Would it be any more acceptable if we were to paste male images of the same thing? No. Still creepy and strange-looking.

Not a fan of the blonde. I don't think those lips work on anyone but Jolie herself. Overall, I think the women have better taste here. Taste is subjective, it differs from person to person and group to group. That was really one of the points of posting that survey, that different groups have different tastes. Sure. I just found it interesting that I'm not with my gender here. Then again, I'm often not.

They should just make all romanceable characters as hideous as possible, but make all the non romance NPCs super hot and always horny but nothing can be done about it. Bioware already did that with Bethany and Vivienne as super hot.

I guess I'm just in the minority in preferring less puffy, more angular faces for both genders, plus strong brows (I have a thing for eyebrows). Let me try and explain the Josie situation without using creepy Frankenpictures. She's good looking, sure, but I don't think she has the "oomph" factor. Y'know, that thing dudes get when someone who's a knockout passes by, immediately gets their mind going down hot red tracks. We tend to put a lot of stock on that feeling, perhaps too much. In that context, Josephine and Cassandra strike me as no more than ordinarily pretty. But like I've said, that's not the reason I don't like their romances, specially since I believe perceived physical attractiveness can be somewhat affected by personal attractiveness. I mentioned ME1 Ashley as an example of a rather plain female companion, but she's one of my favorite Bioware love interests. She's certainly the most fun of the bunch.

This is me with Garrus' romance, which for me is my favorite BioWare romance ever. He's not conventionally hot, but he's very charismatic and sexy, imo. Everything about his character and romance path ticked all the right boxes for me.

Josie and Cass are "pretty", sure. But it's like Gwydden said - I think that hits the nail on the head perfectly. And while I love Merrill, she too is "pretty" in my opinion, but it's her charm and personality that won me over more. The only time I've had that mindset about a DA NPC was Lelianna.
And those Frankenpictures.....god how I wish I could un-see those.....

Well yes...in fact I would, I have to look at ugly and average looking people everyday, whether it be when I wake up and look in the mirror or when I head to school or work. A little escapism would be nice All this being said Cassandra is hot af, how dare you think otherwise OP.

Maybe I'm just weird but I never understood why people cry about Cassandra looks. Most romance options in Bioware games aren't over the top sexy like the two main women in Witcher(and tbh i think ciri is better looking than them both in Witcher 3). It's usually their personally that make them attractive to me. In Mass Effect we never see Tali face, Liara is fucking blue, Ashley is just normal looking(nothing wrong with that), Jack is 99% tattoos, and Miranda's ass gets more screen time than the rest of her. But I never seen anyone complain about romance looks until Cassandra in DA:I and Cora in ME:A because "BiOwArE bEcUm SjDuBs"

I mentioned ME1 Ashley as an example of a rather plain female companion, but she's one of my favorite Bioware love interests. She's certainly the most fun of the bunch. Doesn't the same apply to all other companions Bioware ever made? None of them really strikes me as having that "oomph" factor on appearance alone, and as much as I like Morrigan, her appearance is the least of it. Of course I'd like "stunningly beautiful" here and there, but in my experience it's icing on the cake, not really important.
I liked Morrigan for her independence and her contempt for stuffy traditions. I wouldn't have romanced her in DAO had she not been attractive, but once a reasonable threshold of attractiveness is attained, it's the nonphysical traits that make the difference.
So if a game wants me to engage with its romance content, it needs to give me characters somewhat in tune with me philosophically, in those areas I rarely vary in characters. And that has been significantly more rare than characters physically attractive enough to not rule them out. Basically there is Morrigan. Solas as a far second maybe.
Yeah, I agree Ciri looks better than Geralt's LIs, but may that be because she's younger? After all, Yennefer is old enough to be her mother, and making her younger would've made her feel inauthentic. As for Cassandra, she's a great character but really doesn't look attractive IMO. Nothing to "cry" about, I just don't romance her. In fact, with most of my characters I don't romance anyone in DAI, that's perfectly fine. Romance is overrated, in games and IRL both.

