does it stand out like Witcher does Detroit: Become Human meets Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I'm sure it'll be terrific, but The Witcher III was a much more unique setting, as was Geralt frankly... How so? I love W2/3 and adore the novels but unique setting?? It's basically a parody of fairy tales. So maybe that is a kind of unique setup for a series but it's really just a grotesque spin on very familiar grounds. What makes the Witcher series so great is the characterization. There is a lot of heart in the novels (and the third game). Made me tear up a few times. The party banter is very similar to Bioware's style. The novels are all about these flawed characters. When I first started playing W3 I was disappointed how bland the game looked. Just miles and miles of countryside. I'm more of a colorful fantasy kind of person where things do NOT look realistic. Took new few hours to get into the game. Now Blood And Wine looked GREAT! Better game by itself than 99% of full games. That Grimm's fairy tale nightmare sequence was delightful! I giggled like a schoolgirl every other minute. But I don't get the disappointment with the Cyberpunk trailer. I thought it looked damn amazing. And thank god it's not just bleak rainy skies 24/7!

I really liked the trailer. It projected a world I was totally expecting from Cyberpunk.
I love the books from William Gibson. The world in the trailer was like he described it in "Neuromancer", "Count Zero" and "Mona Lisa Overdrive" (and maybe a bit of "Idoru" and "Virtual Light"). It was just as I was expecting. Bright Neon, Big Corporation celebrities, shady business, people in the gutter, hackers, mobs and all that stuff. It's all in that short trailer. I love it.
Not dark enough? The darkness in the Neuromancer's world has nothing to do withe daylight. In fact - Some of those story's start in a town that's overheated by sunlight at day, and only lighted by neon at night. It's not the light, but the world itself that is pitch dark in those story's.
I am really looking forward to this game.

That trailer. It was okay. A bit too plasticy, the materials and lighting had something off IMHO, way too bright for CP in my opinion. Its not ready yet so I hope and hope..

But I don't get the disappointment with the Cyberpunk trailer. I thought it looked damn amazing. And thank god it's not just bleak rainy skies 24/7! Apparently Cyberpunk 2020 is known for emphasizing the Punk in Cyberpunk, or so I’ve heard second hand. I like that we seem to be seeing that here.

I'm not sure what kind of a world a cyberpunk world is for same sex relationships and such, but you'd imagine it'd be a no big deal From all the media that is part of the cyberpunk genre, I’d say same sex relationships are not seen as a big deal. For example one of the most famous cyberpunk characters is Motoko Kusanagi from the Ghost in the Shell franchise is a bisexual woman whom we see in a polyamorous relationship with two other women named Ran and Kurutan.

About the daylight, it's actually not that it is day that is the problem, it's too bright/clean. Night City is supposed to be covered in pollution. I suspect it was aimed at people already familiar to some degree with the setting, or perhaps merely something intended to show the tone of the world. The "underwear model" actually has a point even if it may not be obvious were you to look only at the visual. There's a theme in Cyberpunk, about people who become addicted to augmentations, addicted to becoming more, and the "underwear model" kinda exemplifies that. She has the "perfect" body, and she's also a deadly killing machine. On some level, from the twisted point of view of a "psycho" (those who start to feel disillusioned with their humanity and humanity as a whole due to said addiction) she's perfect. And that's the whole issue with those types. Give them some credit, even if something about their style just rubs you the wrong way. I get that theme, my problem is those augments are impractical. Why is she a killing machine to begin with with? Wouldn't her augments be something less conspicuous when it comes to augment implementation. The trailer tonight showed a runway with a woman entirely made of silver. That to me is a better augment over blades protruding from her limbs. Show that model going psycho and slamming folks colossus style. It rubbed me the wrong way because it made no sense. Even with my limited knowledge of the setting. If it was trying to world build too it failed at that then as well in retrospect, as the new trailer is a different tone all together. In the first trailer, the girl was a prostitue-assassin (it's a classic in cyberpunk setting). Her limbs were extended after she went on a rampage, normally she would look like a normal person. In the latest trailer, the "popstar" is in chrome (don't you see the guy with the panel: "Chrome me babies"?) and she's probably packing some serious hardware under all that chrome too.

