Archery in DAI is always a good choice. Also, don't forget to set your companions' tactics preferences! They may seem simple in this game at first sight (especially when compared to DA:O), but they are actually quite elaborate and make a hell of a difference. Blackwall and Cassandra make amazing tanks, for instance... when specced properly it is pretty difficult to die at all in their presence.

I had to ditch rogue in the end, it was just frustrating. I went with archery instead. I just try my hands on dual wielding rogue at the moment. It's really hard, but later on, it becomes fun.

Archer and Artificer are a good combo. I once threw down elemental mines and had Bull use grappling chain to pull the enemy through the minefield. Boss went pow-pow-pow and down in 2 seconds. Good times.

I like having the assassin specialization when playing as an archer. It has the hidden blades power. And with hidden blades fade-touched item on the bow it makes for a lot of fun.

That's great to hear! I don't like Artificer except for the mines but I have a mod for that, and I didn't want to make another Tempest archer, but I wasn't sure Assassin would work well with it.

Don't know if you've played trespasser, but here's a video showing the Inquisitor fighting the giant mage at the end on nightmare solo as an archer with the assassin speciaiization