I voted "other", and hopefully I'll make my viewpoint clear.
On the one hand, physical beauty is a thing. A core part of our biology is designed to associate certain looks with certain things. As to whether it does so with any degree of accuracy, I'll leave that to the reader.
My point however is that a character's appearance is a relevant factor that has to be taken into account.
On the other hand, there's the whole idea of "don't judge a book by it's cover". I appreciate the intent, I even agree with it, but any writer worth his or her salt will make the cover match the contents.
On a real-world note, I've observed that when people have a healthier view of themselves, a "prettier outlook", they take better care of themselves; improved diet, physical activity, proper hygiene, etc. This in turn improves their overall appearance, so at the risk of being a fence-sitter...
Beauty is not just in the cover but the contents as well. The people that I would say are "beautiful" I view as such because of what is on the inside, and the outside reflects that.
So, at the risk of thinking too deeply about something (again), I will say that of course I want my characters in an RPG to be beautiful, but there are multiple factors involved, not simply whether they have an hourglass figure or a chiseled jaw.
If we had a character that went through a "Mia Thermopolis -to- Princess of Genovia" type of character arc I would probably squee. I find those types of stories to be very heartwarming, and I'm a sucker for happy endings. To the point of this post, it would have a character who 'thinks' they are not beautiful (to put it simple), but then through a series of trials, becomes beautiful not just in appearance but in character. It would double as character development too.
I don't know how well that would fit in a Dragon Age game, and while the above example is of a female character, I don't see how it couldn't apply to a male character, with a nice suit instead of a dress for starters.
Again, I could very well be thinking about this too deeply, so I'll just leave off here.

But I never seen anyone complain about romance looks until Cassandra in DA:I and Cora in ME:A because "BiOwArE bEcUm SjDuBs" Liara was the most romanced character in Mass Effect and it's not because of her personality ... because she was one of the most boring characters Bioware created since Bastilla. It doesn't matter that she's blue, she has most of the facial features men think of as gorgeous. Full lips, wide eyes, thin eyebrows, small nose etc. In fact, compare Liara to Peebee, both of whom are blue and it is obvious Liara was created to be beautiful and Peebee more realistic. Peebee probably has a more fun personality also ... by default. Tali has a wonderful personality, but she also has an air of mysteriousness going for her combined with very wide hips and a very skinny waist. Her physical mannerisms are also quite attractive. I would say that people don't think of Tali as ordinary looking and the fact that her face is never shown allows men to imagine whatever face they want behind that mask. There's a reason there was such an uproar when Bioware revealed her face. You also had Kelly who was very pretty, I'm also surprised they never made EDI a companion, they took the trouble to put her in a sexy robot chassis in Mass Effect 3.

The sexiest thing about Miranda was her voice. Certainly not that jutting underbite, or that ridiculous outfit.
Kaidan was sexy af, even if a little homely personality-wise. Garrus was much more charismatic, but he was a scaled lizard-cat for crying out loud!
As for the DA universe. Morrigan for the fierce intelligence, Fenris for the angst & good looks, Anders because I suspect he's a complete slut in the sack (or perhaps that's the "Justice effect"?).
Who else? Merril? Creepy under the charming ingenue act. Isabella is a medieval-esque self-serving gold digger. Sebastian... Well, he's very good looking but blander than blancmange. What can I say, I need my boys to have the face and demeanor of an angel, coupled with the body of a lusty whore.
Cullen is my usual go-to romance. The closeted choir boy vibes really get me going, every-single-time. Dorian is witty and sophisticated but a walking cliché. Vivienne is objectively hot: highly intelligent, supremely poised, a fantastic body (for a female), and that voice! Simultaneously enticing and dismissive. She out-Elaria-Sands Elaria Sand. Leliana is much more appealing as a ruthless cougar than she was as a (seemingly) naive debutante in DAO. Cassandra... well I admire Cassandra a great deal, and she is good looking, in a Spartan-looking sort of way. Josephine is DAI's Sebastian so... dolls in her 30s? Ye gods! Solas... Well, he can be charming, and that can be sexy, but the image that comes to mind is that of a vampire. Varric? Nah, friend-zone material. Cole... Ahh Cole. One can never underestimate the power of (the) Voice when it comes to sex appeal. That and the childlike naivete always work its magic on me.
Who else is left? Blackwall? Urg! I can't stand beards, though I do enjoy a somewhat hairy body, sometimes, for kinks.

Mother of God... did someone hit her face with a shovel? I think if I were to romance someone in Andromeda I would romance Vetra, she seems pretty professional and good at what she does. Everyone else annoys me in some way (Did you know Cora was an Asari huntress?) EDIT: To me Liam feels like a kid, Peebee feels like a kid, Jaal was kinda dull. Who else is there *tries not to look at Cora trying to tell me something about being a huntress*

There wasn't near as much content for her as the others but I thought her romance was the sweetest and felt more realistic to me. My Sara definitely taught her how to shoot. Also her sticking that magnetized coffee cup to the wall was one of the cutest things ever.