Thought the trailer was very well done, I especially liked how it bucked with tradition and showcased a cyberpunk setting full of bright and cheerful colors; in daylight no less. Going grimdark is easy enough, just go down to one of the lower levels at night for that. Heck you can even get a Mad Max/Fallout/Rage vibe just by traveling outside the city and interacting with the nomad clans out there, so it's not like the game is going to be absent of the expected elements of the genre. Really the theme of the brighter/cheerful visuals fit rather well with the narration behind the trailer in that everyone wants the glitz and glamor, the fame and power on offer in the city, but that it all comes at a cost.
Couple of things about the game overall, based on what little we know as well as some thoughts on what's being speculated:
1) I do like how we are getting CC for this game. Being able to recreate my character as an homage to the tabletop Cyberpunk 2020 days will be a really cool way to start off my first play through. I do hope that all areas of the setting, and the roles associated with said elements will be implemented as well. The main protagonist may have a given voice and/or personality, but if I want to go off and be a hit man for a roving nomad clan, or go rub elbows with the rich and famous as a journalist or corporate lackey I would like the game to give me that freedom.
2) The trailer showed some nice insights into the mods and implants we can expect to see in the final product. My hope is that full droid conversions; essentially 'brain in a jar' inside a fully robotic body; are a fully realized mechanic in this game as well. And I want to see crazy options available for these conversions too.
Don't just limit us to basic (i.e. boring) terminator set ups either. The tabletop had options for players to insert their brains into armored battle vans, vtol scouting or assassination platforms, or even into treaded/walker mechs that could level a city block. If the player character opts to pursue transhumanism to that level, in all its chrome-filled glory, then they shouldn't be constrained to humanoid forms anymore. Dermal armor is great for the posers, being a literal tank is for the purists.
Oh and a sub-point to droid conversions, and implants in general: I don't want the game to treat more modifications = less human & therefore = more evil.
I get that cyber-psychosis is a thing in this setting, but so is high priced therapy treatments and people of strong will generally being able to handle the conversion process better than others and not instantly go insane. By all means impose penalties on players that heavily mod themselves, but don't arbitrarily place chromed-out characters on the evil side of the moral scale and depict them as some horrible monsters, that only want to eat babies and step on puppies because they did the unthinkable and traded in their 'souls'. Shadowrun generally holds this stance and it's very annoying at times. The notion that transhumanism is this great evil and should be avoided at all costs is a rather archaic view to hold for these games, especially since what makes a person human is not how many arms and legs they have, or if they are made out of flesh and blood.
3) Arguably the most important feature for this game: multiplayer. Now I am completely fine with CDPR releasing the core single player campaign separate at launch, at ensuring the best possible experience for their audience provided that they then release downloadable content later on that allows people to plan jobs, heists, or general mayhem with their friends. And not as some piece of crap 'battle royal' PvP side mode either. Fully integrated drop in/drop out co-op please. I get the hesitation many single player only fans may have, but the fact is this game is based off a tabletop setting that had multiplayer as a key integral feature. To not include this feature will lessen the overall experience (IMO) as doing a corporate sabotage run as a net runner, while your solo and rocker boy/gal provided covering fire was one of the best things about playing the game.
In short, my friends and I have been waiting years for a faithful adaptation of the Cyberpunk setting, on top of the years we've been waiting to see some more info after CDPR's initial announcement back in 2012, so let us remake our old characters and go run jobs together dammit.

I was personally happy with the trailer, although I’d have liked to see a gameplay part. Maybe it’ll showcased in another conference or in their booth, though, or maybe as a private demo. We’ll see. I’m pretty happy about that the addiction of a CC, and the name of the protagonist is vague enough to work for any kind. Plus, it’s not a title or something like that.
I think they’d consider adding a MP part to the game post launch, although I’m personally fine that they’d focus on SP for now.

In the latest trailer, the "popstar" is in chrome (don't you see the guy with the panel: "Chrome me babies"?) and she's probably packing some serious hardware under all that chrome too. Yeah I believe that is one of the options in the rule book to get your cyberlimbs or dermal armour chrome plated along with all sorts of cosmetic enhancements, if anyone reading has any interest in this game at all I would suggest taking a look at the rule books to get an idea of what exists within the universe and what CDPR have to draw on when creating this game, voltor.narod.ru/cp2020/contents.htmlwww.ronin-tribal.com/piazza/Sheets/CP2020%2005%20Cyberware%20Listing.pdflooking at the options for cosmetics alone it would seem CDPR has the opportunity to go completely nuts when it comes to visual customization of the player character and I really hope they do take advantage of that, there is even the option to turn your character into a furry if that is what floats your boat voltor.narod.ru/cp2020/132.htmPersonally I hope that if the protagonist is voiced (and lets face it they probably will be) that they allow us to install vocal synthesizers and different voice box modifications, I know there will probably be more than a few skills and augments that might be a little difficult to implement and wont make the cut, however I can't imagine augmentations that allow us to alter our characters voice would be too hard to implement and could be a potential source of amusement even if it doesn't have any practical application in gameplay.

