I actually liked DA:I Corypheus more because he was just an evil bastard... Same. I only wish he was utilized a bit more. I didn't mind that we had to content with his minions, but I do wish he was a greater background presence, if that makes sense. It's also a shame that only players who take the templar path get additional insight.

I thought Trespasser was great. However, I can see how someone might not like it as much if they didn't find Solas an interesting companion. For me DA:I Corypheus was generic and boring, so I was happy to get a more personal and engaging antagonist. I also like linear games, so for me that was not an issue. I only like open world games if they have a big enough budget to do quests well. Otherwise, the open world part drags down the game for me.

I like both Solas and the linear games, but do not like Trespasser, because I did not understand the plot (Qunari? Blowing up the Palace in Orlais? Ancient Elves? what's the connection?); what happens to your character (just HATED it!!!!) & the LI, the Inquisition (the guilt-tripping was strong...). I did not feel that the areas were linear, rather arranged as some sort of a hard to get through maze which was frustrating. Descent is my kind of linear, point A to Point B, no searching around to what connects to what...

I just beat it for the 2nd time last night with my male inquisitor. I had done it a couple of years ago with my main female one and it was as good, if not better than the first time. (I lost Bull to the Qun my first run). It has big stakes, incredible music and an interesting story as an epilogue. I'm pumped for DA4 if they ever make it.

The only thing I hated was that I couldn't make my female Elf Inquisitor go with Solas and tear down the Veil together.

Road apples. Lore is lore and should never change. What CAN change is our understanding of it. our knowledge may be incomplete, our character maybe misled, or some sort of exception to a generally known rule is found. When a detective in a murder mystery realizes halfway through a story that he's been perusing the wrong suspect, the lore behind the setting didn't suddenly change to accommodate a different killer (at least I hope not, as that would be REALLY cr*ppy writing) The clues were still there to lead the detective astray, he just gains a better understanding of what's going on. My understanding is that the DA team has what they call "deep lore" which is "the truth" about Thedas' history. They don't reveal all of it except in tiny drips, but the games are all written with that lore in mind, to maintain continuity.

The only reason to be upset about any lore "changes" is if you blindly assumed that the first thing you heard was the truth.
Also, anyone who is surprised that a "god" turned out to just be some guy is obviously not playing enough JRPGs.

About the only things I didn't like about it were some of the abrupt scene cuts when you're spending time with the old crew before the council. It made me feel like I was missing content, and there was never a grand scene where everyone is together. Would it have hurt to have the gang all in the bar in the same time for a minute or two? Also, I would have liked more dialog with the council rather than running out of the first meeting only to make the decision on the future of the Inquisition without any more interaction at the end.

Trespasser was fantastic, I don't think a Dragon Age DLC has given me these kind of feels before. Plus I really liked some of the level designs, the character development was great, also the fate of Iron Bull was a great touch. Some of the tender moments were really good. I thought it was one of the best DLC's Bioware has put out.

I don't think that's actually a disagreement with the substance of the article. It looks like the author is using "lore" to mean the public face of the lore.
