Poll added that asks at which price points it would be fair and appropriate to sell those Javelin vinyls. So not how much you would spend if you really, really wanted it, but how much you think would be fair. Poll relates to one Javelin armor pack and vinyl as pictured. Use as many votes as you feel reflects your judgment of fairness. The poll does not address grind or a belief that no MTX is fair. Hopefully, I'm not violating any rules by posting this. I also wanted to include the developers comments as well. www.reddit.com/r/AnthemTheGame/comments/ajg581/image_featured_store_items_cost/eeveuehSome people are speculating that its a 1 shard/1cent ratio, meaning that an Epic Armor pack (which would unlock for all four Javelins I assume) would come out to be $20. Again, that's peoples speculation, and these values could be different upon the games release. This would also apply to the in-game currency (Coin) costs as well; in addition to how much is gained per activity/difficulty ranking.

Looking at the graphic, the pack includes head, torso, arms, and legs, but they're each for a different Javelin. Guardian is for the Ranger, Dreadnought for Colossus, their specific emblem is in the top right of their respective store windows. The armour material is for any Javelin, all four emblems are shown on their windows.
What I really like is that everything there can be bought for coin. Yay for in-game currency!
Nice info!
Edit: Looking at it again, that emote is also Colossus only. Interesting.

Cool looking stuff, cool looking menu screens too! Not the coolest looking prices but part of me just hopes Bioware makes Fortnight money off Anthem.

The haters can't find anything to complain about and everyone else is likely playing the game. Considering that right now only the developers can play the game (we are hours away from the demo launch) does that make us all haters? 😋 I couldn't care less for prices as I don't plan spending a dime on MTX (unless it's something absolutely amazing). I hope they learned their lesson from SWTOR and will not put story content (or similar non-cosmetic stuff) behind a MTX paywall.

The current plan is free story updates free endgame updates etc. They don't want to segregate the community. That is one thing I really liked about the system for ME3, all the MP DLC was free. I know people didn't like the randomness of the loot, but to me it was a tradeoff for getting the DLC without segmenting the playerbase. I think if the DLC was paid for and no MTX in ME3 the MP would have died off quickly after the first couple of DLC. I didn't like how the loot was designed in Inquisition's MP for there wasn't a cap to how many of each item you could get since each item was random and there wasn't the ranks. I think Andromeda did it well until the patch where they just padded out the inventory to the point it would take too long to get something.

I bet it's 1/5 to maybe 1/4 quarter the install base for a game. More money to be made off micros. I hope they do not introduce randomness though. I don't think the gambling element belongs in any game that isn't regulated by gambling laws.

There is a lot more to something to classify it as gambling its why the countries that are starting to take a look at lootboxes are having to classify them as gambling at a legislative level because as they were introduced they weren't. If random choice meant gambling a gumball machine could be considered gambling too for you insert a coin hoping to get the flavored gum you want, but there is a choice of five or six flavors and a foiled one for some random prize.

This discussion is continuing to circle on the interwebs, so I do think it is appropriate to throw it back up.

Well if there's one thing to predict it's that if an armor pack costs 2000 shards you'll only be able to buy shards in packs of 2500.

Just a pattern that runs across the entirety of your Javelin EDIT: I actually didn't think to add a pool on the maximum people would be willing to pay (thanks Sofa). I think $10 is probably the most they could get away with without drawing significant outcry; for an armor set. My sweet spot would be $7.50 - $8.00 (I know, it's pretty awkward for a price point). No doubt, there will be people who are opposed to MTX's in general, but this was to be expected. That also doesn't mean that this system they have, even if it is cosmetic, can't feel "icky" if the pricing (or the grind required) isn't balanced properly. Considering that the Legion of Dawn version of the game was an additional $20, and came with very distinct armor sets for EVERY Javelin (including some weapons), it would be absurd to charge $20 for a single Javelin armor set. I also think it's worth holding BioWare to task on this if it does get too expensive, because Mike Gamble went out of his way to explicitly state that they weren't targeting the "whales" for this game. Your price point reflects that, and if it comes out to be more than $10 that's going to really rub people the wrong way; and fuel the outrage machine.

