To sum up my opinion of the Keep briefly and in an understatement of a century manner would be to say, I cannot understand shit and the internet guides are not helping. Therefore, help is most appreciated. All the way somewhere in July, I've created a world slate. For the life of me I can't remember how I got it done, but I'm pretty sure instead of transferring one of my Wardens, it just gave me a default guy, ex dwarf commoner but not mine. I had to go through the tapestry and change it. Anyway. I'm done with that game. I tried to make a new world slate. I have two main questions. 1. How do I transfer my DAO, DAA, DA2 saves into Inq, not the damn default characters but mine. 2. I tried making a 2nd world slate. I'm assuming I need to click 'load another world slate' button - screenshot below. When I click, it says this will overwrite my previous world slate. I don't want to overwrite/erase my previous world slate! I've spent hours trying to make it! I want to move my 1st world slate to an non-functioning slot and then load a new world slate into the active slot. How do I do that? The 2nd screenshot below shows editable states. I'm assuming the slate on the left that's sticking out is the active one the game will use if I make a new character. I tried dragging it to another slot, but while I can drag it all over the screen, it won't stick into another slot. Anyway OMG WTF HELP. Oh yea, I'm using PC.

From what I remember on pc by some reason gods know why older DAO games do not import into it. So you will have to create it from scratch.
The new world state can be created from that tiny page sign in the upper left corner.
Whichever one is loaded in the keep is the one that you can import when starting a new game of Inquisition. You cannot reload it for a game in progress, only at creation of your character.

1. You should be able to find your characters in the "Heroes" section. If you can't, don't worry: just use default characters and manually edit their names, it won't make any difference. It should also be noted that your DAO, DAA and DA2 decisions cannot be exported into the Keep, so you'll have to manually set your choices if you wish to import a World State into DAI.
2. Go to the editable states section and click on one of the "empty slot" boxes, than click on "Load in the Keep".
Remember to export your World State to DAI once you're done!

When I create a new character it doesn't give me a choice of world slates, it just asks if I want to import and loads Maker knows what.

The wee page sign on the left. Then World States. Then Plus Sign for a new one. Then tap the image it generate as the New World State 1. Then Rename and edit each part?

Where is the Hero section? Let me get this right. DAI only has my warden's/hawk's face but I have to re-create every single decision by hand (and it may not even have my warden's face?) 2. So: I click on the empty box and click 'load in the keep' that will make it 'default state' so my 1st world slate doesn't get erased and THEN go to the load world slate button?

I think I started a new slate. This one flagged a second box. I found the Hero section, but I don't understand how to add the hero to the 2nd world slate. It lets me find my hero, but when I exit this screen and click on the world slate, it shows a default hero again.

If you go to the Tapestry section you should be able to edit your heroes.
Yes, DAO, DAA And DA2 decisions are not imported and you need to set everything manually, unfortunately.

You can edit which hero you want in the Tapestry. So just load your second world state there into the Keep and then hit edit in Tapestry. There you can click on the tiles and choose what Warden and Hawke you want plus all the other decisions you made in DA:O and DA2 ( and even the ones for DAI)

If we're creating a new Inquisitor, how can there be choices for them since we haven't have those choices yet.

This is so odd. If we're creating a new Inquisitor, how can there be choices for them since we haven't have those choices yet. I'm sure that section is for future titles, like DA4. As it has no bearing on DAI.

Good luck! It took me a while to beat it into submission and my first PT I did not realize it did not load the game quests by default, you gotta edit them manually, so I was taken by surprise that my Revel apparently executed Anders when Revel was more of a: "Seriously, Anders, why did not you tell me? I would have hold the matches for you, my love!"

the custom heroes can be updated to the keep, but this app (to call it something) it's one of the worst shits ever made. it's amusing they even trashed the classic save import.
if you are on pc, log in (correction made) with the same account in DAO and in DA2 too, load a game save, unequip any item, save, equip the item again, and save, and after long and long hours, you will have your custom hero updated in the keep. (though even can take a couple of days also this thing is very bad and buggy.)
i say this if you want to try it, but as the other posters had said, you will end sooner with a default hero, just change his name, and upload an image too if you want, for the hero you choosed.

warden-Commander It's very tempting to just go meh and load default as even after sort of figuring out which menu to use setting all those detail takes time. What is an 'open session' and why do we need to make our Wardens nakkid for it? The weird part being how all internet guides send me to create world slate to the right side button. Good thing you guys told me to go to the left menu, LEFT!

Don't forget that when all the editing is done you must export this new world state to the game. (Button on the right). Otherwise you end up with your previous world state (or their default one if you haven't yet created one).
I found it annoying that you only discover something is wrong with your world state after playing the prologue and getting to Haven, usually by talking with Varric and having him fill you in on what your Hawke was like. It was really annoying my first ever run that I only discovered I hadn't imported my world state correctly when I spoke to him. So then I had to go back, check what I had done wrong and then create my Inquisitor all over again. I was not a happy bunny.

What you have to do is when you start to play Dragon Age Origins or Dragon Age 2, in the main menu, there is an option to log in with your account, do it. (the one you made for the keep) What that does is, update your Warden or Hawke information to their servers, and then they appear in the Keep, but it takes a while to do it, to much sometimes to be honest. But, regardless, the only difference is, as custom heroes, they already come with the personal name and the portrait avatar, with the current aspect your warden or hawke has, nothing more. (You can do this process manually with a default hero as many stated above.) Decisions have to be done in the tapestry section anyways.

So, the button 'load this into keep' does not auto set this world slate for the game. Then we need that button which I was attempting to click in the first place. When I choose that right button, it says that it will delete the current world slate. This does not effect those scenarios I've been creating in the squares right? I'll keep both 1st and 2nd box content in the keep. I actually liked Origins character maker more than Inq even though it's better graphics/more advanced. (and the hair is terrible everywhere )

Well, there were good reasons for save imports to be off their to-do list. Some DA:O data wasn't tracked properly in the saves for anyone, and it looks like a plurality of players were going to lose their saves anyway thanks to the console generation switch.
