I'm just about done with my trilogy run. Back on Earth for the finale in ME3. No idea what I'm gonna do for the next 3 wks. You can always read Mess Perfect by Epantiras if you haven't seen it before. It is awesome! It is a comic on DeviantArt and I laugh a ton every time I read it. epantiras.deviantart.com/art/Mess-Perfect-COVER-180557438

I do not know if it has already been mentioned here, but apparently Bioware's GM has referred to the sex scenes/romance dialog as "softcore space porn" and that there will be full nudity instead of partial nudity.
The softcore space porn comment was apparently a joke and he had to retrack is statement.
Personally I hope we get away from the underwear romances and focus on romances that feel more mature and natural, like the Triss/Yennefer romances in Witcher 3.

Dragon Age: Inquisition already did away with undewear and went full nudity so I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the Mass Effect series. It has also been said that they intend to make the relationships, romance and friendship, more dynamic than simply picking the right flirts.
Honestly, I don't see the need for full-on sex scenes but then I'm not generally interested in the sex scenes at all. It's everything else in the romance I'm interested in.

Well to me nudity isnt what makes it mature, the content behind the romance is. In my opinion, Bioware has yet to create a true "mature" romance arc for any game. They all tend to be either in the realm of: 1) Party member has a HS style crush on the protagonist (think Tali in ME3) 2) Party member and protagonist are just in lust (Think Miranda in ME2 or Iron Bull in DAI) 3) Party member and protagonist have a corny/generic soap opera style romance (think Jack in ME2 or the Disney Princess, Josephine in DAI) Again, not trying to start a Mass Effect v Witcher 3 debate, but I believe the Yennifer romance arc in TW3 is something that is more deep and has a great amt of substantial content. Call me pessimistic but I still think when it is all said and done, the MEA romance arcs will be the typical Bioware style romance.

I have only played the BioWare games and they have keept me happy.
For me having a range of different romances is enough to keep me happy. Sometimes it is more Josephine in DA or Tali i ME and sometimes it is more Kaidan in ME and Cullen in DA. I would like it less if it was decided that it had to either A) be all of them getting their kit of or B)all of them going victorian in space and maybe removing a glove if you are lucky, don't even dream of getting a peak at an ankle. I like not knowing what I am going to get with a romance going in, is the dream LI of my current Ryder more shy or are they Iron Bull reborn.

Oh sorry. I unfortunately have a habit of thinking that when someone is talking about the maturity of the Witcher romances, they are referring to the sex scenes. It's because it's what I frequently hear when it comes to the Witcher romances. I know not all Witcher can think so since I've read posts focusing on the other aspects and personally, I don't consider the presence of sex to be a sign of maturity including about a romance.
I think a large part in the difference between the content amount boils down to that Bioware has more romance options which can leave less content for each romance. I know people have argued in the past that Bioware should shave down the options so that there'll be more content for what few there are like how it is done in Witcher but I honestly prefer multiple romance options. It's a bit difficult for me to properly explain but I'll try so bear with me on the perhaps poor execution of words.
Personally, I prefer that Bioware improve on Bioware's way of doing romances. This is especially because I suspect that were the options limited to about two or three, it would be very unlikely it'd be romances that I'd find interesting. I think they'd stick to romances that are believed to be the most appealing such as human and asari. When there are more romance options, I think it gives way to have romances that are about exploring different relationships like ones that are atypical, tragic or unhealthy like Thane, Solas and Anders.
With Thane, the tragedic in his romance is not an optional aspect that can be averted: he is terminally ill and his death as well as the invietable grief is something he and the player can try to come to terms with but not prevent. It is basically a tragic story of two people who love each other but who have limited time left and whose circumstances constantly keep them apart and from enjoying what time they have left. If Mass Effect had only had three options, this romance would have never happened. It may not have much content but I consider it to be heart breaking and enjoyable. I'd consider that to be a shame.
Solas was not intended to be a romance but he remains of my favorites because of how well the content of his romance is handled. This is especially given how badly it could have wound up with a horrible case of Unfortunate Implications. It even gives an interesting insight into Solas' character that can be seen outside of the romance but which the romance shows from a different angle. At the end, Solas decides to leave, not because he wants to but because he believes he has to. He has the option of moving on from his past and be happy but he feels that he can't. Again, if Bioware had decided to go with only three options, Solas' romance wouldn't have happened and I'd consider that a shame.
I guess what I mean is that more romances may limit the amount of content each can have but fewer romances may limit what that content can be about.

"Nudity" typically means pixel boobs, which, eh, I don't care. ( Especially in a case like with Blackwall where you only see the player character bare and never him -- what in the-- why?) Frankly, the sex scenes aren't my focus anyway. I find them to be awkward and crringy and they make laugh at the screen like a fool, which I'm sure is not the intent. :dumb: I'm with shechinah in that I look forward to more, or other things, than the skin bits in the romances. I've stated before that I prefer DA2 love scenes above all others Bio has done (namely Anders and Isabela) as it had a spicy moment and then faded away, no underwear needed -- though I understand that's not necessarily a popular opinion. However, I think Liara of ME3 was better in terms of being "sexy" and she's never actually exposed -- I guess Shep is still in their underwear, but, that doesn't really bother me. (It's not worse than DAO, at least. ) Bio has a habit of providing different types of romances, which I can appreciate and don't think that should change. I have always managed to find a romance in each game that I enjoy. I don't expect to be disappointed in MEA but there is always a chance. Anders is atypical, sure, but he and my Hawke are happy together. As long as BioWare doesn't try to ruin it again. :srs:

As long as BioWare doesn't try to ruin it again. :srs: It's more that I consider aspects of the romance to be unhealthy like how Anders tries to emotionally blackmail Hawke into helping him with something that he intends to use to commit mass murder without Hawke's knowledge. Bit hard to say that without making it sound like I'm putting you down so uh, I don't mean for it to sound like that. I love the romance, I like Anders and think it would have been a shame if the romance hadn't been included. I just think we view the romance and the character in a different light? Like how Solas's character is viewed in a different light by different people?