I'm thinking for a vinyl that applies on all four Javelins, $5 is fair. I don't know about for "armor". Is the armor purely cosmetic as well? I'll say $5 again for an armor pack for all 4 Javelins.

Well if there's one thing to predict it's that if an armor pack costs 2000 shards you'll only be able to buy shards in packs of 2500. Or if it's 800 shards, and the only shard packs remotely close are 750 and 1000. As much of a centerpiece this is for MTX's, it still feels pretty scummy sometimes. I'm thinking for a vinyl that applies on all four Javelins, $5 is fair. I don't know about for "armor". Is the armor purely cosmetic as well? I'll say $5 again for an armor pack for all 4 Javelins. Armor is indeed cosmetic, and based on the picture, it seems to be the most expensive of the cosmetic items. It also only applies to one Javelin (again, looking at the picture). Some of the emotes only apply to a single Javelin as well; which doesn't really make sense to me.

The correct answer is shard packs of: So you can actually buy only the amounts you need. How amazing would it be to have transparent logic applied?

They have already said only cosmetics will only cost real world money, no problem there but i won't pay over 5 bucks or less for them or anything else.. Javelins aren't suppose to be a pay for item as Ben Irnving has said repeatedly, it isn't going to be!!! I don't mind supporting Bioware by paying for cosmetics but not for Javelins, which would be a pay to win situation..ain't happenin'...
40,000 gold or 2000 shards.....lol, I'm not paying that!!!! gotta be 5 bucks or less, maybe a lil more but no more... that pirce of the gold or shards is ridiculous... I got to play the vip demo and did good to get 300 gold...Do u know how long it would take to get 40,000 gold? Ain't happening...
Better to lower the price and get more sales than one price really high, the latter getting less...
For me as long as there's no Javelins or weapons u gotta pay for to win....I'm good with the whole buying cosmetics...

I think an even correcter answer is having no spacebucks at all. Armor pack? 10$ or whatever, buyable by paying 10 dollars to the in-game store. But devs are hesitant to do that because it feels gross, I think. For them and us. Market research shows sales are higher when you use spacebucks and even higher when you have to buy spacebucks packs.

Right, it detaches the customer from the sense of spending 'real money' leading to increased sales. It's one of the reasons why you get 'chips' at a casino.
You also increase sales by doing what Sofa joked about. People complain but it still increases sales.
The graphic shows an armor pack with a vinyl for a single Javelin type to cost 20USD. I'm pretty sure it will stay that way.
I'm also pretty sure Javelins will be released for 19.99USD but will not be purchasable with in game COIN. Shards or direct purchase only.

If they have emotes priced at 8USD I don't see how they can sell the Javelin armor set + vinyl pack for less than what they have it marked for, 20USD. If they adjust the armor set and vinyl pack down, everything goes down in relation ... this is a hard poll to vote in because I'm pretty sure what we are seeing is what we are getting.
Again, more than happy to be wrong.
My vote was one of realism. They will set it there and let the market decide what it shall bear.
The thing is, regardless of all our complaining we represent a tiny fraction of people that play games (forum goers). People buy microtransactions all day long and they spend a lot of money.
I fear game companies could just straight up ignore any and all complaints from people on forums or reddit and just plow forward with whatever type of microtransactions they feel like having.

Also, I should point out that the level 1 to level 30 progression has you unlock a javelin at level 2, 12, 24 and 28 or something like that. I think we don't have to worry about paying for them. Let the whales who can't wait do that. As for skins and things, 20 is a bit hefty I guess but I have a feeling it will be brought down to 15 or 12, closer to warframe pricing.

Also worthy of note is that the Colossus Javelin only has 3 cosmetic armor slots compared to the Ranger, Storm, and Interceptor's 4. For Big Bois the chest and helmet are a single piece whereas for the others they can swap out helmets and chest pieces separately. Whether this impacts the pricing remains to be seen.
