Just wondering what you folks are making of the discussions and the game. EDIT: Added Warframe as it seemed a bit mean not to.

I played a little bit of destiny and got to the end of destiny 2. If bioware learns from the mistakes bungie made I will be more than happy with this game.

Played destiny 1 for a bit years ago and except for the gunplay mechanics ,which i do not think bioware will be able to top, Anthem looks like it's everything that destiny 1 should have been and it wasn't.

A The Division player who spent 1000+α hours. Division is like, realistic(kinda, since the game based on real NY map) post apocalypse super secret agents TPS gun shooting game with Diablo-like RPG system. 95% of gaming can be done pure solo but real fun comes from 4 man full team play. There's some class system just like other rpg games but basically it is gun shooting game. PVP is also part of the game but you can totally avoid it if you want. All gears and guns can be collected by just playing PvE. According to rumors, Washington, D.C. gonna be The Division 2's playground. Also the game's basic play style will be still 4 man party play with class system. Division 2 and Anthem both will out next year spring... very pleasant news as a RPG gamer, but also kinda worrying fact as a fan of both studio.

I've got almost 2000 hours in The Division. Maybe 400 or so in Destiny 2.
I'm looking forward to Anthem more than anything else.

I played both Destiny games. I liked them, but the storytelling has always been quite lackluster. Hopefully Anthem can succeed in that area.

Former Destiny 1, stopped playing before House of Wolves dropped, so missed The Taken King, etc. Things I like that have been promised for Anthem over Destiny: - Fort Tarsis/Normandy...er, Strider as a personal story instance instead of a hub. The Destiny Hub was annoying af and I spent as little time there as I could get away with.
- Separate progressions for pilot and suits, yeah! Not to mention separate suits, instead of being locked into a class.
- Real flying instead of just super long jumps
- Matchmaking/LFG integrated with the map view -- D1 sort of had this, but it was more about events than people.
- No health regen -- though it's not that I didn't like it in D1; D1 had a sniper role and regen works better for playing a sniper. It suggests that, like Doom, you can't hang back forever and have to get close enough enemies to get some healing, promoting risk taking.
Things I liked about D1 that I haven't heard Anthem mention or they already denied: - Free-form, drop-in public events -- Anthem may have this, but I didn't hear it called out specifically. They did mention something about preferential treatment for people on your friends list, which implies that if you have no friends online (or no friends, lol), that pugs can help out.
- Destiny lore: we weren't told much, but I'm a tad underwhelmed by Anthem's back story. It's basically Defiance terraforming gone berserk with a little Destiny (missing gods) and Halo (Dominion) thrown in.
- You get a ship to fly around in -- though tbh, it was just decoration for a loading screen and a target for mtx.
- Learn by lurking. I learned a lot from higher level players just following them around and watching them play, without having to join a squad or anything. Seems like that won't be as easy in Anthem.

1500 hours on The Division. No Destiny. I also played a huge amount of ME3MP, which is probably why I enjoyed the Division as well. The combat system is similar - in the sense that there is no verticality through jetting around. Did not enjoy MEAMP at all, probably for that reason (gave it about 10 hours before dropping it): the jetting around meant that the synergy between the players was an afterthought (e.g. combos) and occurred more by accident than by design. The feeling of teamplay was kinda lost, where it wasn't in ME3MP or Division.
My 2 cents after watching the press conference:
- I like the idea of a more developed protagonist. The player characters in Division are silent, and have no personality. That's a plus for Anthem. - I am hopeful we will get a good story - it's BioWare, they can up the ante on that one. - No PVP is a shame. It does offer replayability after beating the PVE content. - From what I saw of the gameplay, it looked a lot like MEAMP - huge concern for me, as is the fact that flying around with PC controls is often a bit of a mess.
Overall, not particularly hyped about Anthem, mostly because of my dislike of MEAMP. But will keep an eye on more gameplay footage to make a final decision. I don't think MEAMP was a big success, so do hope that BW have learned from it, although that is not particularly obvious from the footage.

Division player with about 500 hours. My biggest concern with Anthem is the first person POV at the Hub city. It's one thing to have the occasional cutscene from that POV, but if I have to move the character around in first person, I'll get sick - unfortunately. Anthem does sound like it will have a richer story than the Division currently does, though I do like the story elements that the Division does have. Would love it if they fleshed it out further, for the Division 2 (and I really want to stay in NYC ). Final thought - Anthem will be on my radar. I will have to watch some live game play to see if I can "stomach" the hub section.

I played and still play, a lot of destiny (about 2k hours). Thats on a par with the hours I've put into ME3MP. I am less concerned about who makes a game than how good the game is.
Content aside, what makes me keep playing Destiny (both 1 and 2), is the gameplay. It is so damn satisfying to shoot and punch stuff. There is also the social aspect in that you can goof around a bit with randoms without having to talk if you want.
I played the beta of The Division then cancelled my preorder. I found it dull and lacking life/oomph. Not looked at it since tbh, even though I yeard it made a lot of changes.
Anthem looks pretty, and I think my biggest concerns are with gameplay. I worry that it will be so busy looking pretty that there will be no substance to the combat. I want to try before I buy, as I am a bit jaded about it after MEA, which I wasn't a huge fan of (the MP broke my ME3 heart) I hated the jetpacks, so flying had better be less frustrating. I also like to scope in more than I saw on the vids. I want to see the effect of damage. The combo idea sounds interesting, reminded me of me3 complementary powers.
I dunno. I'm on the fence, and unless my main crew I pewpew with are def getting the game, I won't be preordering. I'll be well into D2 Forsaken content by then so it would gave to compete with that too. And when's Borderlands 3 out? 😋

