unconvincing wins, followed by two epic butt-whoopings, leaves me feeling a bit hollow. I need to see a truly good-looking win to summon even a bit of enthusiasm or optimism. Slay (Don't Call Him Darius 🙄) just had knee surgery. I'd usually never put too much thought into that, other than hoping a guy recovers well. This feels iffy, though. I have no doubt that he needed surgery, but the timing feels abrupt. He's been getting unfair criticism from fans that don't always understand what they're seeing. If you don't have a professional eye, you can blame the wrong guy for mistakes. Slay has actually been playing pretty well, but has been getting dogged with the rest of the secondary and LBs. In a very un-captainly video on his YouTube channel this week, he called out a fan that had posted up outside of the practice facility with trashcans labelled "Bradberry" and "Slay". (Gotta love the ridiculous passion. 😆) Slay pointed out that he actually played well, surrendering zero catches and having several passes defended. He then acknowledged that yes, the team played terribly. He's right, but a leader doesn't exculpate himself and then essentially say, "Everyone else sucked." I feel like he might be throwing in the towel on the team. He may not want any more bad film out there, particularly since he's playing on a bad knee, in case he's looking for a new team next year. I could be wrong. He might be trying to get this cleaned up now in hopes of being ready in the playoffs. I kind of feel like both are true. He will be ready if he thinks they stand a chance, and he will avoid putting bad film out there as an injured, 31yo CB.

PANTHERS WIN
Hopefully this means good things for the rest of the season, off-season then carries over into the next season. One step at a time.

It's like no one wants to win the NFC South. I kind of hope Tampa wins it, but don't much care. I just think the Falcons and Saints deserve the playoffs even less than Tampa.
DallAss got hammered by Buffalo. Usually, I'd be laughing more. Since DallASS just hammered the Eagles last week, it's only mildly humorous, though definitely helpful. They are almost definitely a Wild Card team, now, and they aren't nearly as good away from home. I don't think Philly can beat SF this year, but I'm glad DallASS can't either.
Meanwhile, Philly is sort of demoting our DC, Sean Desai. He's still DC, but is losing playcalling duties to Matt Patricia. I don't know what the heck this will do, but the defense can't be any worse. Maybe Patricia can get more out of the guys. I think Desai had lost the locker room, and I'm not sure how or why he still has a job.
Given Slay's feelings about Matt Patricia, maybe we now know why he decided to get that knee surgery. 🤦🏻😆
The Eagles are a mess right now. I'm glad Sirianni is trying to fix it, but they do not have the look or aura of a team that can beat the Whiners. I can imagine a scenario in which they rebound enough to beat anyone else, but not the Whiners. As long as SF doesn't crap the bed, I can't imagine them losing.
Philly is in a weird spot. Our defense lost 5 (really 6) starters in the off-season, and now looks like it needs to lose more. The offense will lose Jason Kelce to retirement. We hope Cam Jurgens can be a great Center, but he probably won't be Kelce. Jurgens is too small to be playing RG and hasn't been great. So, we need a RG. If Lane Johnson were to retire, we'd lose the greatest RT to ever play the game.
It feels like Philly's window was last year when they had that insane roster and blew it. It was surprising that they managed to keep it as intact as they did for this year, but the Niners are in a better spot by finally getting a QB. I'm not sure any GM will be able to compete with their roster for a couple more seasons.
Philly needs new coordinators on both sides of the ball, and they need more youth and talent on defense. While I'll keep a fan's hope that they can somehow win the Super Bowl this year, I can't help but think ahead to how they will fix the flaws in the off-season.

You probably hadn't seen the Eagles play before tonight. 😆 They're the kings of underachievement and self-defeat. If they'd not already proven themselves irrelevant, I'd be mad about the missed PI call on Love's first INT. It never should've been so close, though. Kelce moving the ball near the goalline, causing us to settle for a FG; Hurts bailing out of the pocket when he even thinks there might be pressure -- those types of things have been killing us all season.

That's tricky. He definitely deserves a lot of blame and some sort of accountability for his part in the D mess. Yet ultimately, firing him probably does a lot more harm than good. He has done a nice job for the most part putting together an offense that suits Jordan Love. You don't want to cycle through so many different offenses early in a QB's career. Matt has a lot of strengths as coach but also a lot of weaknesses. He needs to get A LOT better at hiring coordinators, he has been dreadful at it. But a coach with his kind of talent, you give him every opportunity to grow into the role and succeed, IMO.

Week 16 A bit late but here are my picks for the rest of the week. Saturday, 12/23/23 Bengals(8-6) @ Steelers(7-7)... BENGALS Bills(8-6) @ Chargers(5-9)... BILLS Sunday, 12/24/23 Colts(8-6) @ Falcons(6-8)... COLTS Packers(6-8) @ Panthers(2-12)... PACKERS Browns(9-5) @ Texans(8-6)... BROWNS I think this will be a close game. Lions(10-4) @ Vikings(7-7)... LIONS Commanders(4-10) @ Jets(5-9)... JETS The Commanders are just awful this year. The Jets can do better. Seahawks(7-7) @ Titans(5-9)... SEAHAWKS I'm a little uneasy about Geno returning from his groin injury, but we still should be able to do this. Jaguars(8-6) @ Buccaneers(7-7)... BUCCANEERS There's a chance that Trevor Lawrence may not make it out of concussion protocol. I'll take a chance on the Bucs. Cardinals(3-11) @ Bears(5-9)... BEARS Cowboys(10-4) @ Dolphins(10-4)... DOLPHINS Patriots(3-11) @ Broncos(7-7)... BRONCOS Monday, 12/25/23 Raiders(6-8) @ Chiefs(9-5)... CHIEFS Giants(5-9) @ Eagles(10-4)... EAGLES Ravens(11-3) @ 49ers(11-3)... 49ERS No teams on bye. ![](https://images.fineartamerica.com/images-medium-large-5/15-seattle-seahawks-joe-hamilton.jpg)

The Eagles really eagled it up, tonight, letting the lowly Giants hang around until the end. 🙄 The Eagles are 11-4, but they truly suck. It's the fruits of an entire season of bad coaching. If these fools hadn't lost in Seattle, they'd be in position for the #1 Seed. Sigh. So many self-inflicted wounds every week, all season.
I'm currently enjoying watching the Ravens beat the Whiners' butts. Very impressive. I hope this ends the ridiculous Purdy MVP discussion. The kid is pretty good, but it's Shanahan's offense and the talent around him that's creating his stats. The guy averages 9 yards per attempt on passes thrown behind the line of scrimmage. You can do that with great play design and guys like McCaffery and D-Bag Samuel catching the ball.
EDIT: Look at how Darnold came in cold, and under siege without Trent Williams, and balled. It's the offense, not Brock Purdy.

frosted, I only care about winning the Super Bowl, particularly after last year's blown opportunity. These guys are too sloppy to beat San Francisco or the other good teams. I'm afraid they're going to be one-and-done. I hope they clean it up and make me look like a fool. Nothing would please me more!
