Yes. Also, I don't have a lot of friends on XBOX (because i never play online much), and those I do have are all of the 1337 kind, so they rush through missions, which doesn;t make it fun. Rando's are a slower, more chilled pace.

Gameplay still looks pretty dull IMO. Even regular enemies are quite bullet spongy and there didn't seem to be enough of them to make for an interesting combat pace. I get in this demo they're showing off the environments and stuff but how is the mission flow going to feel when it's our 40th time running it and we just want to speedrun through to the end? It sounds conspiratorial but I think games like this are designed this way almost on purpose now, to be a spectacle on launch but just fall apart on continued engagement. It's the kind of thing that enables nice looking trailers and good first week reviews but the problems only become apparent after a month or so. That's how long it took Destiny 2 to show its cracks, and I almost expect the same here. I will be suggesting to people to hold out for 1 month minimum before buying if they care about the price and stuff. For me, the cost isn't a concern and I enjoy having front row seats to trainwrecks so I'll most likely end up there from the jump anyway. But I'm not like, excited about it.

I'm pretty much in the same boat, half the fun of watching the world burn is being part of the chaos. If nothing else, I can have fun flexing my epeen for a month or two by way of the mission scoring. Plus there's actual good games coming out around that time as well, so it's not like a Destiny 2 situation where I'll be stuck with it for an entire season.

So... you can't really fault them for designing it that way.
Abd yes, if they want to make anthem a long-term game, they will have to take your point into account. But I doubt this video's purpose was to satisfy those cravings... they mentioned repeatedly that the game balance shown in the video was not the final one.

Although I am of the type that minmaxes and tries to grind down as many minutes and seconds off a mission as humanly possible, I'm not even talking about that. I mean, even the casualest of casuals is not going to tiptoe through the tulips they way they did in the gameplay demo. "Enjoying the environments" is not something that keeps you playing missions past the first time (ok, maybe fourth or fifth time) through. I dunno. I know the type of info I'm looking for is not something that you really ever get from trailers or demos, so w/e. But I'm not like, excited about it. I'm pretty much in the same boat, half the fun of watching the world burn is being part of the chaos. Howdy Howdy Pearl Yeah that's true, we won't have to wallow in it if it's garbo with so much else to play around that time. I also plan on putting back on my lab coat and ripping apart the numbers again if it's possible, which is one of the reasons I stuck with ME:A longer than I would have otherwise.

Well I am confused 🤔😣 I thought it might be like Diablo where there can be a bunch of people playing at the same time, but not necessarily with you... I only tried that once briefly. I have never played multiplayer game so dont really know much about them. I was prepared to try this game even though it is not my type of game, but now I am not sure. It seems you need a team to get anywhere. Guess I'll have to wait and see. I think Bioware is not being straight forward enough regarding what this game actually is, which is a co-op looter-shooter. Saying "it can be played solo" is a very vague statement. Borderlands can be played solo, and so can Destiny (for the most part). Diablo too (though it is not a shooter it falls in the looter category). Still, none of these games were meant to be played solo. Playing solo is a compromise, and it is detrimental progression-wise unless the solo player is voluntarily seeking a challenge. Just like it would be for instance in the multiplayer components of ME3, DAI and Andromeda, you can play solo for the extra challenge, but those games should ideally be played with a team.

Just like it would be for instance in the multiplayer components of ME3, DAI and Andromeda, you can play solo for the extra challenge, but those games should ideally be played with a team. They have said everything you said above, in several different ways. I'm not sure what else they could to do to make it clearer. If anyone playing solo thinks they are going to get an optimal experience, they weren't paying attention, or have questionable reading comprehension. It's absolutely clear that the game is designed first and foremost as a loot shooter for co-op play. I mean, just the mandatory always online makes that clear, but they've also said it in terms of what they've done to bring people back to the game after the critical path is completed -- "the loot chase" (he should have said "loot pursuit" ), in terms of missions, "The encounters are set up for four players,” says lead producer Ben Irving. “That’s where the fun is, and they’re built with that teamwork in mind," and in terms of how storytelling becomes your downtime between coop sessions, "Because Anthem has a shared world and private hub, the structure of the game naturally splits groups apart. 'I jump in and I’m able to do a mission with somebody, and that’s an experience that lasts maybe 20 minutes,' Warner says. 'And then the system breaks us apart; I don’t have to say ‘I don’t want to play with you anymore.’ It just does. It breaks us apart and we each go back to our own Fort Tarsis,' and, "In that sense, the tale that unfolds in Fort Tarsis is almost like a traditional single-player narrative, but with cooperative gameplay bridging the gaps." And that's just picking one or two quotes for each point. They've said the same things multiple times, with multiple different Bioware people saying them. If anything, they've over-communicated. Now, that's not to say there isn't a certain amount of marketspeak and careful wording going on. They aren't stupid. They know how gamers fly off the handle if you say something the wrong way or that can be too easily misconstrued. And they've made mistakes, like giving away that you "defeat the Dominion" in the critical path of the released main game. They're communication hasn't been perfect, by any means, but to say they've been unclear or lack straight-forwardness about this being a coop game is nonsense.
