Do you suppose that female elven character was the original concept for the design of Sera? She is clearly not Dalish and does have a bow in the first picture. The hair style would have to have been abandoned seeing as with Frostbite there are no braids/plaits on offer, so Sera could have been what resulted from an overhaul of her design. Still I wouldn't object to having a companion like her so long as she was happy identifying as an elf and preferably able to be romanced by a male elf (assuming we are still allowed different races in the next game). I thought the same thing. Actually a lot of the concept art looks a lot more like a traditional dark fantasy. But it seems a lot of what actually gets produced gets really watered down. I wonder if the people who originally conceptualize some of these characters ever get frustrated at the final result... The character pictured looks amazing. Sera was... probably BioWare's worst character they've ever created in any of their IPs...

I'd like the idea of your barbarian warrior, she sounds awesome. I'd like to see a Riviani Seer, female dwarf, female Quanri, maybe a male elven warrior...

I made a thread about this character on the old bsn forums once and a dev actually responded. They basically said something along the lines of: this character doesn't exist and just represents an archetype P.s. in the first picture she doesn't have a braid, and her hair is short. Although I'm a fan of the braid.

Cool to know. I would love to meet that elf. I would love to play the game in those pictures, but I think Inquisition was a little more "bright".
That concept art looks more like Origins than Inquisition. Look at the blood spatter on the shield and the Qunari. Too bad we got the more PG version.

I think it is possible for her to be in a game since the other characters in the background of the first pic eventually became blackwall and the iron bull. Got my fingers crossed

I'd like a female Tal-Vashoth Sareebas as our healer character. I just like the image of someone trained for the utterly destructive Sareebas magic we've seen before reforming and turning to the gentler side of magic.
Would also be a good change from the two other Qunari we've had.

I want a fierce, mysterious, vicious, minx of an elf hunter. In DA2 and DAI there was early concept art of this character. (she has been re-iterated multiple times) I've always loved the way this character looks and really want to see her become realized. I imagine her as being a renegade type that doesn't often say anything, but when she does it is always with impact. She reminds me a little of the Dalish assassin who showed up threatening the ex werewolf in DA2.

Ashe warrior. They were introduced in Origins and we haven't seen any sense. Female qunari....simply long overdue for one. A Fex companion. Recall how Bioware hyped up this race during DA2 development, and then we never saw one and rhey simply stopped talking about them. We still don't even know what the fuck they look like. Why create a new race, get fans hype about this race, then never mention them again?

Well if the assumption that we are going to be in the midst of Tevinter/Qunari machinations is true that would likely require 1) A viewpoint supporting the Tevinter status quo especially if there's going to be the likes of Dorian/Maevaris spouting their new agenda. Perhaps a former slave become Laetan. 2) Assume we'll need a qunari viewpoint, perhaps a female Tal-vashoth. Though they could perhaps lasso back in someone like Tallis. 3) Given how close we are to Seheron, perhaps a male Fog Warrior, who was made an outcast and has turned mercenary 4) I'd like to see a rivaini seer 5) A beautiful female elf rogue, hopefully turns out to be one of Solas' spies Some version of these + Scout Harding = Happiness.

About 1): Dorian/Maevaris do support the status quo. All they object to is the covert use of blood magic and the corruption in the political system. They don't actually want to change the set up from what it is at present. Dorian DEFENDED slavery for goodness sake. He wants to save Tevinter not change it radically.
Now Calpernia, that was someone who really wanted to change things from the current status quo. She just hitched her wagon to the wrong person initially. She wanted a genuine meritocracy, where the truly gifted rise to the top regardless of their birth/race/status in life. If she survived, and there is good reason to think she did from WoT2, then she would make for a very interesting companion, or else someone with a similar viewpoint.
However, I do agree that a former slave or Laetan mage would give a different perspective on things from the Altus we have previously encountered even if they didn't want to radically change the system.

Truth be told, I'd love to have Nathanial Howe back as a companion/romance interest.
Other companions:
Avvar warrior
Dwarven female

Already some good suggestions. I'd put forth an Orth in place of an Avvar. Just for something different.

I'd like a good-looking, romanceable male Altus mage who moonlights in an anti-slavery organisation. Perhaps Fenris works with him. I know we already had Dorian in DAI, but he didn't care much about the plight of slaves. As had been mentioned before, it would be nice to see a "traditionally good" mage; I'm getting a little tired of how mages are vilified in Thedas.

Maybe a Tranquil companion? Although I'm not sure what amount of fighting he would be able to do. Nor if it would be revelant given the context of the game.
Yet It would be fun to somehow free the lad from Tranquility in his "loyalty" quest, only to discover that he actually was a terrible person.
You spend a good part of the game getting used to the Tranquil behaviour. Learn to enjoy his harmless presence.
Then betrayal, and bad consequences for an act you thought to be good.
(betrayal/identity shift from an unsuspected source has already been done though)

I'd like an Orlesian chevalier. Male or female, doesn't matter, but someone with shiny gold lions on their armour! I'd nominate Michel de Chevin, but I think it was possible for him to die (not that that stopped Leliana coming back).

I'd like to see a priest or Templar of the Imperial Chantry, who genuinely believes in its doctrine. Everything we've heard about it makes it sound like the 'fake' Chantry, like it's a knockoff of the Orlesian Chantry (even though the opposite is the case, there's been a Chantry in Tevinter since before Orlais was founded), so I want to see how they view themselves. Preferably this person would come from the lower end of the social spectrum, so it would be someone who joined out of real faith.

I really want another animal companion. But I don't want a mabari, they've already been in two games. I am holding out for a griffin at some point. Would be happy with a wyvern, big cat, or some other mythical creature

What about Charade from DA2? She could tells us about her wonderful father, Gamlen. Talk about her cousin, Hawke. Even comments about the companions Hawke hangs out with.

Everybody is focused on dwarf romances but we haven't gotten a proper Dalish or City Elf LI. Zevran was good but he is raised as a kinda human. Merill was creepy and an outcast. Sera is Sera Solas is an ancient demigod. I want someone like Arianne in the next game.

I would not mind a return of Fenris, Fog Warrior, Dwarves of either gender who are NOT Varic, and a liberated Qunari Mage.
Above all, I want a SMALL cast, with content tied into the game as much as possible and NOT bland. After DAI, I don't really think I am interested in romantic content, so just want interesting crew. And, if at all possible, as many as possible of the old companions to be eliminated, because continue to forcing them in the new plots is just getting silly.
And I want to be able to play a Qunari.

What would be interesting is a Vashoth apprentice to a very eccentric Magister, or a Saarebas who who was rescued by Imperial forces and is happy about it. I want to know how Tal-Vashoth and Vashoth fit into Imperial society or have been able to make themselves fit.

I think a follower similar to professor Kenric would be really neat. Someone who is brilliant about a very specific subject but completely oblivious in almost every other way. It could make for some very funny moments, especially if they are also a romance. I suppose they could be any class, but mage seems to be most suitable. Merrill was sort of like this so maybe a male this time.

Bumppersonally this is my guess so far... [Mage] - Dorian or new Mage character
- Maevaris
- Finn
- Feynriel (although may be too powerful to be a party member)
[Rogue] - Isabela
- Tessa
- Tallis or New Rogue character
- Harding
[Warrior] - Marius
- Evangeline
- Fenris or New Warrior Character
- Crem
