Hell just invest in rifles and get a half upgraded assault rifle and watch the bodies drop. The ammo is plentiful, the weapon easy to get and it hits fairly hard. I sneaked around most of the time in Deus Ex and just surprised the enemies with my Dragon's Tooth sword. I also used my sniper rifle for the long range targets, GEP gun/LAM/EMP grenades for armed robots. I say the game was 95% sneaking and exploring, and 5% guns blazing.

It's kind of like walking up to a McLaren P1 and asking the owner, "so is this car fast or slow as shit?" Yes. It is a Deus Ex game, so stealth is a large part of the gameplay. In the first Deus Ex you could do legitimate lethal playthroughs and still get 90% of all set EXP. This includes running gun battles, and lethal takedowns and etc. This is due to the fact that combat had very little impact on the EXP you gained, the majority came as it does in HR from exploration and completion of objectives and quests, however in HR its inversed with the majority of exp coming or can come from running around like a ninja on crack cocaine. My point? In the first game you could walk up to a fellow and put a bullet in his brain and still walk away with exp from the mission, you do that in HR though and you get comped like 10 points when non lethal shit grants you 80. The EXP generation in the first game allowed all sorts of play styles, that allow potentially could reward the player. Not the case in HR, not at fucking all. If you wanted even a sliver of EXP you have to basically crawl on your belly the whole game and taze people repeatedly. How do I know this? I have played every game in the franchise besides this one. I mean hell the first game actively discourages from non lethal approaches because it sort of acts like it would in reality, that style is slow, and can potentially backfire at anytime. Thus my question is completely valid. That doesn't surprise me at all. The trend of video games in the last decade or so has been to dumb things down and provide less and less choices for the player, streamlining every aspect of the game. I blame kids and consoles, personally, but whatever, it's a fact. I know it's not a solution, but you could always use something like cheat engine, or a mod, to get you more experience for lethal kills.

After a few hours with Mankind Divided my thoughts so far are: I'm running on ultra settings with MSAA turned off and for the most part it runs pretty well on my PC which is a I7 4930k, 16GB DDR3 RAM, and a Titan. I've had a few framerate drops lasting under a second but it's few and far between. It's also worth noting I'm running a pretty old monitor so my resolution is low which is helping my performance. Gameplay wise I'm playing non lethal stealth, which is pretty much just a more refined version of what Human Revolution had which I'm enjoying since I liked that system well enough. I can't really speak for the combat oriented gameplay since I don't use it. They do however have a few more useful combat oriented augs this time around. I never found the reduced XP in Human Revoluion to matter much with the run and gun approach given that once you had 45% DR you were basically set provided you possessed basic FPS skills and thus didn't need the aim assist augs. HR in general had problems with its augment system when you've got hacking "upgrades" that literally did nothing at all. On top of that the game also throws 10 Praxis points at you very early in the game, so you can get your base build set up pretty much right out of the gate after the opening mission. Thankfully this time around sprinting doesn't consume energy, as that was just stupid in HR. Energy in general is also a little bit easier to manage, with you being able to fully drain your energy and regenerate it to a decent degree. Each activation of an augment lowers your max energy by a preset amount(down to a minimum), and you can use biocells to recharge. This way you can burn all your energy in a single go and not be screwed without consumables, or have to worry about breakpoints of each individual battery like in HR. So I don't have to carry a crate of energy bars around with me then? Thank goodness for that, it gets so old searching for them in HR.

As I continue obsessing over unlocking The Foxiest of the Hounds this time...does anybody know if the "smooth operator" bonus exists in MD? Or is it all rolled into "ghost"? There is a Smooth Operator bonus, yes.

It's just a bit easier to handle as you don't drain down to the minimum with a single use of your abilities or have to worry about battery breakpoints. The biocells also stack in your inventory rather than taking up individual slots.

I just watched a great review of the game. If what he says it true, then I'm really disappointed. I loved HR so much, it's one of my favourite all time games...and it looks like MD just doesn't have the same quality when it comes to the story. And as for the review video, I chose B. Crap.

well having reduced everything to minimum settings but sticking to 1080p I can say nothing visually changes other than frame rate mostly stays above 60, but after about 30 mins of game play things start to suffer opening the tab screen or the v wheel takes seconds, closing them takes longer and bullets stop flying straight.... seems like they didn't code this game very well at all and maybe the dx12 update will fix some of these issues but more n likely it will require something else, oh and it suffers from huge memory leaks, it doesn't tend ot go over 8gb of system ram usage but the page file (mines set to as required size) just builds until it fills all spare hdd capacity (for me that's currently around 1.5TB of drive space) and then it crashes, something it likes to do about every hour....
oh and don't try posting In the steam forums because the devs don't seem to like the idea of memory leaks and lock/delete the threads .....

