I think I might be done with this game? I have a few weeks left of Premiere, but I'm struggling to even give a shit about booting it up again for any reason.
I take it you won't be volunteering for the Anthem Research Team?
(you'd have to start by figuring out what the bonuses even do.)
Probably not. The game is too frustrating and janky to even be interesting enough for me to tear apart.

It still kills me how unceremonious and abrupt the mission endings are. This is me doing Tyrant Mine earlier, we kill the boss and there's no loot drop from his body, rather going directly to inventory (this seems to be a bug, since sometimes it does come out of the body and sometimes not?), but since the mission exit timer is only 10 seconds you barely get a chance to process anything. My loot scroll didn't even finish. And then you just get dumped to that godawful mission summary screen that takes ages to skip through everything even though there's a Skip All. We were still cleaning up enemies there and it just basically says fuck you and ends. And reminder that the countdown used to be TWO SECONDS. It's just ridiculous.
Oh and there was no masterwork drop from the boss, that was on GM1. So cool.

I don't really play these types of games for the story but even with those low expectations, the story was meh at best. Interested in the looter type aspects. Level 30 playing on GM1. I am really an average player in games and find the difficulty fine once you get a decent set of Epics. I tried this game as a gap before the Division 2.
The amount of bugs and technical issues really just take away from this game as well as missing basic QOL items.
A few things: 1. Quickplay is totally borked for me. For the past two days, when I try and use it I enter a game where the objectives have failed to update and are bugged or even where I constantly get the outside of mission area even if I am in the same spot as the entire team causing a loop of reloads. Probably the reason why others dropped. 2. Freeplay is a mess. Unless you enter as a group already there is no way to coordinate events or see their location.Other issues with it but these have been mentioned by others. 3. For some reason when I use a sniper rifle, I can not even shoot it once in a mission. Left click has no response. 4. Laggy triggering of abilities, especially those that have a charge up. 5. Appearance changes not saving.
Many more but just a few off the top of my head. In my experience, this is the buggiest game I have played. There are just too many other games in the same genre that do it better. I get the, "other games have had time to get better" but the reality is that they are there and available to play and offer a much better experience. I hope they get this right but they have a lot of work to do. Glad I tried it with Origin Access versus buying it directly.
Edit: Wanted to add one more thing. Get rid of the overheat mechanic when traveling. It isn't a fun mechanic and adds nothing to the game when having to drop out of the air and cooldown 4 times traveling to a waypoint even with booster items equipped. I get the need for it when hovering but otherwise...
1. I started playing today on Xbox One X and have played the first 2 missions. The second mission was inside a cave and I lost count of the times I saw a message "entering respawn area" or "exiting respawn area". I managed to make it back to where I had to be in time for all of the notices except for 1 on the outside, but damn, this shouldn't happen. I'm playing as Storm and I need cover. On one occasion I was moving through a smaller tunnel and on either side of me I got the notice. We're talking about an area 10-15 feet across!!! It also happened numerous times when I was on the outside and not that far away from the action.
2. There's intermittent lag. My connection is hard-wired broadband with an open NAT and no errors (I check before each play session).
No other issues. Loving the game so far. It appears to me the difficulty was ratcheted up for the final release, and that's ok by me. I started out in hard but had to back it off to normal until I level up up a bit. The missions are long, so far, and that's cool too.

You're right and I forgot to add that to my 2 issues. The end of missions is very abrupt, the end of cut scenes is even more abrupt. I hope this gets sorted out along with the very narrow play area restrictions.
Quickplay is utter mess right now. Five missions in a row at GM1 and Hard difficulty - all bugged! FIVE! Just load in, try to do something, quit loading, loading, loading, go back, loading, quit, loading, loading, loading, etc.... Half an hour wasted because nobody tested this crap properly. It was bit less frequent before, now it's downright pathetic.
So, some Freeplay. Got 5 Masterworks, the game crashed and froze on loading screen. Got back in, no Masterworks. Did another Freeplay session and left, no Masterworks saved in inventory. Did a quick mission and after it - no Masterworks. Thanks, Bioware. Why should I bother again?
This gameplay would have made for an absolutely incredible single player bioware experience. That's my only real thought on it at the moment, and yet half the text I see on screen is begging me to play with other people.
I'll be more involved in here as I play (just now playing for the first time since the trial period).
So I ran into an NPC "jarek arnel" and he's got his left arm inside a wall leaning into it👍 I'd say that's the first animation issue I've ran into so far but overall anthem seems improved over Andromeda at least.
Few other gripes:
To many and to long of loading screens, it's obnoxious and reminds me of Skyrim oh so much.
I'm still sensing Bioware trying to put to much humor on their games, the characters are still doing so much joking around in the dialogue.
The way to change your paint seems confusing, I'm on my interceptor but I've no idea how to get away from the green and white colors to say black and red, I don't even know if I have the option of red? I can't see it anywhere.
I must be stupid because I haven’t found the “resize screen” option. Correction, I am stupid but also recall reading in the patch notes this option was added.

As in, you’re having trouble finding where to change your colours, or you’re having trouble finding the specific colours you want?

I don't see where to get colors like blue, red, purple, etc etc. I know how to change colors though.
What does that mean? Chain Combo. I've been playing this game a lot, I've well versed in BioWare's previous games with combo systems (I wrote the goddamn book on Andromeda's ffs) and I can't tell you dick fucking squat about what this gear does. Does it prime a chain combo? Does it detonate? Chain Combo. Why is there just a stupid sentence fragment there telling me nothing when there's 18 fucking square miles of UI real estate to write something actually explanatory? Chain Combo. Maybe there's something in the Cortex. Hmm, Tutorials, How to Play, Combinations and Effects. Doesn't say shit. Chain Combo.
Thanks, BioWare. Chain Combo.

is the piece you're looking at using metal material? if so you can only change metal types which is just slight hue differences. You have to pick a painted material to be able to select actual colors.

The preset colour palette is much bigger than it looks at first glance, it’s actually 13 rows deep - you can only see 5 at a time. Just scroll down. And of course you can also create a custom colour if you don’t find the exact shade you want in the pre-set ones. Also I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but if the material is one of the Metal varieties, you can’t paint it. The material needs to be changed to one of the Rubber, Painted, Leather, or Fabric types first. The exception is the Legion of Dawn Metal which can be coloured whatever you like. Does that help? I can hook up my capture card and get screenies if need be.
I went back to my Interceptor after playing Colossus for a few levels and realized
Each javelin
must grind gear levels
separately
Yeah but it only takes like 2 missions of GM1 to gear up in all purples. And Gear Level is meaningless, everything goes off Pilot Level. And you can still equip all the highest level guns you have. Not a big issue IMO.
Edit: Gear Level isn't totally meaningless, since it apparently does calculate into some damage numbers. But still, I started with Colossus and was full Epic on each other Jav within 2-3 missions.