Just got a strong GTA vibe which kinda rubs me the wrong way. Interesting. Personally, I thought that the trailer was very distinctive, almost unique. I can't think of any other game that had similar visuals. (this is supposed to be in-engine IIRC) I was waiting a long time for this, and this trailer just made me remember the good-ol' times when I used to actually get excited for video games... I feel that there's a good chance that this will be the second slam dunk for CDPR in a row. Agreed, not often these days a trailer gets my heart racing a little. This one did though.

My first reaction to the trailer was "GTA with a futuristic skin" and slimgrin727 and I are clearly not the only ones getting that impression looking across the internet. The reasons for that is the tone of the trailer, not the models and textures. The fact that CDPR had to hide text saying "don't get fooled by the cars and guns" tells me they are aware of that too. On second rewatch, I saw lots of very Cyberpunk (pnp) things though.

On second rewatch, I saw lots of very Cyberpunk (pnp) things though. I think I watched it three or four times as well, and that's exactly what I'm talking about. Very Cyberpunk. The question is now is will it translate. The impression from reading folks here is that the similarities to the tabletop is the important part of what the trailer tells us, but how accurately will they display that tabletop I wonder now.

So here's a dream scenario: Cyberpunk turns into a smash hit, and CDPR decides to expand even further into another franchise, they get the licence, and make a Cyberpunk-like game set in the Warhammer 40K universe... Totally ! Based on " Necromunda " , throw in some Inquisition and Tyranid Genestealer Cults / Cults of Slaanesh... endless potential....

As for game mechanics, that's undoubtedly where they'll take the most liberties.

The impression from reading folks here is that the similarities to the tabletop is the important part of what the trailer tells us, but how accurately will they display that tabletop I wonder now. Going by how the majority doesn't seems to care about the source material by some arguments I saw (and had) in other communities on the internet since it was announced in 2012, it doesn't matter how faithful they are, CDPR is going to praised whatever they do. For example, I saw some people applauding CDPR for not going dystopian with the game after seeing the trailer, but the Cyberpunk pnp setting might be full of punk and neons, it is still dystopian in nature. The trailer gets the look of the setting (punk style, neon colors and companies) and it shows most of the PnP roles and a bunch of stuff related to skills in the proper way, but most of those are clearly NPCs. Then I learned that the player character is somewhat preset as a "hired gun" which means half the PnP roles are unlikely to be available to the player. And today I was trying to match the metro map at the start of the trailer over the 2020 Night City manual city map and they moved around a lots of the districts, yet kept the part that was destroy at the end of 2020 campaign rather intact. I'm rather puzzled by them moving Little China to where Little Italia was for example. Do people care about any of that, nope. CDPR going full action game with HP songe bosses and gaining HP via level will not bother the majority who are going to to buy the game (for the records, the pnp has no hit-points, it use injuries threshold, I'll be very surprised if they adapt that, it's rather deadly).

There’ll be at least an interview later today. Beyond that, I don’t think anyone knows, but I think we’ll get to hear about a behind closed doors showing if nothing else. The message in the trailer said to watch out for previews, after all.

There is something later today with Geoff Keighley and the xbox presentation suggested they had a gk_wip to show. They are also doing behind closed door showing starting today at E3, so there should be some previews dropping in a few days. Finally, the official website has a blog post with e3schedule.inf as a title that just says ERR0R. I expect it to be filled today.

So here's a dream scenario: Cyberpunk turns into a smash hit, and CDPR decides to expand even further into another franchise, they get the licence, and make a Cyberpunk-like game set in the Warhammer 40K universe... I would like the see they try a space opera next and give Bioware a run for their money. Now that would be something.

So anyone know what the promo plan for Cyberpunk is at E3? Will they be releasing gameplay footage to the public or will it be a behind closed doors deal? If yöu make a thread aböut it, it will happen faster!