Destiny player since D1 Beta, and I still play Destiny 2, mainly for the gunplay and hanging out with online friends. I generally agree with MrsFlyingKebab up there, except for Titan melee with their little T-Rex arm punching range.
But, yeah, she stated many of my thoughts.
My only addendum is that I expect strongholds to be a hotbed of elitism and segregation of the playerbase. Expect most of those parties to be closed, and 3rd party LFG sites to be full of "Must have N clears, X Javelin ONLY w/full stronghold gear and Y super rare weapon. Voice Chat required". Look forward to lots of 'conversation' on any boards between the "I have 50 jobs and 27 kids and do volunteer work 9 days a week, so I don't have time to stronghold!" and the "Well, I have 90 jobs and 30 children and spend 15 days a week on the ocean floor with bad wifi, and I can still clear all the strongholds and milestones and make it into the top 5 of the leaderboards because I know how prioritize!" folks. Count on it.

I have played the first destiny for maybe a 60 hours maximum, but only bought the taken king edition when it was in huge sale. Even with 3 expansion at a lower price, I thought there was not that much story content and the plot was a bit dissapointing to me. That's a place where bioware has more sucess historically since I loved all of their game (DA 2 being the exception). And speaking about destiny, Anthem would already do better than bungie-activision if they do not cut the content that was previously available like they did with destiny 1, AKA cutting parts of the pvp if you did not buy the last dlc.

3-week gap between the two games' launch dates. Enough? I was wondering why BW didn't release early March, and now I know. Less than 3 weeks would be bad. For Division players in particular, I think it will boil down to a) the demo and b ) how solid Anthem is at launch. I was just on the Division forums and the reaction to the Division 2 gameplay footage was very positive. So yeah. I really hope BW knock it out of the park. They need a win, and given how much joy I've had playing most of their games, I hope they get one. But sadly I'm not feeling it. Hoping I'm wrong.

Played D1 an Division alot an with friends enjoyed both, both had not so great launches but both, over time, grew, got a heck of alot better an became loved games.
We know what happened with D2 an tbh i honestly dont believe Division 2 will suffer from any of that an thats where Anthem could fall. Anthem has a great chance to launch successfully and i believe it will but the big question is will it have staying power, will the combat be engaging enough to keep players playing? will it launch with enough content? etc etc
So yeah my thought is it prob sell well but will it keep the players

I am an ex-very-hardcore-Bioware player, current Destiny player. That is right.
I have put 3,300+ hours in DAI (mostly multiplayer), 2,600+ hours in ME3 (mostly multiplayer) and 1,007 hours in Andromeda (mostly multiplayer). I've seen Bioware's shortcomings way too many times. Anthem is gonna have to be huge to bring me back - and even then, I think I will just stick with Destiny 2. At least the Destiny franchise has a 10-year contract to honor (between Activision and Bungie, starting 2014). As a franchise it simply has to keep going, it has to overcome challenges and get better. Its current roadmap is looking better than ever. And that is very appealing for a hardcore gamer who is willing to put hundreds, perhaps thousands of hours into a game. Bioware and EA don't have the same to offer. The game will keep going only for as long as it is profitable enough, just like Andromeda - and just like Andromeda, it could just as well be declared dead and buried 5 months after release. All in all, Anthem looks like a huge gamble to me.

Never played division but I played destiny 1 and 2 for a long time. I liked both but they got repetitive and boring pretty quickly, and I've never been a fan of first person games. I like that anthem has a lot of the same feel and apparent gameplay that destiny did, but stays 3rd person and improves upon the loot variety. I also definitely love the mechsuit concept and the enhanced mobility and 3d movement options.

i.gyazo.com/1c6c3d7e743ff547207e7f96cdfe9269.pngyou could say that Very underwhelmed by the actual presentation for the game from EA's conference. It sounds like the people who are actually getting hands-on time at the show all agree that it's much better than the presentation made it out to be, but ultimately we won't know until we play the game for ourselves. As it sits right now though, even with all the glowing reviews from people who played the demo, I see no reason to be excited about this game yet. It doesn't even make my top 5 from E3 (Sekiro, Metro, Cyberpunk, Nioh 2, Doom Eternal in case anyone was curious).

I played a fair amount of Destiny 1 and 2, and liked them both. I really got hooked on the gameplay (mostly shooting stuff and gazing at sci-fi scenes), but that can only entertain you for so long. There is not a whole lot extra to be gained by playing past the end of the story - certainly not in Destiny 2. If you enjoy repeating co-op missions, which are a hoot, and the PvP arena contests, it can be a lot of fun.
The story was intriguing, basically a version of 2001: Space Odyssey, but with a giant globe thing on Mars instead of the monoliths (and future teased invading pyramids?), that lead to a vast expansion of humanity throughout the solar system, then the fall of that solar society, and you the players fighting over the ruins. But it seems like they started with an interesting concept, then just got deeply afraid explaining it, and destroying the mystique. The whole story in Destiny 2 is supposedly about the light, and they can't even explain what the hell the "the light" is. Past the thin outline I described, there is not a whole lot to be learned.
Buy the way, if you purchase used versions of Destiny 1 on XBoxOne or PS4 (I think they were for $5 at Gamestop), the expansion pack codes usually still work.
Anthem, does not actually look as good as Destiny, story-wise. Eh, we'll see.

Anthem, does not actually look as good as Destiny, story-wise. Eh, we'll see. Wasn't Destiny's story on a separate website? Or was that just a rumor? There were in-game collectibles that essentially unlocked codex entries, except you had to visit the official Bungie website to read them. Then Bungie inexplicably decided to remove all of them shortly after the release of Destiny 2, so now they can only be found on third-party sites like this one. They're also far superior to any of the in-game story content across both of the games and all of their expansions.
