Many people love the Human Sentinel, but I don’t count myself among them. I prefer the mobility provided by the Asari Sentinel's Backlash and 100 evade DR to the Human's stationary Barricade and no evade DR. I wanted to get this Platinum Solo done with as quickly as possible, but objective RNG had other plans. My first three attempts ended with Wave 6 Hacks or Uploads. The next day, I got four consecutive Wave 2 Hacks. I even failed a Devices objective when I tried to deploy a barricade with no power cells left (use those ammo packs!). So, when the Platinum daily mission appeared the other day with the Go For the Eyes mission modifier (200% weak point bonus but with -50% weapon damage) on Firebase Sandstorm against Kett, I jumped at the chance to finish this solo. My very first Platinum solo (using the Human Juggernaut) was done this way. If you’re looking to complete one yourself, this is the map, faction, and modifiers to do it on. Objectives: Devices / Retrieval / Boss Gameplay notes and build: goo.gl/NdL7cY- Throw: 4A 5A 6B
- Barricade: 1 point
- Energy Drain: 4B 5A 6B
- Weapon Training: 4A 5B 6A
- Tech Armor: 4A 5A 6A
- Shorty Siphon I
- Dhan Concussive VII
- Multicapacitor
- Shotgun Rail Amp IV
- Universal Power Amp IV
I had specced and re-specced the Human Sentinel many times to find a play style that suited me. I tried the Electric Barricade and the Regeneration Barricade, but I found the utility not worth spending all the way to Rank 6. In my previous attempts, I was playing the Sentinel as a combo detonator with elemental ammo, Throw, and Energy Drain. Because of the modifiers on this mission, I relied more on the Shorty. With a Shotgun Rail Amp IV (+40%) and a Universal Power Amp IV (+20%), I compensated for the negative -50% weapon damage modifier. A 10% boost to my Shorty Siphon I and my Dhan Concussive VII along with the massive weak point bonus meant enemies were dropping very quickly. The Dhan was especially powerful, but I miss a lot with that weapon in the heat of battle, so I stuck primarily with the Shorty. I didn’t even have to use my customary Cobra RPG to take out the Blaze Hydra’s targeting eye on Wave 5. Such is the power of the 200% weak point damage modifier!

I'm curious if the double combo with ed + throw doesn't work on your platform?
On PC you can time throw and ed to hit simultaneously vs health and/or shields/barriers by leading off with throw and then using ED just as throw hits to generate both a tech burst as well as a biotic combo simultaneously. It deals substantially more damage than the straight ed -> throw combo.

There was a bigger than expected explosion where everything went flying. I normally don’t do this combination in this order, however, so it wasn’t something that I consciously tried to do on my later attempts.

I normally don’t do this combination in this order, however, so it wasn’t something that I consciously tried to do on my later attempts. Gotcha. I probably shouldn't be trying to dispense advice to you as I have never attempted a plat solo and you are clearly better than me by a wide margin but feel free to play around with it. A high level player like you can probably get a lot of mileage out of it. It takes a bit of practice to master due to the flight time of throw and has some limitations: - Things directly in your face are too close because throw will land before ed can possibly land (so in these cases just lead off with whichever primer you feel is best for the scenario). - Doesn't work at all vs armor. But that said if the target is in range to pull the combo off it's more effective 100% of the time. With practice you will never miss at varying ranges as you learn how to time ED based on the distance and throw flight time. Lastly i noticed you missed a few throws because you'd lead off with ED but then had to retreat, like jump off the roof or similar and couldn't get throw off in time (throw projectile hit the environment instead of the target). Throw -> ed is a lot more tolerant of situations like this because ED penetrates environmental objects. Around 7:30 is one example, you lead off with ed on an ascendent but the throw hit the wall. Throw then ed would have yielded a biotic detonation and still netting the ED shield boost which I'm guessing was your main priority. Not that this would have changed the outcome but if there's 3 or 4 times per match throw gets blocked it can just help make for a smoother ride if that happens less often.

Yeah, the Throw fails happened more when I was jumping off the roof and trying to get a combo off before I retreated. I could have hovered in the air to ensure Throw worked, but I ran the risk of getting dropped by an Anointed or Observer combo.
Next time I play the Sentinel (probably the Asari one since I think I'm done with the Human Sentinel), I'll try out the Throw-ED combo instead of the ED-Throw combo. Thanks for the suggestion and explanation!
