Since the Trespasser DLC I really like the Qunari as well I really want to play another Qunari (a warrior, already did a mage). So far I have 3 elves (2 males, one female, all mages), 1 human (female, also a mage), 1 qunari (male, also a mage...). I really need to stop playing mages :|

She is awesome. That's why she's my avatar. Like you, I had Montano voice my femquisitor dwarf. I did notice a big difference between the two. I will always stick with AWR. She's my only choice for my humans, just fits so well. Mixed it up a lil bit for my elves tho, two were voiced by Sumalee, one by Alix. I tried to make an elf the other day with Sumalee's voice and I just couldn't make it work. It looked so weird to me, this deep voice coming out of this tiny little elven body... >.< Frankly, AWR is largely responsible for the reason I keep playing the same character over and over again; that voice has just become such an intrinsic part of my first Inquisitor that hearing it come out of a different face makes me uncomfortable and moving on, nigh impossible. I've never really had that problem in a game before, but it's a credit to everyone involved, I guess!

My weird reasoning behind picking Sumalee twice for those elves was I wanted a voice that wasn't too posh/noble for my shem wary elves. If there was a third option, an Irish/Scottish voice I would have jumped on that fast.

I even used him on my Qunari, though that was a bit weird at first. Now I'm playing an elf again and I just can't get enough of listening to him talk.

As of right now, I've played two dwarves, two qunari, two humans and one elf. Another elf is up next to even things up. Mind you, after that I'm vaguely intending to make a third dwarf so I can play the one specialization I'll still be missing, so it's likely that my favourite Dragon Age race will win in the long run. Andraste's [redacted], I didn't recognize you, Andraste! I primarily identify posters by avatar So far I have 4 humans, sort of, nothing else. I say sort of because the first 2 are really the same character, and the latter 2 are also the same (different) character, more or less. I generally end up replaying a character I like rather than creating someone new, for a few reasons, although I switch some things up. For instance, my first character, Meredith, was a dual-rogue. Lots of fun. Meredith 2.0 however, was an archer. Same person though. Similarly, my Cullenmancer, Rowan (the one in my avatars), was a mage, partly for the added Cullen stuff and partly to try a mage. Next, I made Rowan a warrior (no mage dialogue unfortunately, but that just means I get to pick other options, and I got to talk to him about the Templar spec). So I have all classes. I actually really liked doing that, because it was interesting to RP the same character if they had a different life - in this case, not being a mage. Apparently I feel like writing a lot today That's good, though, I think; I haven't lately Imagine trying to post this answer via Twitter. Like you I romanced Cullen with a circle mage, just felt like the best fit given his Templar past and such. Was weirdly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Haha yeah, that wouldn't go over so well *sigh of relief* I'm glad this place is here. Exactly, it's great, right? Especially when he talks about how ashamed he is of how he used to see mages. So sweet The forbidden romance aspect is oddly intriguing too. Funnily enough, I was also weirdly surprised at how much I enjoyed it! Never romanced a guy before, not that I've done very many to begin with. I like playing as a lady Inquisitor, because Alix Wilton Regan's voice acting is awesome. But I had Sumalee Montano's voice once for my dwarf. She is awesome. That's why she's my avatar. Like you, I had Montano voice my femquisitor dwarf. I did notice a big difference between the two. I will always stick with AWR. Sometimes most of the time I feel like I'm the only one who likes Sumalee more It's okay, I'm usually the odd one out. I liked Alix fine as Traynor, but not as the Inquisitor for some reason. I think all Inquisitors were more dull than they could have been at first, and I know they're capable, so I blame VO direction. I'm glad they improved in JoH and Trespasser though! I especially liked Sumalee in Cullen's romance and Trespasser.