Many are quick to paint Anders as some some unrepentant, manipulative monster, and that's unfair. I'm in the minority in that I didn't feel betrayed or used and, yes, it does get tiring to read about how his romance is this tragic-soaked unhealthy affair better avoided because that's not what I saw. It's a complicated topic, I suppose, so it's not a can of worms I want to open, but I am an Anders fan and just wanted to say that I actually am happy with him and his romance. I actually do like Solas and his romance too -- it's like the popular, "acceptable" version of Anders. I don't venture into the DA fandom much; all I know is some people are wallowing in the romance and others call him "elf Hitler" so... I'm not personally worried either way yet. "DA4" is too far away right now and his plans sound like something that Bio won't actually let happen, much like Corypheus, unless they want to forever change the face of the DA reality. Edit: I do wonder what MEA will bring...

Lol, it is with great shame that I report to you all that I will get MEA on PS4 Pro instead of PC. Right now I do not have the funds to put together a true legit 4k/60fps PC rig and putting down nearly $1000 just to play at 1080p/60fps just isn't worth it. So I will enjoy MEA out the gate with improved 1080p graphics on the PS4 Pro with 30fps. Later this year I will go full 4K/60fps on a second playthrough when the money is right.
In a way, I am still upset that MEA is locked at 30fps on the PS4 pro. Perhaps it cannot run at 60fps but I am sure MEA on PS4 Pro is capable of pushing higher than 30fps but I fear that the whole "lets go for parity" concept took over so now the PS4P version is gimped, especially when other developers are able to do 1080p/60fps on the PS4P. Oh well...

Hmm....should I sign up for the free trial of Origin Access to get my discount on the game now, or should I wait to see if the 7 day free promo period will last long enough to include at least 1 day of the MEA access beginning on 3/16? I'm thinking I better try out the game for free to see if my system can even run it.

I'd say that if you want to want to play the early access the most then I say wait but if you want the discount the most then I'd say sign up for the free trial and buy the game now. Basically, go with whichever you want the most.

It's a complicated topic, I suppose, so it's not a can of worms Edit: I do wonder what MEA will bring... I wouldn't say I consider Anders to be an unrepentant monster: a heavily flawed man who does and can do terrible things sometimes because of how he and Vengenace influences each other. I do consider his plan to be all kinds of counterproductive to his goals: he intends to force a conflict between mages and templars into an open rebellion but seems to fail to consider that the mages are unprepared for something like that, don't have the support structure to do that and have very limited, if any, resources. Also, what he did can basically be used as an example to demonstrate how true all the worst suspecions about free mages are.
But yeah, that's not something that we should start discussing in this thread. Just wanted to share my last thoughts on it before moving on.
I hope there'll be a romance with a member of an Andromedan race. I know that sounds vague but basically I can see so many interesting ways that romance could go about and what it could potentially explore. I would still like to see alien customs being delved into during romances with aliens such as turians. I don't need for it to be the focus of the romance, just think it could be nice and interesting to see.

So happy that Torment: Tides of Numenera has been released. One more thing to keep me busy until we get the game. Supported the kick-starter ages ago and now it is finally here. Whee!! Playing a new character together with my husband, something nice to do in the evening. @ shechinah I also hope for a romance with one of the new races, would be fun. FemShep got Drell, Turian and asari, and BroShep got Quarian and asari. We will see how it ends up this time.
For those still struggling to find things to occupy themselves with. How about a stroll down memory lane in DA2.Poor Hawke, doesn't catch a break, lol Comics comes from Champions and Heroes. It has been going for many years now. Dragon Age, Mass Effect and a little bit of SWTOR as well. Highly recommended. championsandheroes.smackjeeves.com/comics/2355336/thedas-today-3-the-terrible-truth/

Ladies and gentlemen, we now have twenty days until release day and just fifteen days until early access! Now at what point can I reasonably start playing the early access without ending up having to stop playing because I've exhausted the early access time? Bearing in mind I'm in the UK and it releases at 11pm on the 22nd here. I'm thinking it's got to be Monday 20th, if I start any earlier I'll end up sat there several days moping becuase I've had to stop playing.

The early access for Mass Effect: Andromeda lasts for 10 hours and as far as I know, it releases on the 16th March for everybody regardless of locality. Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on the 22th March for Europe so are you asking for the best way of spreading those ten hours out over those six days?

I have the funds to upgrade the PC but I feel guilty doing it as I have a mortgage and other bills so I can't justify spending that much when I also have a console I can play it on. It does stink though because I know it will look and run so much better on the PC :sob: Oh well, at least I have a comfy couch to play on and a nice TV and sound system. Plus, I have a few friends who are getting MEA on PS4, so I can meet up with them in multiplayer. I'm planning on getting the deluxe edition mainly for the soundtrack. I don't believe we have a confirmation on who the composer is, but I still listen to the soundtrack for the original trilogy on a regular basis, especially ME1 and I'm hoping to do the same with this soundtrack.

Awww, I think I just got spoiled on a squadmate. I was in the Dragon Age II's Tallis thread and someone had a banner with a picture and a name
I had been staying away from the other forums but I'd gone back to participate in some threads and I ended up testing my luck too much.

Not to mention people have MEA chars as their avatars now and, as far I know, you can't block avatars, only sigs.

You can block avatars in the same place you block signatures. profile--edit profile--settings I've had both blocked for about a week. A little weird not seeing avatars, but it's better than seeing what I don't want to.
