Well, what stuff do they show on TV? Stuff that is trending, right now bowel diseases are on the rise, in the last 5 years bowel diseases have increased by 40% in the western world, so I guess thats why TV is picking it up too. Right now you'd be hard pressed to find a disease that is spreading even more. Heck, its so trending that even I got a bowel disease right out of fucking nowhere, and two friends too. And I am talking about severe inflammation that fucks up your life and sends you to the hospital, not soft poop from time to time.
If it raises awareness, why not. This crap is often mis-diagnosed by doctors who don't know anything about that, which often leads to very bad and dangerous progression of the illness. This can get so bad that you die. If you don't find that shit (pun intended) informative, switch the channel. They only show shit on the TV anyway so good luck.
Personally, I find all health related shows pretty interesting, I don't care if its about the heart, the lungs, bowels or genitalia. They often get things wrong because its TV but there is always some useful information to salvage, plus it gets me thinking and researching and investigating real studies and papers. I absorb medical knowledge like a sponge because little is more important than that, my knowledge about medical stuff helped me several times to avoid foolish decisions by my doctors and draw my own conclusions and allowed me to make decisions like picking the better option based on knowledge and understanding.
I recommend acquiring a good understanding about your body and medications and not just relying entirely on your doctors, this may prove extremely useful some time in your life.

Lol it was Superfoods on Channel 4 in a section about probiotics and fermented foods. Probably the same ppl who commissioned the naked dating show. That naked dating show is almost as weird as the talkshow where people had sex in a box (offscreen), then talked about it afterwards.
And why do all of these shows seem to come from Channel 4? Here I was thinking that ITV were the only ones to put out utter dreck... Both those shows were stupid and only existed for the headlines. Naked dating! People having sex in a box! This is why I rarely watch UK tv. ITV is utter tripe, one more drama about a plucky woman with a dark past, who's family don't appreciate her OMFG. 4 is mostly terrible yes, although they did a great job with the Bake Off.

Is the box slowly shrinking? Or is it a small slowly shrinking splintery wooden box with stinkbugs in it? I'd totally watch that.

That....would be an interesting concept. I didn't watch it but I saw a clip, it was a white box with a bedroom in it I think? Then they came out and talked about the encounter with a shrink in front of an audience. British tv folks.

Edit: anyone know what game engine they used to make the vidya parts of this video? It looks like it could be the BioWare Aurora, but it is hard to tell. I doubt it or we would know this.

I did a search re the video and the director but did not come up with anything re the engine used. I do like that video and song though.

What makes it worse is that people from the UK have to pay to watch TV. How is having to pay for a TV license any different than paying for a streaming service like Netflix, HBO or Amazon Prime?

The UK has a nice little racket going on with TVs. Yup. The TV licence had a purpose back in the day, and for a long while it's main benefit was an ad free channel. Nowadays, with all the extra channels and services we have, it just seems irrelevant.

Sounds like she ought to be the shining beacon of inspiration for others to emulate there. She needs to go to the nearest town center and drive the end of a sledgehammer into a TV screen whilst yelling "no more TV taxes!!!".

You have to pay for it by law, even if you never watch the BBC. Simply owning a television means you have to pay up. That's because it's technically a government tax on owning a television, rather than watching the BBC.
The government put the BBC in charge of issuing the licenses for them and the fees collected go to the government. From there that money is bestowed back to the BBC as part of a grant, to cover the bulk of their funding for the next year (since without adverts, they don't have any other source of generating revenue).
So it's less a BBC tax and more the BBC working as taxmen for the government and getting paid in what they collect.
Yeah, it's weird, but would you rather pay a fee to keep the BBC... or only watch ITV and Channel 4?
(Or Channel 5, if that's still around? It is? Why?)

I'd rather the beeb had adverts. I record everything and fast forward thru them anyway. And honstly I watch mostly US, Canadian, Auzzie and NZ shows so I'd barely miss any of the channels. I can't even think of one BBC show I'd miss.....oh wait I like Death in Paradise. It's stupid, tropical escapism.

The second one. We only watch Gotham and Agents of Shield on E4. The rest of the time we play on the Xbox or the PS4.

My grandma now has gangrene in her foot due to a lack of circulation because she's had a very sedentary life for the past 20 years. They won't amputate because they say it will kill her, So now she's dying on hospice. I couldn't sleep for the past couple of days and this is probably the reason why, it's past 3:20 AM now and I'm still up. Life is fucking brutal.

I'm sorry to hear that; years ago I lost my grandmother under terrible circumstances as well; I feel with you. But if they say she'll die anyway, can't the risk the amputation?

Sorrowful. I wish you strength and forbearance. Also I agree with Beetle about amputation.
