I'm probably missing something, but what the heck, here goes …
Looking at the various options. When you buy the game and unlock your Javelins … they come with their common (armor pack) appearance … common helmet, torso, legs and arms. You can select various common textures and colors to modify the common armor pack appearance of your Javelin. It also comes with some common emotes.
Other than VIP players who get a few bonus vinyl and Legion of Dawn armor set(s) (plus a weapon and for LOD folks, an attachment), all the uncommon, rare, epic, etc. vinyl, emotes and pieces of armor sets are "sold" either through game coin or shards. The former worth little and earned through lots of game play, the latter paid for with real money.
So if you are OK with the common colors, textures and armor pieces, no mtx is necessary. And if you are not chasing "vanity items" … just play the game, have fun. Right now, all the weapons and "mods" are either found in game or created via stuff you pickup, salvage or loot … the things that effect game play will be gotten through game play, not mtx … at least initially.
There is another concern and that is EA will charge for new Javelin exoskeletons. That's a real concern. It will probably happen … not right away, but as a planned release.
For me, a new Javelin is the only thing I intend to spend "coin" on. So between game release and when the first new Javelin goes on sale, my "coin" stash will slowly build, gain a little dust, but won't go for any vanity items. And if I don't have enough "coin" when the new Javelin is released … well, I'll just let it build up until I do. Then start stockpiling coin for the next Javelin release and the next after that.

Lol, what ever I can get with the initial investment is great other than that EA will not get an extra dime (insert local currency equivalent) out of me, if I get at least 40 hours of game play I'm good with that

The haters can't find anything to complain about and everyone else is likely playing the game. I'm sure someone's making a video soon... Also, I should point out that the level 1 to level 30 progression has you unlock a javelin at level 2, 12, 24 and 28 or something like that. I think we don't have to worry about paying for them. Let the whales who can't wait do that. As for skins and things, 20 is a bit hefty I guess but I have a feeling it will be brought down to 15 or 12, closer to warframe pricing. Additional Javelins beyond the initial 4. They will be for sale for shards or direct purchase only is my guess. 19.99USD lowest price point unless it is a sale.

Also worthy of note is that the Colossus Javelin only has 3 cosmetic armor slots compared to the Ranger, Storm, and Interceptor's 4. For Big Bois the chest and helmet are a single piece whereas for the others they can swap out helmets and chest pieces separately. Whether this impacts the pricing remains to be seen. It doesn't look like it from the screenshot. Ranger armor set 20USD. Colossus armor set 20USD. Emotes 8USD.

My theory is that new Javelins will not be available for purchase with COIN. Shards or direct purchase only. They could even make it direct purchase only, no shards, so that even if you had some shards you couldn't use those towards the cost of the new Javelin, thus getting extra cash from us.

Hard to say what is "fair." I can only say what I might pay. 10$ for a new Javelin type; 1$ for a Javelin skin part or 3$ for the full skin set; 1$ for a vinyl; 25c for an emote. To my thinking keeping pricing within reason increases the number of people willing to spend real world dollars on these things, but only they know which is the lucrative approach: gouge the hell out of the smaller obsessed portion of the fanbase or go after the broader market. Of course there's also the bad look the former brings so they should factor that into the decision-making.

If the armor packs are 10 dollars I'll put some money in to it. If they are 20 each I doubt I'll ever buy more than one.

I find anything above a dollar for an armor set not acceptable considering there will likely be a lot of them to milk the players. I'm frankly shocked how much some people would pay for stupid cosmetic items on top of a $60 price tag. No wonder publishers are making millions with this shit. Stop buying this stuff!!!
If 40.000 coins is anywhere near the reality we'll be facing and this translates to $20, then this is Fallout 76 level of disgustingly greedy, and grindy as fuck for anyone who doesn't want to spend money. On top of the grind for better weapons that I expect to be a ME3MP level time sink.
This is not cool.

Warframe Deluxe skins cost 10 bucks. That is the standard I measure things to. Of course the upfront entry fee for Anthem I'd measure just as well.

Dunno, maybe throw an "entitled" or "Ill informed" into your reply and both of you can dance this dance inexhaustibly into the nearest sunset.
Geez, get along kids.
Also 20$ for cosmetics seems a bit much. I could understand that price point for a new javelin, because of all the gear, abilities and variants that have to be implemented into the game, but I couldn't argue for a purchase if it's "only" a skin.

I think a lot of things in Warframe are overpriced but they get a bit of a pass since they're free to play. A Buy To Play like Anthem shouldn't get that leeway, IMO.

I'm not sure in what way but, hey I am entitled to my money. No doubt about it. And maybe I was a bit ill-informed when I chose to make a career in medicine but on the whole it has been and still is a good life.

I'd first have to get invested enough in a game to even care about cosmetic details so much that just changing surface material and paint color are no longer sufficient.
For comparison, Warframe skins cost $10 for a new model/skin (i.e. a skin that essentially gives you a new model for the warframe in question, not just a different color pattern on the existing model like Anthem's vinyls) and about $2.35 for a simple skin (new color pattern like Anthem's vinyls, but specific to a single warframe). I think a set of cosmetic armor attachments (arms, legs, chest, all attached separately, fits any warframe) is about $7. Syandanas (cloaks, fit any warframe) are between $3 and $7.
That assumes you bought the platinum at full price - but you can choose to be patient and wait for a discount coupon as your daily login reward, reducing the platinum price between 20% and 70%. I bought all my platinum on average at a 50% discount.
Or you can even trade for platinum with other players and not spend any real money.
Warframe however is free to play, and Anthem wants a $60 admission fee. How much I'd be willing to pay on top of that depends entirely on how much fun and investment I'm getting out of the game.

So is he wrong for feeling worried or even frustrated about this? If she is frustrated about what other people do with their money? That kind of worries usually leads to personal problems in the end. But hey, you do you I guess. It is frustrating because MTXs has an effect on your gaming whether you buy them or not. But hey....Im trying to reason with someone who was so convinced that MEA SP DLC was coming and we all know how that turned out....

That is only 5 levels of hyperbole. I think you need to up those rookie numbers when telling other people what they should with their money. Maybe you can get in an "implore" somewhere? So is he wrong for feeling worried or even frustrated about this?
Nope. One should be worried. Mark Darrah mentioned that the Gold version of the game has a complete different game economy.
While the VIP demo allowed the player to change the JAV colours at will / use some coins, the Gold version may totally surprise you. After all, mtx were banned and EA wants to put their greedy hand inside your pocket were the wallet is located as a substitute. I say this because the VIP Demo economy was designed to please.
Grind/time sink here I come. Bio did mention that the game is designed to "straight jacket" your play style (ie: farming).
I see the above as proof of my position.
