I love how the environment looks, the level of detail is amazing. The place looks big! I'm not impressed with the animations, and I guess they wont be so much better in the final game. But we'll see.
Gosh, how I missed ME. And how I missed being excited over a new Bioware game *sniff* I can't wait for N7 day now.

I played this game back when it was called Halo 4. It did remind me of Halo 4. Not necessarily a bad thing. I'm on record as one of the eight people on planet Earth who actually liked Halo 4. With that said, the whole "matter appearing out of nothing" a'la every piece of Forerunner technology ever, isn't something that was ever a thing in Mass Effect and it really shouldn't be.

Wild Speculation: The remnant looked like robots to me... Maybe that is from where the name came. They are the remnants from some civilization already extinct still tending to their work long after they creators are gone. And maybe they are also tending to the plants , which would explain why they survive in that subterranean ambient. So Halo, essentially? The remnant are the Sentinels and the creators are the Foreunners.

Sorry if this has already been posted, its a video from playstation access where hollie talks to Mac. He confirms that male and female ryder are brother and sister. He also says the N7 guy is their dad. Sounds pretty cool. Great, family issues are practically guaranteed now. They really can't drop a single bad cliche of theirs, can they?

Watched the trailer: +Nice mood and interesting lcation. Visually impressive overall. -Sexy asari. Do people *still* ignore where to not leave your body uncovered if you want protection (*pukes*) All this nonsense about exposed flesh. I really don't get it. I suppose it would make more sense for Indiana Jones or Lara Croft to be exploring in Plate Mail or Space Suits just in case they get exposed to something really dangerous? There are people who value maneuverability or comfort over head to toe constriction especially if they're not trained soldiers. It may be safer to walk the streets of America in full body armour and helmet just in case you get caught up in a drive-by shooting or get run over by a car but it wouldn't be particularly practical even if you had access to the equipment. I just think it's a nonsensical critique to be honest. Indiana Jones and Lara Croft are only ever on Earth, where in general the conditions don't require fully sealed suits. These characters in Mass Effect however go on multiple planets, moons, stations, and ships where that is not the case. If Indy or Lara went there, their attire would ensure their death within a couple minutes. Furthermore, the lore of Mass Effect states that that is the case, hence why in Mass Effect 1 all characters wore fully sealed armor in hostile environments. So it breaks their own lore and the laws of physics thus breaks suspension of disbelief, all so they can just make characters more sexy. As for people who value maneuverability and comfort, there are fully sealed suits that still offer that in the franchise. The human characters in that same video are wearing three examples. If this is just what she wears for her recruitment mission and perhaps off-duty then that's one thing and is fine, but the issue people are having is if that is going to be her permanent field gear.

A nice little detail... Armor leaves it's marks on the underarmor.. I believe a while ago Bioware said the armor pieces will attach to the underarmor, so that makes sense.

Or... They could address this issue for once and for all. "Hey, I have a biotic shield. It regenerates so fast whenever I'm not wearing armor, that I don't need a breathing helmet, nor any kind of armor. In fact, it will get in my way, because I'm going in and doing recon." As stated before, the lore explicitely states that biotic barriers and shields do not protect the wearer from environmental hazards. That's why everyone in ME1 wore sealed armor or suits while out in said environments.

THis is a storm in a teacup. We know close to nothing about the environment to start drawning this kind of conclusions.
By the way, Liara was inside a active volcano using normal clothes simply because at the time there was no need to use a sealed suit. I believe the same can easily be applied here.

I generally agree that squad mates should have armor in mass effect, given the variety of conditions, to remain consistent with the setting. That said, I'm willing to bet this is the first mission we meet this character on and she's definitely not military. I'm all but certain we'll at least have the ME3 ability to change squadmate outfits.

Hype somewhat restored. I loved this dynamic in Dragon Age 2 even though I typically hate mushy family stuff irl, and in Hollywood films. I'm very excited.

I played this game back when it was called Halo 4. It did remind me of Halo 4. Not necessarily a bad thing. Chris Schlerf, the head writer before he left the team a while back, was the head writer from Halo 4. Some of that may have bleed into the script. Along with some of the more robotic design.

Still, she's dressed to thrill at this point. They couldn't resist going for the lowest common denominator again with an asari "alien" (sarcastic scoff) space babe. And people wonder why I hate this species. "Dressed to thrill"?... Are you serious? She has a small mid riff, big deal. It's not like she is wearing bikini or anything. What do you want her to wear, a burka? Her dress is plausible as a casual outfit for an Asari (or a human), and it actually fits her attitude from what we have seen so far. And assuming that the place wasn't supposed to be very dangerous, I don't really see a problem with her choice of attire. I will certainly expect her to wear armor when she joins the squad, but for a recruitment mission it makes perfect sense. The Asari are about as Alien as the rest of ME species, which is to say not very, on that we can agree. But the rest of the "Aliens" are similar in this regard, they are are perfect specimens of the "Planet of Hats" trope. It's just the fact that the Asari were created in "sin" (pandering to the "wrong" crowd) that triggers your type. At least we can bury those BS SJW claims now, no?