I'm already on my second playthrough using New Game +. As for the story, I say it still has the quality that Human Revolution had. The issue people seem to be having is it is not as large a scale as Human Revolution. While that complaint is understandable, the bigger story will happen gradually since this is the first game in a trilogy. Other than the scale, the quality is there. There are multiple scenes in the game that got me really emotional since since they could focus on individual people and their stories and did marvelously with it.

I like this game. The only problem is that the facial animations look atrocious, similar to the previous game.
I also liked the HR music a little better.

Yeah, after getting surprisingly smooth performance during the intro mission on the High preset, now that I got to Prague it runs like ass even when I tried turning everything to low and off so it also LOOKS like ass. Getting seemingly random stuttering, sometimes it's when I'm just standing in place and turning the camera around, sometimes it's when I'm opening a menu... Turning off exclusive fullscreen seems to help a bit, but this really needs patching.

For some reason, my mom - who has been less than-enthused, historically, about my video game habit - just took an interest in what I'm currently playing. Asking all sorts of questions. So I just gave my mother a crash course in Deus Ex. I was explaining augs, and she was all like "oh...like the Million Dollar Man?" "Yes! Just like that!" So that was fun.

I enjoyed the game for what it is, even the story, but it feels too much as if they decided halfway during development to just cut the story in half in order to spread it out over a trilogy. Why does it need to be a trilogy? Human Revolution did a great job at creating a story that could have easily been a single game or have a sequel. But now we have a game with an ending that screams sequel, because they want to make more money. Not to mention that most characters were really forgetable. I miss Malik and Pritchard.

I love how one of the achievements is a Ghost in the Shell reference, both because I love that franchise and because how much that franchise had an inspiration on Eidos Montreal. The achievement is titled 'The New is Vast and Infinite' referencing the famous line, and the image is the back of Major Motoko Kusanagi's neck, showing the ports used to connect to cyberspace.

One is the smaller scale one with the terrorist cell that is the standalone story, and also a larger story was having the foundation laid throughout the game both in main quests and side quests. Just like how say Mass Effect 1 had the Saren standalone story but also laid the foundation for the Reaper War and other stories that lasted throughout the trilogy.

A question to the people here who have finished the game: are the side missions time sensitive in relation to the main missions? Can you lose access to them or some possible follow-up missions if you don't do them ASAP before advancing the main story? I'm only heading to investigate the bombing site from the intro sequence now, been doing whatever side missions I've come across and a ton of breaking into apartments and crawling through vents. I'm just starting to feel like concentrating on advancing the main story for a while, but I'm paranoid that I'll miss something

That only happens a few times and each time you get a warning saying that if you start this mission all unfinished stuff will be cut off. So no need to worry about accidentally doing that.

I had another dude disappear on me as soon as I knocked him out, but being indoor I didn't catch what actually happened. Yesterday while streaming I did it again and noticed the guy just shoot off into low Earth orbit (if the link doesn't work, skip to 45:40). By the way, the background music in Prague feels a lot like the one at the UNATCO HQ in Deus Ex.

I watched a few PTs streaming of it. The graphics are really good, the gameworld is beautifully rendered. I think that's all I can say of it. I got bored watching long hours of sneaking around, searching through cabinets, safes, vaults. The only funny stuff was when the player threw the sleeping bodies about and boxes everywhere to get the attention of the nearby guard. Still, it breaks immersion when the protag knocked out a cop with his partner standing not three meters away; is he deaf?
Additionally, the lip sync is off and body animations stiff during dialogues. Voice acting doesn't catch my attention either. I have no idea what the story is about other than secret bad organization about to do something bad and protag has to do something though most of the time, he's doing side missions that involved a lot of climbing, hopping, searching, breaking in, KOs, killings if the player feels like it. Hours of it. None of the chars in it is interesting. I supposed the protag has a personality, I just didn't see it.
