I never felt so torn about one thing in my life like with this game. Every detail looks perfect(the character creator looks like a dream) and it’d mean a granted pre-order, but on the other hand I hate FPP too much to not be pissed off every time I’d run it. Maybe I’ll just get the game and spend my time creating characters. Why not just wait and see? The CE is basically sold out everywhere, so there's really no reason to pre-order now, besides showing your support for CDPR. Plus there's no pre-order bonus in which I am aware of. Also CDPR would rather someone who's on the fence to not pre-order, so they won't regret. So if I were in your shoes, I'd just wait for more gameplay to come forth. Personally I don't like FPP either, but the reasons they stated why they are using it was enough to convince me.

Maybe I’ll just get the game and spend my time creating characters. 100 hours of my 300 hours in Dragon Age Inquisition are pretty much just that.

I’s already thinking to wait for a possible TPP mod.

Wow these idiots are now saying Mike pondsmith is subconsciously racist against other black people because he defended cyberpunk and CDPR. lol what is going on? Hasn't gamergate been dead for a while? These fools still talking about it.

I find it most amusing that the game itself predicted the current climate that 77 will launch into the modern day with. ...Seriously Nostradamus level shit.

No Nostradamus needed, the Collapse in Cyberpunk timeline happened in 1996. Mike was writing about what was happening in the 80s (explosion of collective narcissism. Sigmund Freud wrote a theory on it back in the 1920s). They just didn't have social media back then.

And indeed, I can see how people can see it as racist. But I do also understand that people seeing it as racist are incredibly stupid.

Mike Pondsmith, the creator of Cyberpunk, in a post on Reddit: Want to say this just once. I am really tired of well meaning people on internet chat boards paternalistically telling me what I, as a black person, should be offended by. You want to be my ally? Go gird up your loins and at this year's Thanksgiving dinner, have the nerve to tell your racist Uncle Bob to STFU for a change.

I could see the criticism if they were an all black or all minority gang. That would be iffy at best. Maybe the reviewers who had an issue with it just had some bad luck and on their playthrough of the demo a disproportionate number of the gang members that spawned were black, though that's pure speculation on my part.
Now, black people who're racist against other black people is a thing that exists - I recently left a job where the assistant manager was a black woman who was racist against other black people, and that isn't me inferring things based on behavior, it's from direct, explicit statements she made to me in private conversations. But that's anecdotal and aside from any point; nothing I've seen of Mike Pondsmith suggests to me that he has any actual bias, conscious or unconscious, against his own or any other race or ethnicity.
What I think is happening is more a case of people doubling down on their initial reaction and justifying their outrage over a limited amount of content in what promises to be a very large game, and in doing so they've accused a black man of self loathing and everyone who's criticized their stance as being a far right nutjob. "If you don't see the racism in Cyberpunk, you have to be one of those gamergate nutjobs" is essentially what they're saying, to discredit those who are calling them out.
Which, even if one gives Rock Paper Shotgun the benefit of the doubt that the initial article was written in good faith to express genuine (if, in my opinion, overblown & premature) concerns with the game and not a contrarian click bait hit piece, I don't buy that this doubling down is genuine. I think they're fully aware of what they're doing at this point.

Life in Cyberpunk 2077 ; Romances etc"We do have romances in the game, and I don't want to get into how many we have at this point," he says. "However, you can engage in relationships with different entities, and we believe that each of these NPCs is an interesting and strong character who would be quite memorable, and they have their own goals. They have their own ideas about the world and so on. And you can engage with them, interact with them and their moments."I'm curious to see how they handle the romances especially as they will now be expanded outside of their previous experience.

I could see the criticism if they were an all black or all minority gang. That would be iffy at best. It would still be idiocy if they were an all black or all minority gang. It is basically the whole n-word situation. "WE can call ourselves the n-word, and call other's the n-word... but you? Nah fam, you can not call us the n-word because that would be racist." Using the logic of the outraged mob though: who am I, as a white man, to tell what a black man should do, or should be offended by... what am I, racist?

I do doubt that it would be any different from romances we have in, say, Dragon age. Basically a rail-roading story with a NPC character written to have a personality and either liking or disliking what you do in the game, approval meter is high enough? Romance! As per usual. I would be surprised if they'd go ahead and add some more complexity to it, such as remembering certain choices during the story, rather than relying on an approval meter alone. You may have abused the system to such a degree that your approval meter is high enough, and you look like a saint. But you still kinda killed that bag of innocent kittens by throwing it into a river, insert Telltale: [RomanceOption]: Will Remember That. You may be the baddest and perhaps to an extend the evilest piece of garbage on the planet, but you do treat animals and maybe kids right, again, the romance option will remember that. Rely more heavily on single acts within the story to determine how certain NPCs view you. Rather than an approval meter or karma meter or whatever alone. Now that is homework for game developers out there!

I must admit. I am curious as to how one would write a 'bisexual' romance. I understand that a character can be bisexual and be attracted to either gender, but. That does become kinda redundant at the end of the day if the romance is a non-poly one, no? I mean, I suppose that is considering 'romance' as ending up in a relationship.

Yeah I'm going to fundamentally disagree with your point here because you seem to have trouble grasping how context and intent does make a difference, as well as just drawing a blatant false equivalency. I don't know if you are a racist or are just a troll playing on racism for a laugh which is a bit of a distinction in search of a difference.
