Hello everybody, I started playing at release and lost interest around Havarl. Giving it another go and I find myself wondering 2 things, from an Original Trilogy Nerd POV... 1. When during 2185 did the Hyperion launch? My initial assumption was before the resurrection of Shepard but the presence of Normandy SR-2 models seems to rule that out. So is it during ME2 or between ME2 and ME3? Has anyone been able to lock it down? 2. The Heleus Cluster vs The Andromeda Galaxy: which am I in? Is the whole map just the Heleus Cluster? Or is the Cluster just a chunk of the total map, like say the Attican Traverse or the Skyllian Verge was to the Milky Way? Thanks in advance for your help, it will help my headcanon a lot

I'm not sure exactly when in 2185. 2. AFAIK the whole map is just the Heleus Cluster.

The SR2 was completed before Shepard's resurrection, so the plans would have existed a good while before that.

Between ME2 and ME3. My guess is it left not long before the Reapers arrived though so just before the events of ME3 would be my guess based on the Ryder's memories quest. 2. The short answer is both the story takes place within the Heleus cluster of the Andromeda galaxy.

The codex/ journal for the SR-2 says something to the effect 'this is taken from the obtained blueprints of the SR-2, no one knows how the initiative got their hands on them. The whole game takes place in Heleus.

Nexus Uprising actually suggests it leaves on New Years Day 2186. If that's the case, it's between ME2 and ME3. 2. The Heleus Cluster is a part of the Andromeda Galaxy. It just happens to be as big as the entire MW for some reason.

I think there's a lot of intentional vagueness about the date of departure, seems like you can draw whichever conclusion works for you, if you're even inclined to do so. It makes me wonder if they're working on a DLC for the Quarian Ark that will allow you to decide/learn how ME3 ended, as it seems likely they would have left after the Reaper War... ends, however it does. Regarding Heleus/Andromeda... yeah, that's what's confusing to me. The distance between systems seems pretty large if the map is meant to be Andromeda and we're just in one cluster. Also it seems to be mostly formed around one black hole so it's a little confusing. It being just Heleus is better as it seems like a very barren galaxy otherwise.

The book mentions the AI had a party on NYE and left the next day while they all still had hangovers.
As for the quarian ark, maybe, but it's just as likely the left in the midst of ME3, or even just before. The Andromeda journey took 633 year for the Nexus and 634 for the human, salarian, turian and asari arks. The quarian ark seems to have made it to Andromeda. We just don't know where. Given that information I'd have to say the didn't leave more than a few months after the other arks, assuming it also took 633-634 years.

1) Does seem vage, but it seems that the ark left around the time Sheppard was getting resurected. There are some messages, if you get the memory triggers that make me think it was before Shepard went through the Omega 4 relay, but we may never get a presis answer.
2) Seems to confuse many. The name of the game says Adromada, but it only takes place in 1 cluster (which is why mass relays or, whatever they would be called in Adromada, aren't needed) I believe they will add more clusters in future dlc's or ME:A2.

When Sloane describes it as "the last day of 2185 AD", I'm believe that she means it's the last day for everyone in the Initiative. They will all go to sleep within hours, and awaken in 2800+. I thought that the MEA Codex narrowed the departure window to post ME2, but I'm in no position to validate, at the moment.

We have escapees from project Overlord in Heleus. We also have folk who worked on project Lazarus.
Shepard was out in the Terminus systems, departure post-resurrection seems possible, but before Arrival.

Since Jockey mentioned Lazarus, one of the Tempest crew was actually invited to work on that but refused.