I actually really liked doing that, because it was interesting to RP the same character if they had a different life - in this case, not being a mage. For me, there are 2 main reasons why I usually play humans: 1. I don't have anything against playing other races, I just find humans a bit more relatable, which I find important in a protagonist. So basically the same reason I always end up playing women. I don't have anything against playing as men (except variety, but nothing inherent), I just find women more relatable. It works, so why mess with it? 2. I like replaying characters instead of making new ones. After all, who doesn't like to rewatch a great movie, or reread a great book? Nothing major has to change each time for me to be interested, although I do change some things. Another reason would be appearance, but it's not a main reason and it really depends on the game if it ends up being a reason at all. Face-wise, I like my characters to look pretty good, and I find that I usually end up liking how humans look more than others and/or have an easier time in the CC with them. Body-wise, since we usually can't pick, it's up in the air. I'm nowhere near as curvy as the ridiculous model-body Trevelyan has ( ), but Levellan doesn't really look healthy( ), Cadash looks like a child with boobs ( ) , I don't even remember Adaar well (why were there no other female qunari in the game?), but there, the face gets me. So there's something annoying about all of them in DA:I. Really hope we can finally have body-sliders in the next game to avoid all of that at once. For those curious, this is the closest character I have to my body-type:
Apparently I feel like writing a lot today That's good, though, I think; I haven't lately I agree. I find humans easier to create in the cc, hence why I have so many characters. Dwarves are not bad and Elves are a bit of a challenge. I had to remake both of my Elven lady Inquisitors more than once before I was satisfied with their looks. As for body types, I wish there was a way to alter them. Not just physique, but height as well. Just wondering, which game is that screen cap from? Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning? I romanced Cullen with a Mage Inquisitor twice and it was interesting to hear the extra dialogue. My Elven lady Necromancer, who romanced him last time was fun. I imagined Cullen's family were a bit spooked that his not so girl next door type girlfriend liked to hang out with ghosts and corpses However, I like pairing him with a Rogue. My Assassin was the only one who married him. Reason being there's something daring in being with a woman, who's confident, cheeky, cunning and doesn't play fair in a fight. Plus she can get General Uptight to blush quite easily and top him in bed every time

I like her better too. I use Alix for my female elves and Sumalee for everyone else. I accidentally picked Alix's voice (or it glitched) with my dwarf and I had to remake her (this was before BE) because she just sounded wrong. I also can't use Alix in a game I have female Hawke because their voices sound identical to me. That was the set up I had in my first PT and I had no idea who was saying what during that mission.

My favorite is elf. I wanted to be a Dalish mage in Origins and in DAI I finally have my wish. (Most of my Wardens are also elves.) BUT I have played other races in DAI and I think they're also fun: 3 elves (2 mages, 1 rogue) 2 humans (Circle mages~) 1 qunari (mage!) I plan to do another qunari (mage) and... eventually hope to do a (warrior) dwarf. In case it isn't obvious I really prefer magic so... Also, I'll probably end up doing more elves in the future.

1 elf 2 humans 1 qunari Dwarves are actually my favorite, but because of what felt most right to me for the romances I have chosen, I haven't yet played as a dwarf. But the next one will be a dwarf, and after that probably another elf

Andraste's [redacted], I didn't recognize you, Andraste! I primarily identify posters by avatar Heh. Sorry for any confusion caused, I decided that a new forum deserved a new avatar! (It's actually the same dwarf I'd been using since late 2014; just a portrait shot instead of her riding a majestic nuggalope through the Hissing Wastes.)

She's my only choice for my humans, just fits so well. Mixed it up a lil bit for my elves tho, two were voiced by Sumalee, one by Alix. Sumalee does a decent job on some lines but the accent threw me for a loop. I did a double take when I heard it was meant to be an American accent. She does fit an Inquisitor with a hardened, cynical personality. Sometimes, it's much more fitting than Alix's lighter, more lilted words.

Oh right, so far, I liked the Dalish Inquisitor most. While I'd prefer the human build more, the culture is more interesting. If I had to rank which races I'd prefer playing, it'd be: 1. Dalish 2. Human 3. Qunari 4. Dwarf
Now, it's not because I think they're superior that I prefer them, it's just where it fell. Stil disappointed that the Qunari Inquisitor didn't get more racial acknowledgement in Trespasser.

I have a hard time not playing elves in DAI.
In the early game, I really want to play a human true-believer; a nobleman who can comfortably move in the same circles as Cassandra, Vivienne, Josie, etc...
Then I start thinking of the 80% of the game that revolves around elvhen ruins and culture.

I juts couldn't help myself with him - cheeky, blunt fellow he was (he changed in Trepasser though, became warmer somewhat, as well as totally destroying any sense of humor he made have had). Yeah, I liked my canon in Trepasser

I'm glad to know in advance. I need to finally complete a Trevelyan, and then I was going to play a dwarf. Bad camera work for 100+ hours would be very annoying.

Actually more often than not it's adjusted. It's just... It sometimes gets really strange. Here's a video with one of the strange angles. At the beginning you have cutscene with Cullen. At one point you get 'table' angle There's also an issue of dwarves suddenly being as high as humans/elves. Especially visible during romance scenes. Out of two non-standard height races, dwarves got the short end of the stick.

This is my single favorite thing about the DAO series, the fact that it makes me feel like an adventuring archaeologist.

Hard to say.. probably a draw between human and elf, but I would be a total sucker for Qunari IF they didn't look like complete garbage in DA:I. Oh, and the hairstyles suck, and qunari hairstyle mods are such poop, especially the male ones where you have to settle for long hair that looks ridiculous as you move around, as there is no animation and it's just a big block of pixels. I hope Qunari's dont get shafted in DA4
