Not a fan of the blonde. I don't think those lips work on anyone but Jolie herself. Overall, I think the women have better taste here. Taste is subjective, it differs from person to person and group to group. That was really one of the points of posting that survey, that different groups have different tastes.

Man, I wish the features weren't labeled with the women's faces from which they were taken. I can't help but seeing them as freaky Franken-faces, now. Yeah. To be honest they both kinda look like ... But ANYWAY, the point is men see different things in women as beautiful. I've seen more women say Josephine is beautiful then men, which shows Dragon Age is built through a more female gaze compared with Mass Effect which was built through a more male gaze. Really? Do men think Miranda's face is hot? Or is it all about her ass, because that I can understand. Yvonne Strahovski is hot as hell, but her face did not....translate well in ME2. It looked like to me it was either melting, or competing in the Michael Jackson look alike contest. Maybe if I were into women I'd understand, I suppose. And I can accept that it's probably because I'm not sexually into women.

I guess I'm just in the minority in preferring less puffy, more angular faces for both genders, plus strong brows (I have a thing for eyebrows).

They should just make all romanceable characters as hideous as possible, but make all the non romance NPCs super hot and always horny but nothing can be done about it. They should just scrap romance and make good RPGs. Chews up too many resources and it's just a continuing source of angst. Omg no! I want a good romance in my good rpg.

Maybe if I were into women I'd understand, I suppose. That... actually would be super interesting! Comparing women who are into women with men who are into women. The same is true for women into men and men into men.
However, I'm of the mind that one doesn't have to be sexually attracted to whatever gender to have a personal appearance preference or standards. Gay men have been in the fashion industry, doing women's hair, makeup, and clothing, for a very long time with an eye for what looks good, and they certainly don't want to "do" any of those women.

It adds some depth to the game, but Bioware just can't win: If Bioware inserts traditionally beautiful women - people say Bioware are objectifying women - cries of sexism. If Bioware makes women more realistic - people say Bioware are pandering to "SJWs" - cries of "SJWism". If Bioware makes everyone bisexual - shitstorm incoming - everyone gets flung far away through the winds of outrage. And the resources Bioware puts into romance is supposed to be significant (according to Gaider I think). Really people just need to take a chill pill, but since when does that happen on the internet

There was an interesting survey done a few years ago. Men and women were asked to build the "perfect female face". The research revealed that men prefer blonde hair, full lips, and strong cheekbones but also a petite nose, less prominent forehead and finer eyebrows.
Women see the epitome of beauty as raven hair, a stronger nose and forehead profile, strong brows and narrower bone structure.I'll paste those two images below and then people can answer a couple of questions - which face does Josephine most closely resemble, and are we judging Josephine's beauty through the male or female gaze? Very interesting info. My response, cute blonde. More seriously, as a male my view largely aligns with research. Josephine's characteristics definitelyseem to fit other camp which is maybe partly why i can't fathom when i see people saying she is gorgeous.

The minute Dragon Age ditches romances, the same day it dies. It's as integral as being singleplayer. Without romances, this is another boring western RPG with nothing much special going for it. Might as well play The Elder Scroll games.

Seconded. I don't think straight guys would care if there are good-looking men in the story.

Well, I suppose that's better than the opposite. Everyone can't be a looker though. As for companions, I don't have any complaints for who we've had so far.

By the way the OP didn´t mentioned the age. Older women like Wynne or Chakwas are also sexy, beautiful & charismatic in their own way. Men like Jolee also.
And Wildflower is a cute little demon girl. Just to clarify Underage children should never be romanced in any game. This is wrong and sick. But older women and men as romance why not? The french president is married to his former teacher. Its a bit weird but he dated her as an adult. So more characters like Wynne and maybe even as a romance.

I would have thought the act of cutting bits out of people and manufacturing a perfect woman would have been far creepier than the pictures :S "Creepy" is an adjective used far more at guys anyway, in comparison you rarely hear about creepy women. I was merely pointing out that guys weren't doing this for erotica, but rather beauty companies aimed at women were organising it, women were participating in the act, and a woman's health magazine was promoting it.

Creepy is a pretty mild adjective when you compare it to what adjectives replace it when you are talking about women who are "creepy" And also, the fact that women participated doesn't make the process any better. Not that that was what I was referring to as creepy in the first place

It's just making concrete games people have played for many decades. "Oh I'd take his face and this guy's body" people have been doing that in school yards forever

I said they were creepy because of the uncanny-valley aspect. Not because they were idealistic women or whatever. And yes, the male pictures are just as creepy for the same reason. I'm fine with people saying random body parts from people that they think would look hot together, but the actual picture result is, again, creepy.

I don't know....option A sounds pretty good in theory but after a few romances/playthroughs its going to get old. A few average-looking romances would spice it up. So I'll take option A with a little of option B.
