I was able to chuck in the bouquet from the Hans+bathhouse quest for Teresa as present after romance, but nothing else. She just wanted Hal for the sex. Lol. Some gifts are actually fairly cheap, like certain dresses. Personally I'm not feeling strapped for cash. Killing bandits and looting them + poaching seems sufficient so far. I'm not even level 8 and I already have 7k in groschen. The economy is messy to say the least.

There should be inflation at some point, probably.

For those who are further in the main story - when is a good time to take it easy and just do sidequests? I'm trying to mix it, but I'm often supposed to meet with another NPC on certain hour or daytime (and I suspect there might be negative consequences if I don't show up at least until tommorow), but I feel I might lose some content before I finish the main storyline. Once nobody tells you to hurry or meet them somewhere at a certain time. For more precision, you'll be sent to do a solo investigation at some point (which is still early in the main quest) and that is a good spot to, hmm, investigate other things.

Just wondering how many of the side quests are worth doing? Most of the ones I have done so far aren't particularly interesting and at worse are a pain in the anus and generally don't have much of a payoff beyond a small amount of coin that is less than what you would get for selling a decent pair of stolen pants. It is mostly "ride around till you find my stolen horse", "bring me boar meat", "go back and forth between a dozen villagers who barely have anything useful to say at all".

Alrighty, I think I'm going to give this game a rest while waiting for further patches.
I'm on PS4 Pro, and this thing is a glitch bonanza, which is further aggravated by the ridiculous save system.

Is it just me, or does lockpicking really suck?
I mean on the surface it looks kinda like Fallout's, but I can't for the life of me manipulate pick and lock at the same time and just end up with broken lockpicks.

Got to an annoying part in the game. Had to escape from somewhere by jumping over wooden battlements. Found a convenient ten inch wide hole in the fortification. Unfortunately, ten inches are not enough for Henry and he requires two meter sized hole that I have afterwards used myself...

I mean on the surface it looks kinda like Fallout's, but I can't for the life of me manipulate pick and lock at the same time and just end up with broken lockpicks. It's a bit fiddly, but with Kb&M it's manageable. Are you on PC? The idea is to simply press D to move the lock, and keep the pick with the mouse at the angle that makes it golden. The fiddly part is the mouse, the other requires nothing more than simply pressing D. Of course, there's always the option of using a mod, I'm fairly sure that there's already a few different ones. (either to completely make it trivial, or make it somewhat easier) I'm on a PC, and I'll try that trick next time I have a lock to pick (and I have lockpicks again) First, I've gotta get out of town alive.

I wish there're more hints on the rep rating.
I've been reading that killing bandits, giving alms* would raise rep with guards. Helping villagers would raise rep with them.
One streamer raised a good point about rep. It's that players have no idea what was it they had done that dropped rep. It should have been shown clearly; a list.
* I tried giving alms to beggars but there's no dialogue option to do that. I did donate a pair of shoes to a pilgrim outside Rattay so I have no idea if that raised rep.

I'm not liking horses so far.
THe tutorial says they're smart and will stay on roads.
Incorrect.
My horse keeps running off the road and getting hung up on stuff, and since I'm stuck in first person mode I CANT SEE WHAT I'M STUCK ON!!! and I get slaughtered.
I've saved Theresa three times so far and distracting the guards has been the EASY part!

I've saved Theresa three times so far and distracting the guards has been the EASY part! You're at the start since you mentioned saving Theresa and yes, that part can be annoying / frustrating since you're immediately thrown onto the saddle and expected to gallop straight away. I attempted that section six times, I think because I was trying to control the horse all at once with directional keys and shift (not holding it down). Most of the time, my POV wasn't align properly with the horse's head once I jumped on so I found myself going in a direction I did not want. As Serza said, just hold shift and nothing else. The horse will align automatically with the road and begin to canter. Just give it a second or two. Once align, you can take control. Just keep holding shift and use directional keys. If you don't want to take control, don't let go of the shift and don't press any directional keys. Double tap shift to gallop.

I did at least 10 times, trying various things. Couldn't bring the horse to gallop with the default keybind. I figured sprint would be used for foot and horse so I mapped it on thumb button 1. Blocking is Thumb button 2. Since then, it controls like a breeze and that scene was complete in one further attempt. Was the same for Witcher controls, default were utter shit - custom was like hot knife through butter.

You guys probably already know this but I only just figured out that you can train with Captain Bernard with practice weapons to easily level up all your weapon skills and strength and vitality, makes your skills go up real quick.
One thing I don't get is what is the difference between the shortsword and the longsword? I just noticed that the longsword and short sword have different combos but in what situations would a shortsword, hunting sword or curved sword be better?
Also I get that the mace is good against armour but what are the axe and halberd for?

Axes have more weight behind them than swords but have a cutting edge.
They're the middle man between swords and maces. Halberds are specialized anti-cavalry infantry weapons. Thus they have greater reach.
Longsword and shortsword are mainly different in their length. A good example of a shortsword are the Roman Gladii. In the game, you can also see "long knives" which is apparently an alternative name for some shortswords.

Most of the longswords I have seen seem to do better damage and with the bonus reach I am not sure why anyone would use a shortsword other than having nothing better to use at the time and I certainly dont see why they would spend their sword talents on shortsword combos.

So I wrote a preview for the game for the site I contribute to.
It's a...cautiously optimistic preview, but I must admit the further I go into the game the more and more I am starting to be soured by the games design. That said, it's still a game I am enjoying, its a weird juxtaposition to be in to look at it like that.
Once it is posted I will share it, it's my current thoughts on the game though, and right now ive gone through the questline after the priest in Ushlitz at this time.
Going to go farther in a bit, see if we can get to a major boss battle that it's building up to.

I've been very excited to play this game since it was announced, but I think it's best to wait for them to stabilize the game better because of these bugs.
And I leave a question, is there no way to customize the character in terms of physical appearance?
