Gotta have a chokepoint for that. The North doesn't look like it has enough of them. Also a spike easily clogs up after 1 or two uses and becomes harmless. I have stories to tell from Dwarf Fortresses... If the whitewalkers shatter into dust when they're skewered with dragonglass, then spikes clogging up shouldn't be much of an issue though. There doesn't seem to be much of the whitewalkers once they shatter and quite a few of them would have to go down before the dust started piling up. The zombies dont shatter. Only the bosses do.

I almost fell asleep watching episode 2 of the new season Two episodes that are complete fillers. No battles, no palace intrigues, no backstabbing, no violence. By the way, how old is Arya in the show? Is it underage sex?

Yeah, I was surprised she's only a year younger than Sansa's actress. The difference in the books was much bigger.

I was surprised by the negative reaction to that scene honestly. For thrones it was positively tame. I mean we get raunchier scenes with Emilia Clarke when she was just STANDING and doing nothing else in particular.

We didn't watch Emilia Clarke pretty much grow up on screen: That adds a weirdness factor any nude scene, enough to make it rather uncomfortable.

Dany can't exactly write off her father. Psycho pyromaniac or not, it's only because of him that she's got any legitimacy She doesn't have to write him off, but the fact of the matter is, she's never really met the guy. And what she knows of him paints him as one of the greatest monsters in a history already full of great monsters. So to talk with such visceral contempt about Jaime watching the blood pool under Aerys and reminiscing about dreaming up elaborate vengeances upon the man who did that...it rings false. Like she's being angry only because she feels like she's supposed to be angry. Because experience has taught her that that's when she's at her most powerful. I wanted to go back to this because I've been working my way through Vox's essential episodes list, and Dany's first private conversation with Tyrion back in S5 ends up in pretty much the same place as this conversation WRT Aerys . She acknowledges that Aerys was a monster and then gets mad at Tyrion for defending Jaime, for instance. It looks to me like Dany's never organized her thoughts on this subject into any kind of rational structure.

Funny how everyone was drooling over Sansa though and yet we saw her grow up too. ...there isn't much of an age difference between the two either, just over a year. Sophie was born in 96 and 13 in season 1, Maise in 97 and 12 in season 1. Seems kind of silly that people are freaking over the Arya/Gendry scene.

Yeah...but that was a rape scene, of course it got criticized. My point is that by season two, I was starting to see all kinds of lewd comments made towards Sophie turner and by season 3 and 4 a lot of guys were drooling over her and she would've been 15 & 16 years old, but now folks are in a panic over a scene where the actress is 22 and her character is supposed to be 18? Kinda seems like a double standard there. And the Arya scene was only naked bum and side boob. I feel bad for the actor playing Gendry though, he said in an inerview that scene was hard for him because he'd known Maise since she was 12 and he always thought of her as a kid.

Wouldn't the time to be bothered by Arya's plotline be the time when she stabbed a guy's eyes out, stuffed a sock in his mouth to shut him up so she could taunt him for a few minutes, and then slashed his throat? Not that he didn't deserve it, but... yikes.
Edit: speaking of that era of the show, anyone remember that wacky fan theory that the Waif wasn't real? Arya's new weapon is actually not too far from what the Waif liked to use.

You'd think, right? Or how about the first guy she killed, that was just after the Red Wedding and she ran into some of Frey's men on the road with the Hound. She stabbed the guy multiple times in the chest. Feeding Walder Frey a pie with his son in it, then slicing Walder's throat was pretty bad too. She's gone through some serious changes since season 1, and now folks can't wrap their heads around her getting laid? That's kind of silly, I'd be more concerned over how brutal she can be.

I remember the theory that she isn't Arya at all, and that she's the Waif using Arya's face...would that have been why Nymeria didn't want to go with her? ...hmmmm..? ...but wouldn't Bran be able to tell that she isn't Arya then?

Well I can't speak for most people but Arya's time with the faceless men have bothered me far more then the sex scene did. I actually really didn't like Arya during much of season 5-6 and still am leary of her even though she has kind of found her center again.
As far as the stuff between her and Sophie Turner. I think there have been probably a fair few 'men' fantasizing about both women. But there is a huge difference between a private fantasy of a teenager and actually seeing it on screen.
