I had to grind a bit to get the treasure chests, but not too much. I had trouble with the 3 revivals, because everyone I was teamed up with was too good! But then I accidentally discovered during a world event that NPC javelin repairs counted, and got them all then. Everything else I had done just by doing the missions and a bit of freeplay and exloration.

Ugh, I hate quests like these. You tick off all the things grind a bit on that and then faceplant yourself on some rock hard granite of rng grind or so with no idea how to mitigate it.

I'm 19 hours in, none of that has been dedicated grinding, just doing agent missions/contracts, exploring Ft. Tarsis, and story. I'm 3/4 of the way finished those challenges, and just unlocked this mission. When I saw that original tweet, I expected something like "kill 5 Ursix with a handgun". It isn't nearly that bad, protip: revives can be human players or NPCs, so go exploring, do some world events. The rest just falls into place...if you play the story campaign like an RPG, like the BioWare game that it is. If you just scream through, doing the barest minimum, I guess you'll have a nasty surprise. Obviously some people did, and now they're salty. Yeah it's definitely my fault for "screaming through" that after 7 hours of play that mission started me out at 0/X on all tasks. Which one is it? Started with nothing at 7 hours, or finished at 7 hours? How terrible that people need to actually play the game, and do different things. This isn't even grindy by most online game standards.

You know, in another part of the gaming world a game gets lauded for telling you to go out and run some errands. Come back when you're level so and so to advance the critical path. This one is about being a freelancer and doing what freelancers do. If you as player don't appreciate shooting mobs, flying around, looting stuff and exploring the World then yes this game is not for you. Maybe get a point and click next time.

You HAD to go do side quests due to the level gaps between Main Story quests. you had to XP grind to some extent. So even the game so many people say is the greatest game of all time, does this exact same thing. Ass Creed Odyssey also got flak for doing this. You have to go do side quests to get XP because of main quest lvl gaps. Everyone threw a hissy fit because it "forces" you to go do something else. As for myself? I didn't notice, because I just naturally just do All Of The Things and take my sweet time anyway. I spent 154 hours on Odyssey. I never felt like I was grinding, but thats just me personally.

So even the game so many people say is the greatest game of all time, does this exact same thing. I'm currently replaying it on a slow pace, and actually Witcher 3 does the exact opposite - you can get side quests and contracts that are above your current level, and the easiest way to level up quickly is playing more of the main story path and less side missions for a bit.

I won't lie. I was confused and thought the game had bugged out when I no longer had any missions to do. Luckily I only had to grind a few of the items to access the tombs (15 chests, 10 collectibles and 50 Ult kills). Took a few hours to get the chests and collectibles.
They should have made it a little more clear that they require you to switch to Freeplay mode to resume the campaign.

There is a suggestion that if you aren't X level before starting this mission, you will probably die a horrible death. But, if you want that, go nuts! You, like myself probably, are not ultimate 1337 gamer and took those recommendations seriousness, especially at the beginning. But, I got my Cat Gear at level 11, not 16. Ballsy I was As far as grindy by standards - I didn't know it mattered who had an opinion and whether or not anyone liked it. Sounds grindy to me, and I don't really care how awesome someone else thinks they are to tell me otherwise.

Well, yes. you could technically do the missions, but you would basically just get curb stomped if you didn't grind, unless your uber 1337. As far as the second half of your comment goes, I'm really not sure what you mean.

Grindy by standards was related to the other quote in that post. Wasn't intended at you, therevanchist25. About curbstomping.... yes, for the first part of the game I actively hated TW3 combat and thought it was worse in every way compared to TW2. Then, I dunno, something clicked and I understood the combat meta. You have a couple enemy types, learn their moves and either parry or more-likely dodge (not roll) and counter. Add some flavor with Aard or Igni or both or ??? and all of sudden Geralt is a killing machine. I nearly raised the difficulty a couple times, but there are stupid difficulty spikes at times where you can go from roflstomping to dead pretty quickly so I decided against that. However, I learned pretty quickly that if the Objective is under 10 levels over your own, with some effort you can handle it quite easily. Giants, for instance, are incredibly easy to kill despite their massive size and HP pool. They could be 20 levels over yours and still easy to kill.

I wasnt confused by that, but I was definitely confused by the Multi Kills requirement. I thought it was a "kill X enemies in one attack" when it was really "kill X enemies within Y seconds".

I've seen Bioware do some pretty dumb quest design but this takes the cake. I mean, worse than DAI shard platforming in a not-platforming game?

Oh, yes, I suppose this should be posted here as well.
Michael Gamble @gamblemike We just pushed a small update which adjusts when the tomb challenge opens up. Allows folks to progress from level 3 and should fix those who got blocked due to an earlier crash.

TW3 isn't strictly level gated as we know but Morrowind is. And boy is that game lauded for it. By "true" rpg connaiseurs Not from what I've heard. Morrowind is lauded by true RPG fans for many other reasons though, like the ability to succeed in combat being directly related to the skills of your character and not the skills of the player Well, maybe you should try taking those earplugs out.

I wasnt confused by that, but I was definitely confused by the Multi Kills requirement. I thought it was a "kill X enemies in one attack" when it was really "kill X enemies within Y seconds".
Maybe calling it chain-kill would've been clearer communication.
Thanks for the heads up.
