I wanted to discuss whether 4 ways of saying the same sentiment was valuable. I think the closest to a valuable No I ever got was when I told Suvi I wasn't religious. In spite of what the Journal says, I don't think this difference made us friends. There was one quest on Aya, where you needed to say "Come to the Nexus" in the right fashion for the person to listen. --- In general, the more different options, the better. But in particular, it could be auto-dialogue, if the idea behind phrasing is the same. If I'm not mistaken, all relatively important choices were binary (e.g. to save Salarian civilians or Krogan scouts) without "personality type" icon near them.

Thanks, though I spend more time STILL on the old forum section discussing MET as I still play it. :-) I had only a one playtrough with Andromeda and have sadly forgot already parts of it -- was waiting only the DLC come out.

I think we all were. Well the ones that are in here were anyway. Not me. I rage quit the Trial, was indifferent for months, then figured I may as well go ahead and spoil the story on Youtube so I could debate people about it. 6 hours into that, I bought the game 3 weeks ago, enjoyed it, and have the Habitat 7 Secret Mission you get from 100% viability left to do. DLC? I don't need no stinking DLC.

I wanted to discuss whether 4 ways of saying the same sentiment was valuable. That I call a logic puzzle. One I failed because I didn't know it was a friggen dialogue based logic puzzle. Only one in the entire game. So, I'mma compare this to DA series, DA2 and DAI, with a splash of Shepard. Hawke had three different ways to say something Diplomatic would usually get Hawke to say something conciliatory or kind. Sarcastic would usually get Hawke to say something sarcastic or charming. Aggressive would usually get Hawke to be rude or threatening. These are three very intuitive options that gave you a wide range to react to something. Without the penalty of the Renegade/Paragon system of the OT. One of these options were most often sacrificed to allow the flirt option (to my consternation when trying to avoid flirting with Anders and Isabella.) BUT! 90%+ of the game, you had these 3 options. DAI had SEVEN: Stoic: Pleased Sad Mad Confused Surprised Anxious With additional options you could earn depending on perks, race, class, and romantic availability. But these 7 unique options, despite being drastically different replies, weren't always available. For the most part, you got 3 options on the right that echoed HAwke's options for better or worse (diplo, sarcastic, rude) What MEA gave me was Logical/Professional on the right, which is nearly the same thing, and casual/emotional...which, I think there are more differences between these two on the left. Maybe I imagined it, but "Emotional" seemed to allow you to let the person you were talking to know you cared about what you were saying to them and about them. then for MOST of the game, they only gave me 2/4 options to choose from at all. Both bottom options, both top options. And 90% of the time, Ryder was being agreeable. Cold agreeable vs dork agreeable, but agreeable nontheless. Which is fewer that the 3 options I ALWAYS got as the Inquisitor. Maybe the Inquisitor also almost always had to be agreeable too, but my choices were, "Of course I'll help." "Cracks a joke, let's get down." and, my favorite. "This is stupid/you are stupid, but I'll do it." At first I was pleased to see a dialogue wheel in MEA that reminded me of DAI. 4 ways to say something! but no. Most of the time, it was just TWO ways to say somethign. And those two were not very different, certainly no Renegade vs Paragon levels of different.

In spite of what the Journal says, I don't think this difference made us friends. Come on Phoray, you are too tough on poor Suvi!!!!!! She doesn't care if you are religious and if you are not she's happy to be challenged and enjoy the debate. I honestly really enjoyed the romance with Suvi, shame it was just another fade to black though Hey in Suvi's romance scene what was it she was showing Ryder, was that Angaran DNA?

She accused my Ryder of just humoring her and implying she's crazy. Suvi glared. This whole conversation was just uncomfortable. I'm an atheist in real life, maybe it was just too real. But compared to conversations in Bioware games I've had about characters' religions, like with Cassandra, Thane, Cullen... I did NOT get the vibe of agree to disagree. I couldn't help wondering if the whol epoint of the conversation was the writers getting onto me for not being religious and a quiet shaming way. It's too bad Suvi had to be the deliverer of such a judgement, because I loved her smile and how she looked at the universe in wonder. But because of this whole conversation, yes, she's ruined for me.

I'm not going to play a religious character just to see her smile at me. I only play religious characters if the game supports it in multiple ways. DAI has this theme of Faith, so there are multiple ways to express it and an in game tracker regarding your belief in being the Herald. So, I'm currently playing a MAker Folowing Trev and it's been VERY different, showing my content I've never got before.

I'm sorry you felt that the game was judging you. You said you felt like the writers were silently judging you. I would suggest looking it as more of just the character judging you. Suvi herself. In KOTOR there were some moments where your companion characters would hardcore judge you. I think that added to the gravity of choice. It wasn't like other games where you could murder everyone and still have people be perfectly fine with you. Their perception of you was based on your actions. Just like in MEA. Of course I'm not saying how you feel about it is wrong. Totally valid. Just trying to add an additional viewpoint, perhaps? The Suvi romance is pretty sweet, if light on content.

I liked Suvi but my characters believe in God. I also liked that in Andromeda there wasn't one character making most of the important discoveries, like was the case in ME3 with Traynor.
In fact I wish Shepard did a lot more detective work in ME2, like a Traynor, discovering more about the Reapers.

As it was, it was like, "Pleasant curious chat about faith-- SUVI LASHES OUT- Ryder apologizes awkwardly--Suvi judges apology for what it is ( an attempt to just get along) then declares, "It's fine, you're right anyway. I got my faith." then turns around back to her desk with a scowl on her face" End scene. Stronger would have been acknowledging that she didn't even know why she was discussing it with my Ryder but she would anyway. The way it went, I feel like she regretted speaking to Ryder about it at all and that she would now treat me with ice professionalism for the rest of the game. I dunno. It was 30 seconds and I remember it as just giving me the awkward feel bads.

That is a good description of our first conversation. I'm talking about when we learned that the Angaran's had been created. She seemed to have a crisis of faith about it that I still don't quite understand. The conversation went poorly, from my perspective.

I would actually have preferred her to react more strongly. That's too bad. I understand that making you feel awkward. I'd say Jaal always made me feel the most awkward. I'm not sure why, but his interactions with Liam and their conversions always left me saying "ummmm, what?" and feeling off.

Has anyone compared DAI side quests directly to MEA side quests? Rather than Anecdotal, actual crunchy numbers kinda stuff. I've been pondering doing do myself.