I shouldn't need to build a PC to play with 60 fps in 2016 Yeah i agree. But the thing is that this generation of consoles, as Crytek's (studio responsable for the Crysis series) director pointed out back in 2013, was launched with already outdated hardware. My former GPU, a gtx 760 - a basic and "cheap" gpu from 3 or 4 years ago - is way more powerful than what ps4 and xone has. And then we have this 2.0 versions of the SAME generation (ps4 pro and scorpio)... and bioware said andromeda will run @ 30 FPS ON PS4 PRO. I mean what the hell man... Frostbite 3 is a greatly optmizated engine and it's been around for a while - is not cutting edge technology, but the new and "unprecedented powerful" console cant sustain 60 fps running it? I bet almost everyone here would prefer to play @60fps - 1080p rather than upscaled 4K @ 30fps For not extremely casual players, PC gaming is the logical choice even with consoles having exclusives and pc ports being launched in a very poor way sometimes.

Some positives and some negatives. Environment looks crisp, as do the gameplay movements. Like the idea of having a Ryder family but as others have said I hope they're not used as a cheap source of tragedy because as at this point it would come off as very cliche. Cutscene didn't look impressive to me: lipsynching, body proportions, and movements all appeared off. I don't think you can chalk it up as pre-alpha since this was polished up for release to the public. I also didn't find the characters facial details particularly impressive given this game is slated for a 2017 release and doesn't look any better than DAI. Hair still looks plastic, over shiny, and lacking in detail and I'm skeptical it moves dynamically. I certainly wouldn't invest the money to move to 4K gaming based on that one cutscene. Maybe, hopefully, it gets better. But on balance it'll probably be worse since you know they won't put the same amount of effort into every single cutscene as what they show in the marketing material. If the combat system is refined as the general game movements that would be a big plus. N7 day should provide that answer. Hype level: moderate. Meh, Bioware was never amazing with animations and stuff, things seemed to have improved somewhat, but still... Hmm, depends on what you mean by improved. I still cringe thinking about how poorly DAI cutscenes were constructed, camera angles and lipsynching were particularly atrocious. I cannot recall any Bioware game prior where the cutscene animations were so god-awful. It's not like I'm asking for perfection, but how about just a little professional pride. I'd personally be embarrassed to release that level of quality. And no one can claim they were rushed for time given they've had twice the normal development period and a whole other major release to learn from mistakes made in Frostbite. I'd love to end up being wrong, but by nature I'm a pessimist and Bioware has been trending the wrong direction since DAO and ME2 imo.

1. Game continues to look very pretty. 2. Animations still have that classic BioWare jankiness. Shame, but I can live with it.

The problem is how to turn consoles into powerful devices without jumping sky high with the price tag. How much does a PS4 cost? 350 dollars (North America, because price varies greatly depending where you live). The GTX 1080 alone costs 400 dollars and it's just one of many components you need on your PC. Granted is the most powerful graphics card on the market. But it's supposed to allow PC players to run stuff at max settings at 4K resolutions 60fps average, and it costs the same that a whole console. How much is the PS4 Pro gonna cost? 400 apparently and it's going to allow 4K-ish resolutions at 30 fps. I still call that a great trade. Building a 4K PC would cost much more money than that. The day than consoles can run games at real 1080p at real 60fps, is the day the price tag will be much more higher than people would be comfortable with, I think.

Not to be overly critical... but the (male) Ryder facial model looks very early-Xbox360 level, to me.
Maybe I'm just grumpy towards games in general right now... I just replayed Alan Wake and I'm currently replaying The Last of Us (standard ps3 issue) and both those games look as good (or better in TLOUS's case) than most current gen games. I'm fairly perturbed.
In particular, The Last of Us's character models (faces, specifically) were AMAZING, especially considering that it was last-gen. What exactly is the hold up?
*Or am I just being too critical of pre-alpha images displayed via youtube (despite it being a tech demo)?

For not extremely casual players, PC gaming is the logical choice even with consoles having exclusives and pc ports being launched in a very poor way sometimes. 90% of gamers is "extremely casual"? 90% of gaming today is done on 1080 screens. Until one drops below a hundred bucks, I'm not upgrading. And even then, I'd have to seriously consider it. I'm on a PC, just got through checking the steam stats, yep, Something like 85% of all PC gamers are on 1080 monitors. I dunno where this dude is getting his figures, but I wouldn't suggest sniffing them.

What you see now is what you're gonna see on the final product graphic wise. If at this point those graphics are not final then they're in deep trouble. I never expected ME to be a tech innovator in the industry. Actually I like the graphics.
