Omg like...are you telling me shutting down the BSN because it was the home of toxic fans and turning to social media and other platforms did not work? Maybe because the criticism was WARRANTED? Hostile replies to DEV story writers, programmers, and art designers aren't warranted. They largely don't control timelines or the quality of the final product. So, yeah, being overly hostile the them is not helpful, and BSN was toxic, and it was probably a good idea to shut it down. As others have mentioned, why support a platform with a community that just craps on your products and talks about how great other games are?

As others have mentioned, why support a platform with a community that just craps on your products and talks about how great other games are? You're not being serious, are you? For starters if the BSN was TAXIC, then what on Earth is reddit even? Twitter isn't any better. All the opposite nowadays with all the fake wokeness and The warriors of justice. EA recently published some BS image-poll-thing about "inclusivity" which quite literally no one gave a damn about, to give you an idea. Paradox forums are FAR worse than Prime BSN ever was, yet the devs know that it's their obligation as a company to have a sense of responsability and at the very least host a place where people can show their support or not for their products. It's not like the only thing happening in a forum is users bashing the devs, you're just looking at the bad side. Where should they direct their complaints? quite literally it is stated that you should direct them at the devs. The publisher doesn't give a damn, and Bioware Corp has no face, you can't actually talk with "Bioware" as a company. As for hostile, well fuck. We are all tired of their bullshit as I've said before, this isn't particularly a new issue, it's a recurrent one. If they don't like when people complain about their inferior products after having to pay the premium, perhaps they should change their jobs.

Where on earth did you get the idea that I meant "stuff"to include false advertising? I'd answer the post, but it seems to be so divorced from reality that I'm not sure it's worthwhile to bother. <blink blink> First argument I've ever won with you. Lol. Interesting definition of victory. But what the hell -- it's kind of boring anyway, so if you want to claim this one, go ahead. I can live with having no idea what your point was supposed to be.

For starters if the BSN was TAXIC, then what on Earth is reddit even? Twitter isn't any better. The difference is that Bio isn't paying for the toxicity, and can ignore them at will. In practice this is not a very useful distinction, since they don't seem to feel like they're actually able to ignore Reddit. Twitter's different since it's good for one-way communication.

Just stumbled upon this on the Origin Store: It strikes me as odd that they seem to be promoting their Origin Access programs rather than encouraging people to buy the actual game. How do OA subscriptions count towards sales totals, if they count at all? In fact, why limit it to the OA programs at all? Why not state, "Play Anthem between these dates and get X reward" instead? It's possible there'll be similar rewards for OA members in the coming months, but I found the dates suggestive. Companies will take recurring revenue over one time payments any day. Once you start a game like Anthem, you have to keep the service. If Anthem is a multi year plan with content being given out piecemeal, once you have the service more than five months EA is making money on you. Then if you decide you're not playing anything but Anthem and don't want to pay for the service, you have to buy Anthem anyway to keep your character. You have people that wil sign up, forget they have it and keep auto renewing for another month or year. People who may say Anthem LOD edition is $80,one year of the service is $100, I may as well just pay the extra $20 because I'll probably play some other games, but they never do. Then they're stuck with the service just to keep playing Anthem. On the other hand you have people like me, where since I was very iffy on Anthem instead of paying 80 BeaverBux I decided to go in $25 CAD for Origin Premiere, played through Anthem and realized it was garbo in the first two weeks, played Titanfall 2 for that amazing campaign, then cancelled Origin and felt like they saved me almost 60 bucks. I'd be very interested to see the number of Access cancellations in the first month of Anthem.

Well obviously the idea is to release something people want to play. But even still, if you were on the fence, you definitely would not have bought it after the reviews and reading the forums. So they still got more money out of you than they would have otherwise. Also, if they do fix the game, even if it's some remade version like FF XIV. All the people that cancelled will have to come back and re-subscribe, or buy the game outright, which means they would have spent $95 on it instead of $80.
They may lose money on people like me. I play Madden and FIFA every year, so I'd gladly pay $100 as opposed to $120. Anything on top of that is gravy.

It's just that Paradox games has a tendency to attract various sorts of nationalists etc, and what that can lead to on a forum should be obvious enough.

Personally, I think it was because the lack of toolsets forced everyone into the role of asking for stuff. The toxic part happened because the most demanding part of the community kept trying to convince everyone else who was satisfied that, no, what you got is crap and you need to demand more. A variation on that was: "You, player that picked something else, need to pick Destroy."

Sorry should have been more clear: when I meant iffy on it, I meant skeptical and unsure of how good it would turn out. I would have bought it otherwise. Before reviews come out, because even if it turned out to be a shitshow I wanted front row seats. So Origin cost them 60 bucks for sure in my case.

Having played 10 hours of Anthem and then jumping into The Division 2, the differences in these two games are enormous. I will never again take for granted the ability to change my inventory whenever I like, or to simply place a waypoint on the map. These two long-standard mechanics are not possible in Anthem. No, I’m not joking.
Games are, by design, the same loop repeated over and over. The trick is how well the developers manage to hide this repetition. In a game like Anthem, this repetition is obvious. Games are, by design, the same loop repeated over and over. The trick is how well the developers manage to hide this repetition. In a game like Anthem, this repetition is obvious. In The Division 2, it’s done extremely well. This is golden. I've heard that before and it's absolutely true. There's no two ways about it, every game is repetitive, every quest. At core, everything is a fetch quest no matter if it's in Witcher 3 or in Skyrim. But the trick is fooling (in the good sense of the word) players to think it's not, that's how you differentiate a great game of a mediocre one. Just like food it's fucking food, it fills you, done. However be creative about it, work hard in your cooking and you have a spectacular meal. Both serve the same purpose, but the later tastes way better.

Of course some writers made dumbass comments that made them REALLY step into it (I wish we could remove the gameplay entirely) with no qualifiers ....or just extremely racist ones (you know who I am referring to) but none of that started until ME3 and DA2...gee I wonder why I remember crap starting in ME2. Personally, I think it was because the lack of toolsets forced everyone into the role of asking for stuff. The toxic part happened because the most demanding part of the community kept trying to convince everyone else who was satisfied that, no, what you got is crap and you need to demand more. A variation on that was: "You, player that picked something else, need to pick Destroy." Its true, you need to pick Destroy. And really if you are not going to delete data like the Reapers on the way to real errors, what are you even doing?

I’m a skeptic but I don’t see the issue there. Fun frequently is divorced from objective measures. Is commando a technically good movie, probably not. But it’s the greatest movie of all time. Remember, Sully, when I promised to kill you last? I LIED!! I legit think it has the best one liners in movie history. Don't disturb my friend he is dead tired.

absolute certainty that they closed the forum because they knew that Andromeda was the mess it was.

It's always interesting reading "arguments" from Anthem defense brigade..."muh fun, more fun"! When actual "haters"..ahem, critics..go into detail on why leveling, progression, AI and enemy feedback, mission design and so on, are poorly designed. I’m a skeptic but I don’t see the issue there. Fun frequently is divorced from objective measures. Is commando a technically good movie, probably not. But it’s the greatest movie of all time.
Hm... Players who experience no fun and grinding frustration drop out and go elsewhere (ie: = D2). This game has too many frustrations and therefore anti Bio goal of keeping gamers playing for the next 10 years.
Simple questions. Why do people play? Does Anthem (exclude the fanboys) provide that escape fun? What's frustrating about the game?
